For mirrorless shooters, or anyone that needs to cover a Super35 sized sensor, this Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens for Canon EFutilizes a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens. With consistent coatings the lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Canon EF mount, and it features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses.

To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens. A removable petal shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, and the lens's threaded front accepts 77mm filter rings.

This 16mm lens produces 79.5° angle of view when used with a camera with an APS-C sensor. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations and feature a minimum focus distance of 7.9"' from the lens.

Ultra Multicoated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.

Features industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series shares common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories, such as follow focus units or iris motors, don't have to be re-positioned.

The lens features an internal focus mechanism, so the front of the lens doesn't rotate when changing focus, allowing you to use filters and clip-on matte boxes without vignetting as you change (pull) focus.

The lens features an 8-bladed iris that provides round out-of-focus highlights and a natural-looking Bokeh. The declicked aperture ring allows for smooth iris pulls.

A removable lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

The lens opens up to T2.2, providing the capability for low light shooting or creating a shallow depth of field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If this lens is designed for APS-C sensors, then what is it an equivalent to on a BMPCC with Metabones Speedbooster (With a combined crop factor of 1.74x). I really want to get the DS version so I can build a good set, and am looking for a 24mm equivalent, which would be a 16mm (16x1.74 = 24mm). I really don't want to get a 14mm lens as in the future I won't use such a wide lens with a FF sensor. anyone know?

A: On the C100's Super35 sensor using this 16mm lens yes you would get approximately the FOV of a 24mm lens being used on a Full Frame sensor. In the future, just learn what the wide, normal and tele mm's are for the Super35/APS-C sensor. Then you do not have to calculate FOV for a sensor you are not using.

Q: 2. Will this lense work with the Nikon D3100?

A: The Nikon D3100 is an DX/APS-C size sensor camera and this is a DX/APS-C lens so you are good to go.

Q: 3. Is this lens autofocus or manual focus?

A: This is a fully manual lens for both focus and aperture.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the BlackMagic Ursa?

A: It is not. This link is for a Sony E-Mount lens. More than likely the Ursa will have an EF mount which means you would need BH #RO1622C instead. This is the EF mount version of this lens. https://bhpho.to/2vBDebd

Q: 5. Will this lens cover a RED Epic Mysterium sensor in 5K HD?

A: This lens creates an image circle of 26.70mm. The RED Epic needs lenses that can cover it's 29.7 image circle sensor. So unfortunately this will not work. A lens for full frame cameras is the way to go.

Q: 6. Will this lens work on the cannon 6d?

A: Not really. The image circle from this lens is designed for APS-C size sensors, not full frame sensors such as what are used in the Canon 6D, 5D series, and 1D series EOS cameras. A full frame sensor will reproduce a circular image. with a black border. The 14mm lens is designed for full frame sensors.

Q: 7. Can I use this with the BMPCC 4K with a SpeedBooster Ultra (.71)? Even though it's an ASPC lens will it work?

A: Your focal length magnification will differ but you can use the Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens for Canon EF Mount for APS-C with a Speedbooster Ultra (.71x).

Q: 8. WHAT is the AOV of this lens on a BMPCC super 16 sensor ??

A: The original Pocket Cinema Camera has a 2.88x crop factor. This would be the equivalent of a 46mm lens on that camera.

Q: 9. Is this lens good for a Nikon D3100?

A: Hi there. This is a good wide lens, solid overall performance, sharpest at T4/T4.8 in my usage. The crop factor would be 1.54x I believe.

Q: 10. what is the difference between the Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount for APS-C and the Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds?

A: B&H Number RO1622MFT is the DS Model, where as B&H Number RO1622TM43DS is the Original Model. DS stands for dual sided meaning the DS Model has focus and iris markers on both sides of the lens. The DS model is also newer with improved optics over the original version of the lens.

[Super35/APS-C] This lens is perfect for getting footage of landscapes, it's pretty fast so it's also good in low light. Very happy with this lens, I love the manual focus and aperture (smooth transition between stops rather than clicks).

[7 x 5.2 x 5.1"] The lens has been my go-to wide angle for years. I finally picked up my own, and I use it primary with a gh4 with a speedbooster. The image covers the sensor, although with some slight vignetting that is pleasing if anything. PROS: -Value -Amazingly sharp, even wide open. -Little distortion for 16mm -Takes standard 77mm filters -Great build quality for price -Very smooth focus -Fast with pleasing depth of field -Super close focus CONS: -Not weather sealed -Only covers crop sensors, but can be speedboosted fine. -Not as high quality as professional cine lenses, as expected. -Plastic filter thread

[T22] I bought this to adapt and use with my BMPCC and it works great. Sharp lens, T-stops are nice. Very smooth focus and de-clicked aperture. Great for use with a follow focus and only $20 more than the non cine version.
