Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this lens perform with the Z9?

A: The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F will work well on the Z9. But to use that you need the Nikon FTZ lens adapter, https://bhpho.to/3EjaLH9.

Q: 2. This hood having screw which teighten the hood and Lense body

A: Yes, because of its design, I broke the original screw and had to order the whole hood, which has the screw that holds the whole hood on the lens

Q: 3. Can you show how it looks zoomed to 600mm? Please.

A: Unfortunately we are not able to honor your request for images of alternate views of this lens. We do not have access to our inventory to be able to accommodate this and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: 4. Can you purchase just the screw for this hood?

A: We don't carry the screw separately, you will have to contact Sigma directly.

Q: 5. Is the Sigma 150-600 compatible with a DX camera?

A: Yes, as long as the mount type on the lens matches the camera (Nikon, Canon, etc.) with a crop factor that varies -- check your DSLR manual.

Q: 6. Is the rotatable collar removable?

A: Removing the foot exposes an unpainted aluminum area with a shiny brass plate. I'm not sure what the little plate is for, but I suspect it's a bad idea to leave this area exposed to the elements. So I just rotate the collar so that the foot is above the camera and use the barrel and zoom ring as the place to hold the lens. This actually works better than holding it by the foot for two reasons: (a) much easier on your hand, and (b) better balance of the camera/lens when the lens is fully extended to 600mm.

Q: 7. Does this lens work with sigma's teleconverter and still have autofocus capabilities?

A: Practically speaking the teleconverters will not auto focus with this lens. The Sigma TC-1401 1.4x Teleconverter for Canon EF B&H # SITC1401C loses 1 stop of light so at 600 mm it will not auto focus. It should auto focus at 150 mm and f/5. The Sigma TC-2001 2x Teleconverter for Canon EF B&H # SITC2001C will not auto focus at any focal length on this lens. See the explanation on the product shown here.

Q: 8. Will this work with the Sony a9 with the mc11 adapter?

A: Yes, with the Sigman MC-11 adapter, this should work with the A9.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Canon R5 with a converter?

A: Yes it would be compatible.

Q: 10. Can I use this on a Manfrotto magnesium ball head with a quick release plate? or is it only compatible with Acra Swiss?

A: Yes, that combination is fine. You'll just need to attach the QR plate to the lens's tripod collar.

[0.705 lb] I tested the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary and the Canon RF 110-500mm against the Sigma 150-600mm Sports and sent photos to some of my friends ... the Sigma 150-600mm Sports came ahead about 80% of the time. I was able to tell the difference so decided that it was the best purchase for the money. I shot a nephew's baseball game and got some good action shots (it was about 10 a.m. so plenty of light - did not use a tripod or monopod) ... I am uploading some bird photos where I used a tripod (at sunset if there is movement you will get some blur) .. I took the sun at sunset just resting on a car door and I took the moon with a tripod and 10 second delay to avoid movement .. I am really pleased with this lens; definitely worth the price .. Hope this is helpful

[0.705 lb] This is my second lens of this focal length (the other is another by another manufacturer) and this lens weighs a little more, but is a very solid build. Fast Auto Focus for wildlife and I am super happy with this purchase.

[0.705 lb] If you enjoy outdoor/wildlife photography this is a must have. Admittedly I am a amateur, but this lens makes me feel like a pro. Took some time getting used to it and highly recommend shooting from a tripod. I am loving everything about this purchase.

[0.705 lb] I purchased this lens to have a lens with longer reach than my Canon EF 100-400L is capable of. I have not been disappointed. The photos are sharp and the lens is a joy to use. Well built and feels like a more expensive lens than it is. Along with it being well built comes some extra weight, however, the weight is manageable and very easy to hand hold to photograph birds in flight. I highly recommend this lens and B&H gave me a great deal on it as always. I also highly recommend B&H, I have been a loyal customer for a lot of years.

[0.705 lb] Starting bird and animal photography and this lens was a reasonable price point starting place. So far I am very pleased with the results. Tried handholding and that lasted about 30 minutes. Bought a Wimberley WH-200 and problem solved. Back in business. Once I had the gimbal setup correctly subject acquisition was quick and easy. Very happy with the results and really happy that I bought the gimbal!

[0.705 lb] This lens is massive! I compared it to my Canon 70-200mm, making it look like a prime lens. I'm pairing it with my Canon 5D IV, which produces lovely images straight from the camera. Seeing what I can capture outdoors with natural light would be nice.

[0.705 lb] I have only used it once but the few photos I have gotten are amazing! I am very satisfied with this lens. It is a bit heavy for hand holding but put it on tripod with a gimbal head or a mono-pod and you're good to go!

I am loving the extra reach at 600mm which I needed very much. I would strongly recommend this lens to anyone needing extra reach and quality images at a great price.

[0.705 lb] This lens produces amazingly sharp images once it has been properly calibrated to your camera body, using the Sigma dock and customization software which does not come with the lens. This process is very time consuming and requires a methodical approach to set the lens up for 16 different focal length/distance combinations, but the end result is worth it. In addition to reading the calibration instructions that come with the dock and software, I suggest reading several on-line write ups that will give you good perspectives on how to set up your calibration protocol. Lens features that I really like: the zoom lock switch that prevents lens focal length creep when carrying the lens, two detent positions that let you feel when your camera has been rotated into either the portrait or landscape orientation, the ability to zoom by either rotating or sliding the lens barrel - which ever works best for you, a very solid build quality for all parts of the lens including the aluminum lens hood, a very nice and substantial carrying case. The only negative I have come up with so far is the weight of the lens - about 7 pounds, which necessitates a tripod or monopod for truly sharp images at longer focal lengths and reasonable ISO settings. If you use an Arca Swiss tripod head, you will need to buy an adapter for the lens foot that comes with the lens. I should mention that this is my second Sigma 150-600mm Sport Lens. The first one I bought second hand and was not able to calibrate it correctly. I returned the first lens and bought this one new from B&H and I am very happy with it.

[0.705 lb] I have had this lens about a week, but so far am very happy with it. I took it out to shoot birds, and got a filter to shoot the sun, getting ready for the eclipse in April. I have a Canon 1DX MK III, and I was also using the Canon 1.4x ll extender. It integrated with it seamlessly. Focus is fast and accurate, colors are beautiful and I got a lot of very sharp images. Yes it is a beast, used a monopod most of the time, but able to do handheld for short periods without too much muscle fatigue. Takes a little getting used to rotating the zoom ring the opposite direction than what I was used to, but that's no problem. The build quality is rock solid. Looking forward to getting out there and shooting a lot more with this lens.
