Kinesis Foam Doughnut - Comfort And Support

Kinesis Foam Doughnut - Comfort And Support

$57.00 $77.52

The Kinesis Foam Doughnut - Comfort and Supportis a padded collar that is designed to stabilize a telephoto lens such as a 300mm f/2.8 or a 600mm f/4 when placed inside a compatible case or bag. The Foam Doughnut is particularly useful for telephoto lens cases that allow a lens to be stored or carried facing downward with or without an attached camera. In such bags or cases, the section of the lens where it narrows to connect to a camera may have room to shift during transport. By wrapping around a lens toward the front of the mount, and locking into place with a touch-tab fastener before the lens is placed inside a bag or case, the Foam Doughnut can prevent such movement.

The diameter the Foam Doughnut will accommodate depends on the bag or case it is used with. If used with a Kinesis L321, L522, or L622 lens case, it provides an opening 2.75" (7.00cm) up to approximately 3.50" (9.00 cm) wide. If used with a Kinesis L311, L511, or L611 lens case, the opening is fixed at 2.75" (7.00cm) wide.

[0.1 lb] I used the doughnut in a Lightware Z600 long lens case to support a Nikon 400mm F/2.8 ED VR lens with D810 attached. It is well-made but the doughnut hole was too small to fit around the 400mm and still fit in the case, so I modified it. It was easy to open up the seam around the outer perimeter of the nylon cloth, slip out the foam padding, cut the padding to make a bigger hole, and re-assemble (had to sew a new seam around the perimeter). The doughnut now fits the lens and the case perfectly.

[0.1 lb] I'm planning on using it for a safari trip in Africa. The monopod may not be as stable and this offers an alternative.

[0.1 lb] I recently returned from a safari in South Africa, where our wildlife photography opportunities were from inside a car. The Safarisack 1.4 Beanbag was a quick and easy way to achieve good camera stability (using a heavy Pentax K-1 and 150-450 zoom combination). I filled it with dried split peas, which were easily obtainable and worked great, and I found the size of the 1.4 model bag just right. The rubberized surface minimizes slipping on the window edge or other surface, which was always an issue with previous home made beanbags I have used, and the carry handle makes handling very easy. I also enjoyed being able to empty the bag after the trip, getting rid of weight and bulk for air travel back home. Highly recommended.

[0.1 lb] The Safarisack 4.2 Beanbag Camera Support (khaki) is one of the cheaper padded supports for photographing with long lenses that needs stabilization to precisely place the focus point on the eye of a distant bird or mammal. The sac is wide enough for the larger lenses and long enough to stratal the car door and stay in place. For smaller cars and trucks that don't have higher opening windows as the large pickups do, I have found this bag to my best choice. Larger beanbags work on the larger pickup windows or in larger stationary blinds. The sack's design and build quality are very good Sunflower seeds make an excellent choice to fill the sac; they are lighter and cheaper than other choices.

[0.1 lb] I needed a camera support for my Canon equipment and zoom lenses, and this beanbag (with the buckwheat filler) is exactly what I was looking for. I first used it last weekend on a birding trip, and I'm delighted with it!

[0.1 lb] I had always heard about using a bean bag for macro work but always relied on tripods. Once I did purchase the SafariSack i was very impressed with a well thought out product and quality build. Using it today for some close to ground flowers in rocky terrain it was a joy to use. I even worked a couple of focus stack images with a focusing rail firmly sitting on the bag. This bag is now a permeant part of my Macro kit to take in the field.
