Featuring a unique 15-layer multi-coated design, the Formatt Hitech 77mm Firecrest SuperSlim Polarizer Filterhelps to reduce reflections and glare as well as increase the overall saturation of an image. This unique polarizer filter is characterized by the advanced Firecrest coating, which offers full attenuation of UV light for increased clarity and contrast, as well as a marked reduction in surface reflections and protection against scratching.

A polarizing filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

The SuperSlim aluminum alloy filter ring measures 7.5mm-thick and its slim design helps to minimize the likelihood of vignetting. This filter features front threads for stacking additional filters or attaching a lens cap.

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

The 15-layer Firecrest coating has been applied directly to the filter glass by way of a vacuum-formed, hard-coated, electrolytic process. The multi-coating is water- and scratch-resistance for greater overall durability.

Firecrest coating attenuates UV contamination, as well as surface reflections, for increased contrast, clarity, and acuity.

Schott Superwite glass is used in order to maintain clear image quality and high light transmission.

The aluminum alloy SuperSlim filter ring measures 7.5mm-thick and features front threads for stacking additional filters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will it fit a sony 200-600mm lens

A: Yes, the Sony 200-600mm has a 95mm front filter thread, so this filter will fit.

Q: 2. Is it water resistant? Does it have water repellent coating?

A: The coatings associated with the PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter also result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

Q: 3. Are there any pros and cons between this Zeiss CP and a B+W Kaesemann CP?

A: I second the last reviewer. I have purchased and used both. Despite having a brass ring, the B+W has stuck to my lens thread. I even have a 72mm C-Pol filter by B+W with out of round adjustment ring. The worst part is that the polarizing film even has specks of dust trapped on the underside and mildly lifted at a small part of the edge (which I wasnt expecting for a Kaesmann). And there is even a part where the polarizing film was not even timed to meet the metal ring, leaving a micro gap prone to light leakage. Very disappointing for a B+W filter, given the price point. Otherwise, the optical quality was great. I have had mostly good luck with B+W filters except for this 72mm C-Pol and another 6-point star filter. Probably a QC issues at Schneider. The Zeiss is something else. The quality and craftsmanship are in a different league. The first thing you will notice when you open the package is the quality of the packaging. The filter comes out dust-free, a strong indication of a high-end facility from where it is produced. Dont be fooled by the aluminum ring. It easily tops all B+W filters I have ever used in terms of ease of attachment and removal. The machining of the threading is so precise it prevents any sticking at all. I have had zero issues in this regard. Optically, it is definitely no worse than B+W. but I dont know if it is better. QC is top notch just like any Zeiss products. Dont be discouraged by the fact that the Zeiss filter is made in Japan. Japanese are equally proud of their craftsmanship as their German counterparts. The extra cost is definitely worth the quality. All my future filters will be Zeiss.

Q: 4. Is this filter for nikon lens?

A: The filter is for a lens with a 95mm opening....I purchased it for my Zeiss lens

Q: 5. Will this stepping ring work with any 46/82 mm lens/ filter combination?

A: It working good with my lens.

Q: 6. Does this work with a Canon R5 24-105 lens (77mm) - and if so, can I screw it into the UV-Haze filer that I keep on this lens for protection?

A: Yes, the PolarPro 77mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter will work with a Canon 24-105mm lens; any 77mm filter will adapt to a Canon 24-105mm lens. We highly suggest using slim-profile filters to avoid vignetting issues.

Q: 7. Whether this filter can be used together with another VND Filter?

A: Yes, you can stack filters but be aware you may get vignetting when used with a wide angle lens.

Q: 8. I'm thinking in buying this CPL for my Zeiss Batis 2/25 - Is it hard to clean or take care? i do street photography in New York City - would a CPL be useful for the type of photos i capture? -Thanks!

A: The ZEISS filters are the best and with any filter requires care like your camera equipment so always use a microfiber cloth with bottled water prior to you shoot. You can always remove dust during processing in PS. Use this filter for shooting water and glass to remove reflections and it will bring out all colors but you can get the deep colors in processing. ZEISS optics are the best. When you use this filter you need to adjust it to the darkest point or your colors will not come out.

Q: 9. Hi everyone, besides of the fact that this filter makes your pictures pop, does it also protect the lens as well? (The lens I have is the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 with Sony A6000) Thank you.

A: Yes it does protect. Excellent alternative if you don't mined the light reduction

Q: 10. Will this work on the canon 24-70 rf f/2.8 L usm lens?

A: As the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens has 82mm front filter threads, yes, the ZEISS 82mm Carl ZEISS T* Circular Polarizer Filter would be compatible for use on the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens.

[77 mm] In the 105mm filter world, polarizers with front threads tend to be very thick and true thin filters generally do not have any front threads. This can become a problem on wide lenses like the Schneider Kreuznach 35mm or 40-80mm medium format lenses, especially if you also need to stack a neutral density filter. This filter, however is as thin as the slim filters that don't have front threads yet still incorporates them allowing you to stack a thin ND filter and still not vignette. I had initially ordered the Hoya filter which was touted as being slim but exchanged it for this one as it was actually twice the thickness of this filter. The optical quality of the Formatt HiTech polarizer is excellent, the coating is hydrophobic and it is stackable without making the stack too think for wide angle medium format lenses. Highly recommended!!!

[0.175 lb] Wanting to have a quality circular polarizing lens for my Olympus 25mm/f1.8 lens I took a chance on this filter and have been absolutely delighted in its performance. The filter just oozes quality and is very easy to use with either the EVF or in live view with the LCD screen to get just the right amount of polarization. It's been used in light rain and mist and the coatings on the filter just laugh at the drops that get on them. It's worth every penny I spent! I just wish the company had a 46mm variable ND filter too!

[77 mm] Excellent, excellent, excellent! I love this filter. The best circular Pola I have owned. The moment I put it on my lens for a test I knew I was a fan of Firecrest. There is minimal color shift as the filter is rotated and minimal light loss...truly a precision tool. I got this Pola to replace one that broke...currently using it on a 16mm-35mm Canon Lens. I am now happy the old one broke because the vignetting that haunted me from my old filter is forever gone!
