Dedicated to the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II telephoto, this digital camo LensCoat Cover for Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS IIfrom LensCoat Cover for Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS IIprovides waterproof protection for your investment. It also safeguards against scratches and impact, while offering a thermal barrier to keep your hands warm in cold conditions. The cover is easy to install and remove, sliding on like a sleeve and leaving no residue on the lens. It has clear, flexible PVC windows over the AF and IS controls and the distance scale. A small hole lines up with the camera's mount indicator to make quick, easy work of aligning the lens with the mount.

Another benefit of the LensCoat is that it helps break up the shape of your lens, making it less noticeable to wildlife so you're less likely to scare them off. The cover is made in the USA from 100% closed-cell neoprene. Included with it is an additional piece designed for use when the lens is zoomed out to 400mm. This accessory can be attached and removed quickly via the touch-fastener strip.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. After fitting this lens coat, can we put the lens hood in reverse ???

A: Yes, the hood can be reversed when using a lens coat.

Q: 2. Will this fit a Canon 700D?

A: 700D is known as the Canon EOS Rebel T5i in the USA. It has an EF mount and so does this lens. It should fit.

Q: 3. Can an extender, EF 1.4x III be used on the New 100-400 lens ?

A: Yes, you can use the Canon EF 1.4x III Extender on the 100-400mm lens, however you may lose autofocus.

Q: 4. I have 7D camera which one do you suggest for me to buy, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM or the new one that is schedule to release this December?

A: If the type of work you are purchasing a lens for includes subject matter very far away, such as birds/wildlife, then the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L II USM lens would be the best way to go. If you are shooting sports or subjects which are a bit closer, than the 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM lens would be the way to go.

Q: 5. Any suggestions as to best camp pattern? Arctic trip (only 1) and safaris in Africa top list. I am thinking digital as it seems to just break up the lens but new to this

A: Unfortunately, there is not one particular LensCoat pattern designed for use both in Arctic conditions and in jungle/savannah environments. Most photographers that will be shooting in multiple locations will purchase multiple lens coats. If you will only be taking each trip once and you do not want to invest in multiple lens coats, you may either use the lens as-is, or purchase the pattern for the location in which you think you will take the most images. The Digital Camo option would be good for arctic conditions and may have slightly more flexibility, but the color may stand out in sandy or wooden environments found in the jungle/savannah, for which the Realtree Max5 may be a better option.

Q: 6. How do you zoom with the neoprene on the barrel, or is it stuck at 400?

A: The sleeve that exactly fits over the barrel extended to 400mm attaches with a velcro strip. When you want to use as a zoom lens, you simply undo the velcro. I then refasten the velcro and hang the circular piece over my gimbal head where it can't get lost. When I hand hold, I just leave the extension cover off.

Q: 7. Does the 1.4 extender work with auto focus or not? Has anyone tried it?

A: Robert, I high level answer is that the 100-400 II works fine with a 1.4x TC (best with vs III) with the following qualifications. 1. You will loose one f stop when you attach a TC to the 100-400 II. 2. The lens drops from an f5.6@400mm to an f8@400mm when you attach a 1.4x TC. 3. Most of the consumer grade Canon cameras only support auto focus to f5.6, so the lens will not autofocus at f8. 4. I believe the only current generation cameras that focus at f8 (on the center point only) are 1Dx, 5dMIII, 7dMii. Not sure about the 6d. Hope this helps. 3. The lens has a variable aperture from f4.5-5.6 based on the focal length you have selected with the zoom. The

Q: 8. Sorry I have another question. I am really considering buying this wrap. But it is costly! Do you really feel it gets you closer to birds if you are also wearing camo clothes and hat? What if you are not wearing camo clothes, then does it even matter? Thank you.

A: I would say that it can, provided you are stealthy in other ways as well (no sudden movements, camo clothes). Breaking up the head profile is important, because birds get most nervous when they perceive they are being looked at. But it won't fool birds all the time, and there are limits. The wrap also protects your lens from scratches, so you could look at it as an investment, if you ever want to sell your lens one day.

Q: 9. Will this stay on the lense when using a close fitting case like the Think Tank Digital Holster 30 V2?

A: Yes, the LensCoat Cover for the Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S (Realtree Max4) will stay on if you put the lens into the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 30 V2.0 (Black).

Q: 10. How sharp is the new 100mm-400mm compared to the 5.6 400mm prime?

A: I am a 76 year old woman, average size...I can't believe how great this lens is. I shoot hand held and am happy to report this lens is sharp. I have never used the 400 prime and the reason I bought the 100-400 was weight and versatility considerations. I am so very happy to enjoy the freedom of hand held shooting with excellent results. I highly recommend this lens. btw, have used it hand held on Whale Watching trips (sharp tails) birding etc...just a real delight to use.

[0.26 lb] I purchased this not really sure I was going to like it. To my surprise, and relief, I really like this product. It not only offers a protective covering for the lens but it also provides a barrier between a cold metal lens and my fingers on winter days. It's easy to put on and take off again when not needed. Since it comes in pieces I can use only those segments I wish to use. This is s great produce; I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

[0.26 lb] I purchased this product to replace the market lens foot on the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens. The quality of the materiel is excellent and I would recommend this product. It fits all of the Arca style plates and is easy to install. It is a little bigger than the original lens foot, so it may take some getting used to. If your hand-holding the lens, it may be easier to rotate the lens foot to the top of the lens for better access to the zoom tension and focusing rings. Other than that, I think this is a great addition to the lens. See photo below.

[0.26 lb] I seem to be a bit clumsy at times and have dropped my camera/lens a couple of times. Luckily, nothing bad has happened but this is good insurance whenever it happens again. Easy to put on the lens.
