For mirrorless shooters, or anyone that needs to cover a Super35 sized sensor, this Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens for MFT & APS-Cutilizes a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens. With consistent coatings the lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Micro Four Thirds mount, and it features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses.

To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens. A removable petal shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, and the lens's threaded front accepts 77mm filter rings.

This 16mm lens produces 67.6° angle of view when used with a camera with a Four Thirds sensor. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations and feature a minimum focus distance of 7.9"' from the lens.

Ultra Multicoated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.

Features industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series shares common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories, such as follow focus units or iris motors, don't have to be re-positioned.

The lens features an internal focus mechanism, so the front of the lens doesn't rotate when changing focus, allowing you to use filters and clip-on matte boxes without vignetting as you change (pull) focus.

The lens features an 8-bladed iris that provides round out-of-focus highlights and a natural-looking Bokeh. The declicked aperture ring allows for smooth iris pulls.

A removable lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

The lens opens up to T2.2, providing the capability for low light shooting or creating a shallow depth of field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens cover a RED Epic Mysterium sensor in 5K HD?

A: This lens creates an image circle of 26.70mm. The RED Epic needs lenses that can cover it's 29.7 image circle sensor. So unfortunately this will not work. A lens for full frame cameras is the way to go.

Q: 2. what is the difference between the Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount for APS-C and the Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds?

A: B&H Number RO1622MFT is the DS Model, where as B&H Number RO1622TM43DS is the Original Model. DS stands for dual sided meaning the DS Model has focus and iris markers on both sides of the lens. The DS model is also newer with improved optics over the original version of the lens.

Q: 3. Will this work with a super 35 sensor? More specifically Ursa Mini 4k?

A: Yes. APS-C is Super 35

Q: 4. Does it fish eye at all - or just a solid wide lens?

A: There is some barrel distortion that will be seen in shooting straight lines and doing pans. However, it is not severe and is in keeping with other wide angle lenses of this focal length. In other words, no fish-eye effect.

Q: 5. Will this lense work with the Nikon D3100?

A: The Nikon D3100 is an DX/APS-C size sensor camera and this is a DX/APS-C lens so you are good to go.

Q: 6. WHAT is the AOV of this lens on a BMPCC super 16 sensor ??

A: The original Pocket Cinema Camera has a 2.88x crop factor. This would be the equivalent of a 46mm lens on that camera.

Q: 7. Would this lens be compatible with the Black Magic Studio Camera (not the 4K)? I don't see it listed in the Compatibility section, but if it's MFT...shouldn't it fit?

A: Yes this lens is compatible with the Blackmagic Studio Camera.

Q: 8. A 16mm APS-C lens on a APS-C camera, is the equivalent of a 16mm full frame lens on a full frame camera? OR the equivalent of a 16mm full frame lens on a APS-C camera? I think the angle of view of a 16mm full frame lens on an APS-C camera is 82°50 and a 16mm full frame lens on a full frame camera is 106°60?

A: Lenses are listed by their focal length and from there they are subject to the crop factor of the camera. This lens will be subject to the standard 1.5x crop factor of an APS-C Sensor and will be the equivalent of a 24mm lens.

Q: 9. I see this isn't listed as a full frame lens, I own a Canon 5d mark IV any issues for full frame cameras?

A: While you could mount this on your 5D Mark IV, it is not recommended for you to do so. That is because the resultant image will have severe blackening of the corners known as vignetting. There are no affordable 16mm full frame lenses. But your are in luck in that there are 14mm full frame lenses available. Here is one we can recommend. Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Cine DS Lens for Canon EF Mount B&H # RO1431C.

Q: 10. I should get this as opposed to the 14mm full frame for a c300 me llamo?

A: The c300 has a super 35 sensor which is roughly equivalent to APS-C, therefore an APS-C lens would be the best fit for that camera.

[8] I bought this to adapt and use with my BMPCC and it works great. Sharp lens, T-stops are nice. Very smooth focus and de-clicked aperture. Great for use with a follow focus and only $20 more than the non cine version.

[T2.2] I bought the MFT version. Focal length is equal to 28mm. Great for wide shots. My only complaint is that I wish the lens was faster but it's very clear. I have the Rokinon 24mm and 80mm. Hopefully in the future I can own the whole set!

[T2.2] Very cinematic quality on the BMPCC6k. Flare isn't bad, contrast is good, very sharp, no distortion. Build quality is great for it's price range. Gotta love Rokinon.

[Super35/APS-C] This lens is great!! As an editor I have seen footage from a lot of cameras and and lot of lenses and if you are using a cropped sensor camera this lens is perfect for getting a cinematic wide look in your shot. Nice clear shots with great lens flare effects.

[16mm] I've fallen in love with the Rokinon Cine DS series. These are perfect lenses for the BMPCC 6K as they're full manual cine lenses with cine gears for follow focus systems.

This lens isn't as fast as the other Cine DS T1.5 lenses but the angle of view, even cropped at 1.63 is phenomenal, but you have to drop one stop from T3.1 as they will have a chromatic shift fully opened, as a cinematographer tho you're likely shooting T4-5.6-8 depending on your lighting situation.

The only drawback of this lens is the fixed hood which isn't removable. It's not a bad thing, but just a little weird if trying to use it with a matte box.
