Wide-angle prime lens is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and offers a 24mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/2 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.

Aspherical, DSA, and Super HR elements combine to control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and resolution.

One extra-low dispersion element minimizes chromatic aberration and color fringing for greater clarity and color fidelity.

Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance.

Manual focus clutch lets you quickly pull the focusing ring into place for direct, intuitive focus control. This also reveals the Snapshot Focus mode, which incorporates a depth of field scale for working with hyperfocal focusing and zone focusing techniques.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work with a Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II?

A: Yes, I have both the camera and lens. It is a great combination which I used for street/architectural photography recently on a trip to various European cities.

Q: 2. Does this lens have manual override (=full time manual focus)?

A: Yes. If you pull out the front part of the lens you get a traditional scale showing distance and coverage at various apertures. When you do this on an Olympus Pen-F, the camera automatically activates manual focus (when you retract the front part, it goes back to autofocus). Result: it is easy to call up manual focus and the lens let you see what will be in focus when you zone focus.

Q: 3. Can this lens be used for astro or night photography?

A: Yes you can 12mm in MFT will be 24mm equivalent witch is wide enough

Q: 4. Will this lens work with an extension tube? Looking for a decent wide angle macro-ish setup.

A: Yes Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 Lens (Silver) will work with an extension tube such as this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1454644-REG/vello_ext_mftd2_auto_extention_tubes_for.html

Q: 5. Looking for a wide lens that handles point light sources well, like shooting into a sunset or sunrise. I have the 7-14 f2.8 and the 12-40 f2.8 and both lenses have lots of flare when shooting into s strong point light source. How does this lens handle that type of lighting?

A: The only times I have had flare is if I am shooting with the sun in the frame and it wasn't behind any clouds and it was prominent in the frame (like center upper third) and it is wide open (f/2). In general I would say the flare control is quite good. It isn't something I really think of as an issue when I am using the lens. I would highly recommend. In comparison to the two lenses you mentioned, I have never used the 7-14, and I have not used the 12-40 extensively, but I would say the flare control is noticeably better on the 12 than the 12-40. Looking through a few thousand photos with my 12 I only see a small few with flare.

Q: 6. Does this lens has a clicked manual focus as Ive seen o na youtube video or thats an older version?

A: Yes, you can switch from auto focus to manual by pulling the lens ring towards the camera. It's a nice lens.

Q: 7. Is this 8-25mm lens compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark I? It's not listed, but I can't think of why it wouldn't be.

A: Yes, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25mm is based on a Micro Four Thirds System.

Q: 8. does this lens have manual focus clutch?

A: Yes the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25mm f/4 PRO Lens has a manual focus clutch which allows the focusing ring to be quickly pulled into place for direct, intuitive manual focus control.

Q: 9. Does it fits in Dji zenmuse X5r?

A: Yes I am using it currently w my Zenmuse X5R, and is supported by DJI!Give really nice wide angle landscape shots from inspire 1.

Q: 10. Is this lens wide enough to do hand held vlogging and show half the body on a GH4 or is it better to go with the 7-14mm ?

A: This lens is not a wide zoom lens, it's manual focus has the similar 80mm telephoto lens on the 4/3 camera

[7, Rounded] I've had this lens for only a week but have discovered that the images it produces with Oly EP2 are as beautiful as the lens itself . I really do believe the beauty of the tool itself has much to do with the quality of work you produce, you will reach for this lens just because you must . No negatives but the cost . I've taken shots in a Art gallery hand held and the results are very good . Also, for 360 degr photo knitting 12 mm is close to perfect .

[Autofocus] Right now OM systems does not seem to a pancake in their Pro Series (double check me on this.) But this “non-pro” lens is really great and seems very well-built just the same. I’m glad I bought it!

[7, Rounded] I am an enthusiastic novice to micro 4/3 cameras, and I was blown away by this lens. I wanted to delve more deeply into night-time and astro photography, and this lens is amazingly bright! The manual focus clutch also really, really helped me, a complete newb, to get sharp focus on stars easily. It was a huge confidence builder and on sale at a fantastic discount.

[f/2] I enjoy wide angle lenses and opted for this one to be my
standard – it has not disappointed me.  Compact, light weight and fast.  It’s perfect.

The M43 system is amazing, so compact allowing me to travel
with lenses and get into photography rather than drag gear around.
I highly recommend this lens for wide anglers
out there.
