Q: 1. Would this work on a Gitzo 75mm bowl on Gitzo series 5 tripod?

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 2. Are the levels of drag adequate, or do you find yourself constantly wishing for more drag?

A: Those of us at B&H who have used it, like the overall feel of this head and its operation with a variety of cameras. We have had no complaints regarding any lack of drag.

Q: 3. I will be upgrading from a Benro H8. I know this head is WAY better. My main complaint with the Benro is, the maximum drag is really weak. I want heavy drag that you really have to push on so slow movements are highly controlled. Is the heaviest drag on this head really stiff?

A: Yes not only is the Miller more stiff at its maximum setting it also offers more steps in between the lightest and toughest setting.

Q: 4. Does a standard manfrotto plate fit in this head?

A: We're afraid not. This tripod has its own quick release plate system, it is not compatible with Manfrotto plates.

Q: 5. Is this a 26 or 30-lb load capacity? because the description says 30 lb, but the specs say 26. Thanks!

A: The load capacity is 0-30.9 lbs / 0-14.0 kg.

Q: 6. Do sachtler/manfrotto QR plates work with this head?

A: We're afraid not. This is compatible with Miller plates like BH #MI24CP. https://bhpho.to/2LTojyE

Q: 9. Is the sliding plate interchangeable with the AirAV model?

A: No, the AirV fluid head (#1044) uses the “Versa” camera plate (#1201) The AIR fluid head (#1042) uses the standard camera plate(#1205) However, you could add a receiver onto the AIR that would allow you to use the AirV Versa plate on the AIR Head. Q: 10. does the side mount system in these heads work directly with arri style long dove plates? or will I have to screw it onto the head's proprietary plate?

A: Miller has their own proprietary quick release plate system. You will need to add a dovetail if you intend to use this tripod with Arri standard dovetail mounts.

[Fluid Head] This is the best fluid head I've used for my GH5S. Counterbalance set to 1 is just right for a minimal body/lens/mic setup and setting 2 is perfect for a more elaborate setup. Been a longtime fan of Miller quality and to my knowledge they are one of the few that hasn't been sold to a large corporation that are known to cut corners to reduce costs, you simply can't find this quality elsewhere at this price point. The only thing missing is drag controls but the drag is set to a level I'm comfortable with, and having an illuminated bubble level would have been nice. I'll take the tradeoff of overall build quality over having a bunch of bells and whistles any day. Even though this was a special order item it shipped very quickly from the Miller branch in New Jersey. They are also very easy to get on the phone with if service or parts are ever needed.

[Fluid Head] I am mainly interested in birds photography, my recent set up is Sony A9, 2x teleconverter and sone 400mm f2.8, the head supports the setup well and provides good fluid motion, for both photography and video purposes, I also own an miller DS20 which is too “hard” for the Sony set up, but the ds20 is great for Nikon DSLR with the 800nn f5.6vr

The major drawback of miller is the plate design, different to the rest of the world, I am asking my local craftsman to handmade some plates with supporting skeleton for my systems

[Fluid Head] Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Easy to counter balance. Easy to mount and unmount your camera.

[12.3 x 9.8 x 8"] Working in broadcast TV starting in late 70's and through to 2015 and the only components that lasted the test of 7 day a week use in all weather conditions were the Miller heads and this unit is no exception. I purchased on a flash sale and have employed in many different configurations with mirrorless and camcorder rigs. I enjoy the simplicity of the settings as usually, with previous heads, I would set up and never adjust say for the camera positioning. And the reality is, these units hold their value as the cost of manufacturing always rises. Most shooting is reliant on the sticks. If your head is poor, you work harder. This as with all Miller heads will long outlive most careers and provide years of worry free, solid performance.

[Fluid Head] Heavy, sleek and quality head throughout. At maximum, Im sporting about an 18lb camera package, so Im well below the load rating. But the head feels really solidly built, pans are smooth with no kickback at the tails, tilt range is muy bueno. The counterbalance setup takes a little getting used to, but does what its supposed to do very well. Curious to see how well the CB system will hold up over time, as the click-in settings may wear down the control knob over the years. Its a tiny thing, but I like the thoughtful design touch of having a home for spare mount screws. For anyone concerned about only 3 steps of drag settings, dont be. You get used to the setting range almost immediately, and for the most part all the hoopla about 5+ steps is pure nonsense. All in all, pretty solid selection for my particular needs.

[2x 3/8"-16 Male] This head is fantastic! It is replacing a 25 year old Vinten Vision 5. While I have loved the Vinten, the infinite adjustable friction has worn out. I love the gears in this one and the 16 step counter balance. Also the Vinten heads only have a range for which they can be counter balanced, like 7 pounds to 14 pounds. This guy can go all the way from zero to 26.4 pounds. That means I can use a heavy camera or a DSLR and still balance the weight. Excellent design!

[12.3 x 9.8 x 8"] I purchased the Miller CX10 Fluid Head specifically for use with a Sony A7iii and Sony 200-600 G zoom lens in a rig weighing about 13 pounds. I use this setup as a moving camera for closeups in concerts. It's important to have smooth action with (near) perfect balance. The CX10 meets all of my need and expectations. It is also compact, rugged, and very easy to adjust. It is a true fluid head, so adjusting the drag is easy, since you aren't working against spring tension found in friction heads. The counterbalance is also easy to adjust, without undue resistance. I can point it to any position and let go of the handle without sag and very little springback. Hold for just a second or two, and the springback disappears.

[Fluid Head] As my cameras got bigger, I had to upgrade my fluid head from really old Manfrotto. I first tried the Miller Air fluid head, but found it did not have the range or resolution for counterbalance adjustment I was looking for. The CX10 is substantially more expensive, but the 16-steps of counterbalance and 5 steps of drag adjustment are just perfect for me. The counterbalance setup is simple: set drag to zero, slide the camera-plate forward/backward to locate the center of mass, then increase the counterbalance to get the best balance over the range planned for the shot. Finally bring-up the drag to get the feel you want.

Some reviews of the CX series complain they can not get perfect balance, and experience kick-back and drift at the tails of tilts or pans (especially when using long lenses where the effect is amplified). But I have found that a combination of proper balance setting, higher drag, and user technique can give me perfect starts and stops with zero kick-back. One of the keys is to use a high drag setting and a firm had to initiate the tilt/pan. Then ease-up to the stopping point, and just hold briefly for a second before releasing the handle. This works perfectly for me every time. And by the way, poor tripod torsional stiffness can make even a perfect fluid head appear to have pan-axis kickback, but in reality it is the tripod legs kicking-back, not the head (mount this on the 26 pound Kessler K-pod tripod, and you will see how perfectly it works with an infinitely-stiff tripod). For typical shooting situations, I mount this on a Manfrotto 536 and it is a great combination.

This head is tremendously sturdy and solid - really well-made with silky-smooth bearings and absolutely zero play in any axis. I also love the size, grip and feel of the pan bar (handle) - it is big and beefy, feels great in the hand. Now that I have it, I wish I had bought a nice fluid head years ago! Miller has done a great job on this one!

[Fluid Head] Have been using it since October of 2021, and I am very happy with it. The adjustments took a little getting used to, there is a learning curve. Needed to practice to get the hang of it (by that I mean ability to adjust during a shoot without thinking).

The CS6 is more than adequate for my light set up (Red Komodo or R5 with a Canon 100-400 or 100-500 lens). Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Feels good in my hands, a pleasure to use. Should be good for much heavier setups but be careful to make sure you have the right model for your needs.
