[7x Low-Profile] I got this bag because I travel on the plane on occasion, and I wanted to carry my Sony HXR-NX5U and 15 MacBook Pro in one bag. It works great. In addition to the camera and computer, I carry extra batteries, power, a couple of wireless lavs, a shotgun mic, and an external portal hard disk. I'm average height at 150 lbs, and it's well balanced on my back, comfortable to walk with it on.I have also traveled with it on buses and light rail to some locations, and it works well. Only thing I'd say is, unless you have a very lightweight tripod, carry that separately. Also, use separators to make partitions for the main compartment. It'll be worth it to make a tight fit for the camera and the space becomes more efficient.

Make life easy and keep my equipment safe

[2RU] Just what I needed and arrived just as described.

[Steel] I bought the 3-space Gator Rack Bag to carry audio/computer interface gear for mobile recording situations. This consists of a computer interface, 8-mic preamp and a Furman Power Conditioner. A regular molded case offers better protection but the rack bag concept is lighter and easier to carry. It is worth the extra money to get his model, which has an aluminum frame and plastic panels under the nylon. The large, zippered pocket is handy for holding cables and communication adapters. It has one handle on the short side, and a shoulder strap. It would be a nice addition to have handles on two or three sides rather than one. It is a little short for full-depth rack gear, but everything fits if you remove power and audio cables. In the field, it fits on a small table with the laptop on top.

3U is large enough for most jobs, and has enough room to reach inside. If I need more channels or a UPS, I put them in separate cases. 30 pounds each is a lot easier to carry than 45 (or more).

[29 lb] I purchased this iStarUSA WS-1070B 10 RU Audio/Video Rackmount Cabinet for our AV station and it was worth every penny. Outstanding quality.

] I bought this case to move an existing NAS from an ITX tower into a rack mountable case. I had (5) 3.5 drives to mount. I found a (3) 3.5 to (2) 5.25 bay adapter with matching hexagon venting (the black isn't a perfect match, but good enough for a rack) and was able to add another 80mm fan. I thought I would only be able to fit one drive on top of each of the 3.5 cages making this adapter necessary. With an ITX board I was able to fit two drives in each of the 3.5 bays. The drive bay adapter brings the total capacity up to (7) 3.5 drives which seems insane for a short depth 2U case.


I already had a SFX power supply with an SFX to ATX adapter which allowed for some extra room. A 24-pin extension was necessary to reach the motherboard. I don't think this would be an issue with a standard ATX power supply.

It definitely feels like a cheap case. For the price I'm not complaining at all. My only gripe is I wasn't able to find rails that were compatible with my shorter depth rack (Tripp Lite SWR15US). I overcame this by mounting a shelf on the rear posts of my rack to support the back of the case which makes getting this in and out of the rack much easier.

Overall a great case. I couldn't find anything else able to support (5) 3.5 drives in a short depth 2U chassis for even double the price.

[29 lb] I started out with this before I quickly realized I was going to go all out for a home lab and got a 16U with casters. I currently have this one sitting on top of the 16U and it will go to use at some point. I put rubber feet on it and it's a solid, sturdy unit.

] I'm thrilled with this case. All metal construction, the colors on the front panels look great, and the internals are all well made, precisely machined, and have rolled edges to avoid any finger slices. I could not be happier with this purchase.
