Versatile with its reach, the Canon EF-mount Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 Sports Lens for Canon EFfrom Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 Sports Lens for Canon EFis a Sports-series lens offering a flexible telephoto zoom range, along with an advanced optical and physical design. A series of low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range and contribute to greater clarity and color accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been employed to control ghosting and flare for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions.

Complementing the optics is a Hyper Sonic Motor that provides especially fast and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override. An Optical Stabilizer also works to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Additionally, a rotating tripod collar is integrated into the lens's design to suit working atop a tripod or monopod.

As part of the Sports line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to offer excellent optical performance, speed, and other customizable features that make it an ideal choice for wildlife, sports, action, and other fast-moving subjects.

Telephoto zoom is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 240-960mm equivalent focal length range.

Two F Low Dispersion (FLD) and three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with a rear focus system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake to benefit making sharper imagery when shooting handheld.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Dust- and splash-resistant design suits this lens's use in inclement weather conditions and a water- and oil-repellent coating has also been applied to the front and rear elements to aid in cleaning.

Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

Zoom lock switch can be activated at any focal length to prevent accidental and unwanted zoom adjustment.

A fixed, rotating tripod collar offers well-balanced support for photographing atop a tripod or monopod with either vertical or horizontal shooting orientations.

This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Compatible with optional Sigma TC-1401 1.4x and TC-2001 2x teleconverters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens work with sigma's teleconverter and still have autofocus capabilities?

A: Practically speaking the teleconverters will not auto focus with this lens. The Sigma TC-1401 1.4x Teleconverter for Canon EF B&H # SITC1401C loses 1 stop of light so at 600 mm it will not auto focus. It should auto focus at 150 mm and f/5. The Sigma TC-2001 2x Teleconverter for Canon EF B&H # SITC2001C will not auto focus at any focal length on this lens. See the explanation on the product shown here.

Q: 2. How does this lens perform with the Z9?

A: The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F will work well on the Z9. But to use that you need the Nikon FTZ lens adapter, https://bhpho.to/3EjaLH9.

Q: 3. when will this lens be available?

A: This item is still available only as a pre-order and has not come into our inventory yet. You can choose to be notified by email when this item becomes available by clicking on the Notify When in Stock icon on the product page.

Q: 4. Do you have a 105mm solar filter for the sigma 150-600mm sport lens?..I don't see one in your catalog?

A: Yes I have B+W 105mm Clear UV Haze with Multi-Resistant Coating (010M) ,also I have lee polarized filter

Q: 5. I own the Sony a7rii. I would like to use the Sigma Sport 150-600. Has anyone tried to use the Canon EF mount lens with an adapter to Sony e-mount? How did you like it? What adapter would you recommend?

A: Can't help you with the Sony adapter, but the lens is a great choice. Exceptional value. You will want to get a gimbal mount for your monopod to use it.

Q: 6. Is the Sigma 150-600mm compatible with any 2x teleconverter ? Is there any teleconverter 2x dedicated to this lens ?

A: YES,Yes. I just did some shots with and without the nikon teleconverter TC-20 111 2x. the first images look pretty dam good to me, I need to do more testing, as I'm writing this. However you are right on, this lens is to die for . And yes the sigma tele's are on the market now. So if you have any money left over order one.

Q: 7. Why would I buy this lens and not the Tamron? I use Canon 1DMark 4 and 7D bodies

A: It is a matter of use case. The Tamron and the Sigma Contemporary are basically identical lenses. However, the Sigma Sports lens is slightly superior at 600mm. I am one of those very rare people on the planet who owns both a Tamron 150-600mm and the Sigma 150-600mm Sports lens. I use the Tamron when I want to shoot hand-held. There are times when a tripod, even with a gimbal head, is simply not very convenient. But when hand-held is not critical, and I can use a tripod, then the Sigma 150-600 Sports version delivers the best image quality at 600mm. So, if money is no objective, I would recommend both a Sigma Sport and either Tamron or Simga Contemporary lens. But if the budget is important, then I would think whether my use case would be more hand-held or more tripod bound. Hope that helps!

Q: 8. Is this compatible with the Canon R5 with a converter?

A: Yes it would be compatible.

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with the Canon Extender EF 1.4X II ?

A: IMHO, no, the 1.4x will not work. Or a better answer is you won't like it.

Q: 10. Can you show how it looks zoomed to 600mm? Please.

A: Unfortunately we are not able to honor your request for images of alternate views of this lens. We do not have access to our inventory to be able to accommodate this and I apologize for the inconvenience.

[Yes] I purchased this lens to have a lens with longer reach than my Canon EF 100-400L is capable of. I have not been disappointed. The photos are sharp and the lens is a joy to use. Well built and feels like a more expensive lens than it is. Along with it being well built comes some extra weight, however, the weight is manageable and very easy to hand hold to photograph birds in flight. I highly recommend this lens and B&H gave me a great deal on it as always. I also highly recommend B&H, I have been a loyal customer for a lot of years.

[f/5 to 6.3] I tested the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary and the Canon RF 110-500mm against the Sigma 150-600mm Sports and sent photos to some of my friends ... the Sigma 150-600mm Sports came ahead about 80% of the time. I was able to tell the difference so decided that it was the best purchase for the money. I shot a nephew's baseball game and got some good action shots (it was about 10 a.m. so plenty of light - did not use a tripod or monopod) ... I am uploading some bird photos where I used a tripod (at sunset if there is movement you will get some blur) .. I took the sun at sunset just resting on a car door and I took the moon with a tripod and 10 second delay to avoid movement .. I am really pleased with this lens; definitely worth the price .. Hope this is helpful

[Full-Frame] The picture quality is outstanding. I will be using this for mostly bird/wildlife photography. The lens is a bit on the heavy side so use of a monopod or tripod is a benefit. You can hand hold it but be prepared for a workout! I love that you are able to lock the zoom at the different focal lengths.

[f/5 to 6.3] I have used the Sigma 150-600 mm Sport Lens on my Canon 90D a few times in the last two weeks and am impressed with the range and detail of the photos. I am at the beginners stage and am looking forward to leaning more on how to get the most out of the this lens! So far so good!

[150 to 600mm] This is my second lens of this focal length (the other is another by another manufacturer) and this lens weighs a little more, but is a very solid build. Fast Auto Focus for wildlife and I am super happy with this purchase.

[105 mm (Front)] Starting bird and animal photography and this lens was a reasonable price point starting place. So far I am very pleased with the results. Tried handholding and that lasted about 30 minutes. Bought a Wimberley WH-200 and problem solved. Back in business. Once I had the gimbal setup correctly subject acquisition was quick and easy. Very happy with the results and really happy that I bought the gimbal!

[1:5] This lens is massive! I compared it to my Canon 70-200mm, making it look like a prime lens. I'm pairing it with my Canon 5D IV, which produces lovely images straight from the camera. Seeing what I can capture outdoors with natural light would be nice.

[Canon EF] I had done a lot of research and had talked to other photographers and two of my go to photo stores (B&H was one). I might not have been comparing apples to apples the Canon100-400 plus extender vs Sigma 150-600mm but from all I heard and saw the price was right. The only thing you really need to consider is the weight of this lens, you will need a tripod/gimbal (or nice ball head).

My pictures are from my first outing with this lens and both have been cropped down as the Eagle was probably 75-100 yards and the Coyote easily 200-250 yards away. The sky as you can tell was cloudy but provided a nice back drop.

[Autofocus] This lens just changed how I photograph wildlife! It's heavy but I will using a tripod most of the time. Love this lens!

[105 mm (Front)] I have had this lens about a week, but so far am very happy with it. I took it out to shoot birds, and got a filter to shoot the sun, getting ready for the eclipse in April. I have a Canon 1DX MK III, and I was also using the Canon 1.4x ll extender. It integrated with it seamlessly. Focus is fast and accurate, colors are beautiful and I got a lot of very sharp images. Yes it is a beast, used a monopod most of the time, but able to do handheld for short periods without too much muscle fatigue. Takes a little getting used to rotating the zoom ring the opposite direction than what I was used to, but that's no problem. The build quality is rock solid. Looking forward to getting out there and shooting a lot more with this lens.
