Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you refill this bag?

A: Yes, one end is zippered. The manufacturer's tag has recommendations for other fillings.

Q: 2. What does the 4.2 stand for? Besides size (dimensions), is there much difference between this Kinesis Safarisack and the 1.4 Safarisack?

A: The 4.2 is the volume of filler (in liters) for the large bag. The 1.4 bag has a volume of 1.4 liters. So, the 4.2 is about 2 1/2 times bigger than a 1.4. I have both and the 1.4 is a bit small for long lenses or folding in half over a car window or fence rail.tree branch but very handy for a flexible support with smaller lenses. Hope this answered your question. Nice, well made product by the way and if you are taking it traveling say on a safari consider using buckwheat hulls for filler instead of poly - much lighter for packing,.

Q: 3. Should I remove the hulls from the plastic bag they come in?

A: In theory, allowing them out of their original plastic packaging would likely allow the buckwheat hulls to shift freely in Kinesis Safarisack 4.2 to conform to some surfaces better, but in practice, we have found that there are sometimes advantages to keeping them in their packaging.

Q: 4. No dimensions are listed in the specs.. what are the exact dimensions of the Kinesis R246-K?

A: The Kinesis SafariSack 4.2 Beanbag Camera is 9.4 x 15.7" (24 x 40 cm) when it is flat.

Q: 5. How much does this weigh when filled with git-lite?

A: Kinesis lists the SafariSack 4.2 as weighing 2 lbs 10 oz when filled with git-lite.

Q: 6. Does this come with a shoulder strap?

A: Unfortunately, no, there are no shoulder straps included with the purchase of the Kinesis Safarisack 4.2 Beanbag Camera Support (Buckwheat Hulls Filled, Black), B&H # KIR428. If you need a shoulder strap, the Kinesis Y315 Padded Shoulder Strap, B&H # KIY315, or the Kinesis Y515 Heavy-Duty Padded Shoulder Strap, B&H # KIY515, would be the straps that would be compatible for use with the Kinesis Safarisack 4.2 Beanbag Camera Support.

Q: 7. Can Poly Bead fill or Git-Lite fill be ordered separately for this bag?

A: Yes, poly beads can be ordered separately for the Kinesis SafariSack Beanbag Camera Support (Buckwheat Hulls Filled, Black, 4.2L): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1081615-REG/kinesis_r142_poly_bead_fill_for.html

Q: 8. Can I travel overseas (Africa) with the buckwheat hulls?

A: I would recommend contacting the TSA. https://www.tsa.gov/

Q: 9. how much does the buckwheat weigh for the 4.2 bag?

A: Hi, the Kinesis Buckwheat Hulls for SafariSack 4.2 weighs about 1.125lbs.

Q: 10. will this work on a car window?

A: With the window rolled all the way down, yes. If you're talking about with the window part way down and putting it on the glass...sorta yes...obviously with it resting on a just a thin piece of glass it would be wobbly since there wouldn't be a wide piece of support under it.

[Black] Love this thing. can't believe i didn't buy it sooner. it is perfect. i would not recommend anyone buy a smaller size. I found that even just shooting with my 60D and a macro, i needed the larger size to shoot vertical.

[Nylon] I bought the bean bag mainly for use on cruises with long lenses (80-400, 500) and it works very well. I place it on top of the ship's railing and rest my lens on the bean bag. There is a strap on the bean bag that allows me to secure it to the railing so it doesn't slip off.

Main negative is that it is quite heavy. So it travels in my checked luggage and I don't tend to carry it about with me. My tripod is considerably lighter.

Nevertheless, it does the job I bought it for and it does it very well and at a reasonable price.

[0.31 lb] Purchased this to use when photographing from the vehicle. Like that it can be folded and strapped on sides to keep in triangular shape.

[0.31 lb] If you need a good bean-bag this is it. Very well made with straps to shape the bag to whatever use you need, or to lay flat out. The rubberized side prevents sliding on most surfaces. I have now used this with all types of lenses from wide to super tele and I am very happy with my purchase. Highly recommended.

[Zipper] This is a great product, Stong and light, even, filled. Perfect for the car door. We bought 2, one for each of us, and filled them with Buckwheat hulls. I would recommend this for anyone needing support!

[Nylon] ...Either that or don't get old. It just makes sense to take the time to create your shot and stabilize the camera when holding your breath no longer works. This bag is great just slung over my shoulder and it serves as a great thing to simply swing out and lean against or plop onto something which is itself stable so that you can then compose and expose your shot and begin to use shutter speed as another meaningful parameter in your mobile shooting. The buckwheat filling is extremely light, yet sets up nice to give you that stability that you need. This thing is valuable for those times that you just have to walk around handheld---either for stills or video.

[Nylon] I needed a camera support for my Canon equipment and zoom lenses, and this beanbag (with the buckwheat filler) is exactly what I was looking for. I first used it last weekend on a birding trip, and I'm delighted with it!
