Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this create a wide 360-degree sound pattern or a narrow sonic beam like some desktop speakers?

A: The Yamaha MSP3A Powered Speaker is a 2-way speaker, so it wouldn't output a 360-degree sound pattern.

Q: 2. Is there a limit to the number of DBR-series speakers you can daisy chain?

A: The Yamaha DBR speakers, including the DBR12- 12" 2-Way Powered Loudspeaker, all have an XLR output on the back. You can daisy chain from the output of one speaker to the input of another, but each speaker will need connection to an outlet for power. There is no limit to how many speakers can be connected in this way, but this might not be the most practical solution to distribute sound to many speakers over a large area.

Q: 3. This shows 137dBSPL I'm assuming that's at 1m.... what's the SPL at 2m, or some other relative distance?

A: For 2 meters away, the SPL at that location will be 131db.

Q: 4. What is the rms

A: The Yamaha DZR15 2000W 2-Way 15" Powered Loudspeaker is 950 W RMS.

Q: 5. Hi, where can I find the hardware to hang them from a truss?

A: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1337144-REG/global_truss_dt_f34_spk_mt_truss_speaker_mount_capacity.html

Q: 6. I need change these speakers to DXR15. Let me return these 2 speakers ? (DBR15)

A: These speakers can be returned within 30 days of purchase.

Q: 7. Can this be used with HS80M monitors? I've noticed that this subwoofer has a very different frequency response curve to the now discontinued HS10W subwoofer that was designed for the HS80M monitors.

A: Contacted Yamaha and they assure me that it can be used with HS80M monitors. Frequency response is different as the HS8S can go as low as 22hz (HS10W was 30hz). You just need to adjust the cross over frequency until it best complements the HS80M monitors.

Q: 8. Is the Crown XLi 1500 capable of powering 2 of these speakers?

A: Yes, the Crown XLi 1500 Stereo Power Amplifier can be used to power a pair of the Yamaha CBR15 Portable 2-Way 15" 1000W Passive Loudspeakers.

Q: 9. Can these daisy chain?

A: Yes they have an XLR out.

Q: 10. Hi, is there any under protection? Is not possible to see in the pictures. Thank you.

A: No, there is nothing on the bottom.

[132 dB SPL] I purchased a second BR-10 to complete a PA system I use with a Fender guitar/Yamaha modeling amp combo. I get the sound I like and then let it rip. Clean, powerful and impressively responsive across the entire frequency range. Way more than enough for 1500 sq ft of audience (~200 people). Can switch to pure PA use without problems and nobody is going to gripe about this rig. Wish I had this setup when I started doing gigs.

[2.1 kHz] I bought a pair of the 10" speakers to provide sound in my basement for DJ practice mixes and to make my Peloton bike experience rock. It does that very well using only a fraction of its full power. I connected everything through a Yamaha MG10xu mixer.

I have not taken the speakers outside yet, but they should power a backyard party and make the neighbors stand up and notice.

The speakers are rugged, lightweight for the sound they produce, and priced well. You can certainly get better and louder sound, but you will pay at least double.

[2.1 kHz] Finally got to use these at a gig just this weekend after purchasing them last summer. I've used them a bit before but really never have had a chance to really air them out and see what they can do.

Wow.

I had these outside up against a wall on a patio outdoors and had to provide audio for a wedding, both the ceremony and the reception. The ceremony itself was about 100 yards from the speakers. No problems at all, these handled that job with ease.

I haven't invested in a subwoofer yet, and with all honesty I wouldn't get the Yamaha subs to go with this when I do (JTR Captivator 218PRO is 3dB down at 27hz for anyone reading this) but it really didn't matter at all. Once it was time to get down and boogie, these speakers brought it with crystal clarity. I still had a ways to go before distortion and we were just rocking the whole mountain valley in Lincoln, MT.

Truly awesome speakers. No distortion at all at insane volume levels with some heavy dance music. Great bass and the mids/highs are crisp and clear. I can't recommend these enough nor the service I received here at BHPhoto. Top quality company and products!

[53.5 lb] I have only used these speakers once but suffice it to say I am very impressed with sound level and quality of sound!!

I play in a three piece wedding band, drums, bass and guitar.

I had a gig at an outside venue and decided to test these speakers out there.  I had been led to believe the venue was smaller and guests would number about 150.  When I got there the place was bigger than I expected and there were a bit more than 200 guests. To top it off, the dance floor was located a ways from the band.

When I fired them up and did the sound check I knew that the speakers were going to handle the event just fine.

I used a bass drum mic and an overhead for the drums.  I also put the guitar and  and a little bass guitar through the speakers.  These speakers put out some surprising  volume and quality sound. The vocals sounded very nice and clear.

Granted, these speakers are and upgrade from the $800 to $900 per speaker I was using, but nevertheless these Yamaha bring the volume and quality of sound that IS the next level. I can only Imagine how they sound with the Yamaha subs which I plan on getting soon.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. And bottom line, these speakers make my band sound better, and that is good for business.

[31 x 21 x 19"] I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! I highly recommend them!
