The Large Daylight Senior is the largest, most durable softbox Chimera makes. It is designed for use with a Fresnel up to 24,000 Watts with a front diameter between 24 and 29 inches.

It utilizes an extremely deep profile of 50 inches. The extra depth of the Daylight Senior (it's about 30% deeper than the Quartz softboxes) allows the fresnel beam to spread out and cover the front face more evenly. This extra depth, combined with a fabric that is even more heat resistant, makes the box safe when used with a 24Klight.

The "Plus" designation means the front face is removable. Chimera makes different strengths of diffusion material for front face applications. The softbox comes with a one stop diffusion cloth, and additional 1/2 and 1/4 grid cloths. Substituting a half or quarter difusion or taking off the interior baffle would result in even more contrast, slightly more light transmission, and less softening of the light.

The real benifit of the large 54x72" size is the softest light possible.

The recessed front face helps to make the soft source more directional, and enables addition of a honeycomb grid, soft fabric grid or louvers.

Required Speed (mounting) Rings are available separately for many manufacturers' lights.

A: These barndoors are useful in preventing glare that could bounce back to the camera as well as minimizing light spill. A grid focuses the entire beam down and the size of the beam would be dependent on the size of the grid (in degrees). For example, a 40 degree grid would yield a less focused beam versus a 20 degree.

[9.85 lb] Build quality is top notch with metal rods and not fiberglass of lesser brands. Light quality is outstanding as expected from Chimera light modifiers. Set up is quick with the Chimera quick release speed ring. While pricier than some other brands, I feel that it was worth it for what I'm sure will be many years of use. 5

[Silver] It's been a great way to light interviews for years. Makes your subjects looks great. I usually use it with either a 650W or 1K light. You'll need a speed ring for every light you plan to put it on. This is my second one of these. The one I bought 4 years ago is still in great shape. But sometimes I've got two shoots going on simultaneously, so I needed a second one. 5

[Yes, Removable] Our old Chimera softbox had seen better days. After it started smoking because a sagging portion came into direct contact with the bulb, well, we decided to buy a new one. The softbox arrived quickly and in perfect condition. We noticed that our lighting situation is much improved, primarily because our old softbox was dingy with a decade of use. It's like someone said, Let there be light! We are thrilled with the website, the delivery time, and the quality of the new softbox. 5

[Silver] Chimera makes a great product! They also have great service and repairs! This is my fourth Medium Quartz soft box! Perhaps my twelfth chimera box. Be careful when you order, defiantly get the Plus series because you can change the front material from the full Muslin to 1/2 grid to 1/4 grid. My normal combo is the 1/2 and 1/4 grid together! This combo give me a large soft source but it still has some spark! Additionally, I reccomend the 40degre or the 30 degree egg crates! Get one and enjoy! 5

[Yes] I put this on the front of my Barger 6 light. This is the industry standard for the film industry. The light is perfect for an interview. I've used them on major tv shows. What an awesome soft box! 5
