The Sigma 82mm Protector Filter - UV Lens Protectionis a simple, clear filter with a 1x filter factor and is designed to provide general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect overall image quality while helping to prevent dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from reaching or damaging your lens. This filter is multi-coated which helps to eliminate internal ghosting and reflections.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this vignette with an 18mm lens? Specifically the Tamron 18-300 (67mm). Any issues with the hood fitting properly?

A: This filter will not vignette unless it's wider than 16mm on a full frame camera. You shouldn't have any issues fitting the lens hood over the filter either.

Q: 2. Can an additional filter be attached to this one? For example Helix series.

A: The PolarPro 77mm QuartzLine UV Filter has a front thread of 82mm.

Q: 3. How effective is the hydrophobic treatment? Presumably a titanium oxide coating?

A: Hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings on glass elements and filters such as the Sigma 95mm WR Ceramic Protector Filter (B&H# SICGC95) are typically fluorine-based rather than titanium-based, as the later would block much visible light. It causes most water to bead and roll off if there is any incline to the angle at which the filter is held. When dealing with water droplets and splashes, I have found this type of coating sheds most water without my needing to address it at all. When a water droplet does not roll off right away, I just blow on it to shed it without having to take a break to wipe the lens or filter. I do not need to touch the element at all and I'm immediately back to shooting.

Q: 4. I'm having difficulty opening the case for the first time in which the Sigma 95 mm WR Filter is packed. I've tried twisting it and cannot find any plastic sealant. I would appreciate direction. Suggestions?

A: For the case of the Sigma 95mm WR Ceramic Protector Filter one can turn the top part of the case counter clockwise and then simply pull it off.

Q: 5. Does it produce color cast? I had Polar Pro QuartzLine NDs and they were total trash, insane color cast inaccurate stops.

A: The PolarPro 67mm QuartzLine UV Filter does not produce any colorcast no, this is a UV filter only.

Q: 6. Is the filter frame aluminum or brass?

A: The ring on this filter is aluminum.

Q: 7. I noticed the reviews seemed to be for attaching the Zeiss filter to Zeiss lenses. Just wanted to double check that the 72mm Zeiss UV filter threading would mount to my Fujifilm XF lens?

A: Yes, it will fit on your Fuji lens.

Q: 8. will this filter fit the filter adapter for the Sony RX100M3 camera?

A: Unfortunately, there is currently no filter adapter for the Sony Cybershot RX100 III Digital Camera. Sony does manufacture the Sony VFA-49R1 49mm Filter Adapter, which is compatible with the original RX100 and RX100 II, but Sony states the adapter is not compatible with the RX100 III Digital camera, and does not list an alternative option on their website for your camera. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: 9. Does the filter have an outside thread?

A: Yes, this filter does have outside threads.

Q: 10. Does this filter come with the same type of defender case as the Peter McKinnon Vari-ND filters?? Will the filter allowing attaching the hood of the Canon RF 85mm F1.2L lens?

A: The PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine UV Filter does not include the Defender 360 Case. You could attach the filter and the Canon ET-89 Lens Hood at the same time to the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM Lens.

[Clear] The filter is fingerprint oil, dirt, and dust resistant. And it's strong.
My lens hood isn't deployed all the time, and I'd rather replace a filter than damage my L lens.
For non-L it's a tougher call, I guess, but pricey glass warrants pricey protection that doesn't materially adversely affect image quality.

[Glass] This series as well as the ceramic series seems to keep cleaner than other filters I've used. I like the protection and these are my new standard.

[82 mm] I bought this filter for the Sigma 10-20mm ultra-wide angle lens. This filter does an excellent job protecting the lens as well as reducing the effect of glare from the sun. I use this filter in conjunction with a circular polarizing filter. I noticed during my last shoot that dust particles tended to collect on the filter, but with the proper lens-safe cleaning brush, those particles come right off.

[Multi Coated] The filter is very clear. It is heavy constructed filter. Great protection. I would not want a flimsy filter to protect my lens.

[Clear] I bought this UV filter to be used on the Sigma 150-600mm Sports Lens. I also use it in conjunction with the 105mm circular polarizing filter. It is very well made; although I agree it is a little pricey. However, if you spent a lot on your lens and want to ensure that it is safe as well able to take glare-free pictures, it is well worth the money. As with any filter, you occasionally see some dust particles, however, they come right off with the proper lens-safe brush.
