Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I used this step up ring, would it cause vignetting?

A: Unless you are using an extremely wide angle lens, you shouldnt experience vignetting with the 52-77mm Step-Up Ring.

Q: 2. What is the thread pitch on this step-up ring?

A: Unfortunately we do not have the measurement of the pitch to provide you with. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated it is within the common pitch of your major brand filters we carry (Hoya, Tiffen, B+W etc).

Q: 3. Would these be compatible with a Tiffen brand ND Filter? Thanks!

A: Yes, these Sensei step-up rings are compatible with Tiffen ND. I use 77mm Tiffen ND and use multiple of these rings with my different Canon and Panasonic lenses. I had bought both the Tiffen ND and Sensei rings from B&H and they work perfectly fine on my shoots.

Q: 4. Can I purchase a 72mm filter and use that one filter on both a 72mm lens and a 46mm lens with the 46-72mm step-up ring?

A: Yes, that's exactly what it's for.

Q: 5. Would this work with tiffen Nds?

A: Yes, it's meant for any circular filters with 82mm diameter.

Q: 6. Is the black color with matte finish inside?

A: Yes, the black color and finish covers the entire step up ring.

Q: 7. If I have a camera with a 30mm thread size, and a 37mm fisheye, do I need a step-up or step-down ring?

A: If your filter/attachment is larger than your lens, it's a step-up. In this case, your fisheye attachment is 37mm and your lens' front diameter is 30mm, hence, you'd need a step-up ring.

Q: 8. Looking at a couple of the step-up rings 77-95mm and 82-95mm, both by Sensei .Do you know the thickness (e.g. fore-to-aft dimension) of these rings?Thanks... Bill

A: They are about 5mm thick which is about the same as a standard UV filter ring.

Q: 9. If I have a 30mm camera lens, and a 37mm fisheye, do I need a step up or step down ring?

A: This step-up ring is the one you need.

Q: 10. If I flip this around can I use it as a step-down ring? I know I'll have to deal with vignetting (well, maybe not technically vignetting, but overlap into the image area), but will it work until I can get the correct size filters? Or are the threads threaded in such a way that it can only screw on to the lens on one side and the filter on the other and cannot be flipped?

A: No, this can only be used as a step up ring.

[Bay 60 to 67 mm] A great way to put high quality filters on an older lens.

[3 mm] With this step-up ring You can save money. I use it with B+H and Hoya filters instead with much more expensive Hasselblad filters. No difference.

[3 mm] This ring allows use of standard threaded filters on my Hasselblad
80/2.8 lens, and fortunately it is just small enough that I can use both
this and the B60 Lens Hood (also made by FotodioX) at the same time.

[Bay 60 to 67 mm] Updated my Hasselblad 80mm to a newer 80mm and went from bay 50 to bay 60 so none of my bay 50 will fit anymore. Have purchased all new 72mm filters and attached them to these step up rings. They seem well made but I imagine the first drop will tell the real story. Great price and free shipping with my additional filter order
