Dedicated to the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II telephoto, this Realtree Max4 camo LensCoat Lens Cover for Canon 100-400mm IS IIfrom LensCoat Lens Cover for Canon 100-400mm IS IIprovides waterproof protection for your investment. It also safeguards against scratches and impact, while offering a thermal barrier to keep your hands warm in cold conditions. The cover is easy to install and remove, sliding on like a sleeve and leaving no residue on the lens. It has clear, flexible PVC windows over the AF and IS controls and the distance scale. A small hole lines up with the camera's mount indicator to make quick, easy work of aligning the lens with the mount.

Another benefit of the LensCoat is that it helps break up the shape of your lens, making it less noticeable to wildlife so you're less likely to scare them off. The cover is made in the USA from 100% closed-cell neoprene. Included with it is an additional piece designed for use when the lens is zoomed out to 400mm. This accessory can be attached and removed quickly via the touch-fastener strip.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any warranty for this lens

A: This product has a one year, limited manufacturer's warranty.

Q: 2. Anyone know if this lens focuses beyond infinity? I'm thinking of stacking a 1.4x and 2.0x using a 12mm extension tube for the eclipse.

A: Just use manual focus, setting a tiny bit this side of infinity.

Q: 3. Does this one fit the newer RF version of the same lens? The CANON RF 400 F2.8 IS.

A: No. designed and made for the Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS III Lens only.

Q: 4. Will this lens work with Canon Rebel T1i?

A: Hi, the Canon 100-400 lens is designed for Full Frame cameras. This lens can still be mounted onto your Canon T1i which has an EF-S mount.

Q: 5. How do you zoom with the neoprene on the barrel, or is it stuck at 400?

A: The sleeve that exactly fits over the barrel extended to 400mm attaches with a velcro strip. When you want to use as a zoom lens, you simply undo the velcro. I then refasten the velcro and hang the circular piece over my gimbal head where it can't get lost. When I hand hold, I just leave the extension cover off.

Q: 6. Does this fit the 400 2.8 ii non is?Can't find the difference in specs between the i and ii

A: I contacted LensCoat with your inquiry. Unfortunately, they do not have a LensCoat designed for the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L II USM (non-IS) lens released in 1996. Due to the small design differences between the lenses, none of the current LensCoat options would be compatible for use with the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L II USM lens you own. LensCoat states that if you contact them directly and if they can find a copy of the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L II USM lens, they may be able to make a custom LensCoat for $195.00. I hope that helps.

Q: 7. Will this stay on the lense when using a close fitting case like the Think Tank Digital Holster 30 V2?

A: Yes, the LensCoat Cover for the Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S (Realtree Max4) will stay on if you put the lens into the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 30 V2.0 (Black).

Q: 8. Does this fit the version II lens?

A: The LensCoat Lens Cover for Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS III Lens (Realtree Max5) is not compatible with the Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS II Lens. For that lens you need this LensCoat Lens Cover for the Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS II Lens (Realtree Max5). https://bhpho.to/4bgRnc2

Q: 9. Sorry I have another question. I am really considering buying this wrap. But it is costly! Do you really feel it gets you closer to birds if you are also wearing camo clothes and hat? What if you are not wearing camo clothes, then does it even matter? Thank you.

A: I would say that it can, provided you are stealthy in other ways as well (no sudden movements, camo clothes). Breaking up the head profile is important, because birds get most nervous when they perceive they are being looked at. But it won't fool birds all the time, and there are limits. The wrap also protects your lens from scratches, so you could look at it as an investment, if you ever want to sell your lens one day.

Q: 10. Does this fit the older style 100-400 L push/pull style lens?

A: No, this one will only fit the version 2 lens, if you have. Version1, you will need the cover specifically made for that lens, hope this helps

[9 x 8.5 x 1.5"] I seem to be a bit clumsy at times and have dropped my camera/lens a couple of times. Luckily, nothing bad has happened but this is good insurance whenever it happens again. Easy to put on the lens.

[0.25 lb] I've had this for a few weeks. Used daily. Can't attest to the long term durability, but seems like quality construction. Think of a big camo can coozie for your lens. I use a piece of camo mesh rubber banded over the zoom ring, and the lens hood so that I can use the zoom function. If you use the included camo for the zoom extension tube, then you have to leave the lens at 400mm. So far, so good. As far as the price, if you own this lens, then you can afford this product. Quit pussyfooting around and just buy it. Btw, the day after I installed it, I got within 30 feet of a doe and it's fawn. That would have never happened without the camo.

[0.25 lb] Pretty much as described. Nice when it's cold outside and you don't have to touch a cold lens.
