The black StarTech 5.25" Removable SATA Hard Drive Rackfrom StarTech 5.25" Removable SATA Hard Drive Rackis a hot-swap solution that allows you to quickly swap SATA hard drives in/out of a computer, without having to open the computer case. The mobile rack is fully compatible with RAID installations to ensure maximum performance and versatility, for enhanced storage applications. It features a front panel ball-bearing fan with aluminum construction and 25,000+ insertion rating. To maximize the performance and utilize the full speed potential of your SATA III hard drives, the HDD backplane supports SATA III for transfer speeds up to 6 Gb/s, when paired with a compatible controller.

Simply install the drive bay into a 5.25" bay on the host computer, and mount a 3.5" SATA HDD into the (removable) caddy. Connecting the SATA hard drive to the computer is as easy as inserting the caddy into the drive bay, which can be locked to prevent unauthorized removal of the drive.

A: Yes, the StarTech 3.5" USB 3.0 SATA III External Hard Drive Enclosure with UASP is compatible with MacOS, but whether the drive you insert will be compatible will depend on how it is formatted.

Q: 4. Does this unit work with HDR-50?

A: It is our opinion that it should work. However, we are not able to say so definitely since the HDR-50 is discontinued. We are able to suggest that you consider the Datavideo 320GB SATA 2.5 Spare Hard Drive. That one is confirmed as working with the HDR-50.

Q: 5. This cloning is sector by sector? i can Copy for example the MBR and partition table?Or are there some files that are not copied ??

A: It will duplicate a drive sector by sector.

Q: 6. What other drives with larger storage capacity (e.g. 1TB or 2TB) can work with the HDR-70?

A: there are no other drive with higher capacity recommended for the HDR-70

A: The StarTech 3.5" USB 3.0 SATA III External Hard Drive Enclosure with UASP (Silver) BH #STS3510SMU33 has been successfully tested by Startech with up to 14TB Drives. Bigger drives might work but it has not been validated by Startech.

Q: 9. What is the max TB capacity supported for HSB100SATBK?

A: HGST 12 TB drives work with it.

Q: 10. Can this enclosure work with standard USB 3.0 without UASP host controller?

A: Yes, it will still work.

[SATA III 6 Gb/s] i was getting a hard drive failure Hb6 first cloning attempt didn't work I defragmented the old drive. The second time i had a solid red light after 3 hours i installed the new hard drive in the computer and it works fine boots right up every thing seems fine So IDK I am going to try it again on another computer everything can be replaced except twenty years of pictures thanks 5

[Aluminum] Strength: • Quality product. Solid heavy aluminum on all 6 sides. Including both the drive caddy and bay. • Cool. The aluminum dissipate the heat much faster than steal or most other materials. • Narrow bay. A little bit smaller than 5 inches. Which is very useful as it needs less space during transportation, offsite storage. The most popular size for safety deposit boxes are 5 inches. The bay easily fits. • Drives go in and come out smoothly • Useful handle to pull out and hold the drive caddy Challenge: • LP4 and 15-pin SATA connectors are too close to each other at the back of the drive caddy. The challenge is that if you need to connect both a 15-pin SATA power splitter cable and a LP4 power cables on the same drive caddy, depending on those cables shapes and sizes, it might not be possible to connect both. Because those cables are blocking each other. See the attached photo to clarify what I mean by "power splitter cable". If you need to connect either the LP4 power cable or the 15-pin SATA power cable, it works though. This challenge could be resolved if the LP4 and 15-pin SATA power connectors were somehow both much further apart and beside each others. Instead of very close and on top of each other. • Noisy fan. The front small 40mm fan is noisy. For a silent drawer, this fan can easily be either replaced or disconnected when appropriate. • No cable bracket to click onto. The risk is that the connection could come loose over time. A bracket would add a click sound when the SATA data cable is securely fastened into it's port. 5
