The Heliopan 105mm Circular Polarizing Filterfrom Heliopan 105mm Circular Polarizing Filtercan turn an average shot into a "keeper". With its renowned Schott glass composition and resilient black brass filter ring, this filter offers you features that make it well-worth the investment for both traditional film and digital shooters.

This filter is also unique in design since its slim black brass filter ring is indexed so that if you're not using a traditional SLR, you'll be able to set the rotating ring to a precise setting each time you wish to achieve the same degree of polarization. The brass composition of the filter ring is a benefit since it is less prone to jamming when placing or removing it. Heliopan Slim Circular Polarizers have no front threads

Heliopan has incorporated High-Transmission technology into this filter. It will pass 98.8% of the light passing through it with only a 1-stop loss of light and with no color change to the image. In addition, their highly regarded SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating (8-layers on each side) gives the filter an edge when it comes to durability, flare reduction as well as dust and moisture-resistance. Anyone who wants to shoot landscapes will find this filter is excellent when it comes to enhancing the blue of the sky as well as making the clouds more distinct. On water, you'll use it to eliminate reflections. And, again, with its substantial multi-coated protection, you'll find it easier to clean when spray or dirt lands on the glass surface.

Heliopan has been a leader in the filter industry since 1949. They are known for their high quality and production standards. Heliopan offers most of their filters with either their standard hard coating or with their industry leading SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating that transmits over 98.8% of the light striking it on the image plane for the lowest flare and greatest color saturation.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi does this filter have a front screw in thread... so I can add an adapter ring to the front?Cheers,Dean.

A: Yes, the Heliopan 72mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter has 72mm front threads.

Q: 2. what is difference between polarizing filter model 706261 and 706262?

A: The 706262 is a slim filter, which means it's frame is not as thick. This is important on a wide angle lens, as you will get vignetting on a thicker filter.

Q: 3. I have the cannon 70D. Will this filter fits my lens?

A: It will depend on the lens you are using on the Canon 70D. This filter will fit a lens with a 72mm filter thread.

Q: 4. Does Canon offer a blank cover if you elect not to use the CP of ND filter?

A: Yes this is the blank drop in filter compatible with the Canon drop in EF RF adapter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434115-REG/canon_3444c001_drop_in_clear_filter_a.html

Q: 5. Is there a benefit to this Heliopan which costs x3 times the B+W high transmission counterpart? Thanks!

A: This Heliopan 77mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter provides greater light transmission at 99.8%, which is about the same as a clear UV filter, but in a circular polarizer which usually loses much more light on average. Both filters have a brass metal filter ring. And Heliopan offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty, over the other's Limited 1-Year Warranty.

Q: 6. I ordered a Sony RX1R from you that was delivered today. Will this filter work with the RX1R? If not, which filter do you recommend. Thanks.

A: Yes, that filter is the correct size for your camera's lens. It will work very well.

Q: 7. Regarding the Heliopan 52mm Slim Circular Polarizer SH-PMC Filter (705240), does anyone know if this filter will work with the larger Canon lenses (300mm f2.8, 400mm DO ...) that have rear mount drop-in filter holders. The issue is that 52mm screw in filters fit in the filter holder but when sliding the filter holder into the slot in the lens it does not fit because the filter is too thick. Is this particular filter slim enough to work with the above lenses? Please help.

A: Unfortunately this type of filter is built to be used on the outside of the lens, and is too thick to work inside a drop-in filter slot. Most circular polarizers, with their moving parts, will be too thick to use.

Q: 8. Would this filter work with my Canon EOS Rebel T4i. I'm not sure what the 58mm means? I am using a Sigma 50mm 1:2.8 DG macro lens

A: The filter size with be the same as your lens cover. The size should be on back of lens cover.

Q: 9. What is the thickness with and without threads of this filter?

A: The filter is approximately 5mm w/o threads and approximately 8mm with threads.

Q: 10. How many stops of exposure does this reduce?

A: This will reduce 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 stops of light

[Glass] Filters out all the light you don't want when shooting outdoors, great for the desert or the beach.. like a great pair of polarized sunglasses, you can actually see. Best piece of equipment I've invested in for a while, I totally recommend this product to anyone that's serious about landscapes, cloudscapes, it's top notch.

[0.5 lb] I used on Canon 100-400 for photographing waterfowl, wading birdswhere reflections may be an issue. On a telephoto the 1-stop filter is an asset.

[0.5 lb] Used with Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens. On this top-of-the-line lens the more costly Heliopan polarization filter performs much better than the lower end polarization filters. The picture quality is outstanding. The brass filter rings have a smooth motion and does not get jerky or stuck as do the aluminum rings do some times.

[Glass] I am a big fan of Heliopan! And this filter is no exception! Smooth rotation, high light transmission, indexed ring, it is awesome! Heliopan is a bit more expensive, but in the filter optics realm, I find you get what you pay for! Great filter! Go ahead, pull the trigger!

[Glass] I own several DSLR lenses, and also some newly acquired Medium Format Lenses that take 77mm filters. I also have many CPL filters in my collection from all of the major brands. Prices on all of these range from moderate, to high end. This one is an excellent filter, and should be considering the price. I purchased this one for two reasons. Higher Light transmission, and also the numbered markings on the front ring so that I could record, and return to specific setting when needed, or as needed. Glass quality, and that sort of thing are certainly a plus. If you need these kind of features this may be a consideration for you. Final note here. If you are even a casual filter user, BUY A FILTER WRENCH! (B&H has them and they are cheap!) They can save the day for you. I can't even tell you how many times I have helped people in the field with a stuck filter. Always amazes me that people spend a great deal of money on filters and do not own a wrench. B&H selection, service and price is always great as usual.

[Glass] I purchased this high end filter for ny Caanon 24-70 2.8 II lens, and received it in time for a trip to Grand Canyon, and scenes out west. Overall, love the filter. This is not my first, or only polarizer. I primarily shoot wildlife, but this was my first try at landscape. What I learned was that this lens can not only be esed for the usuall purposes of reducing glare and improving color saturation, it was excellent for use at decreasing the sky contrast (sort of a ND filter) without making it overly blue. One downside that I have with the filter is that it tends to be hard to unscrew from the lens. I therefore try not to put it on at all tightly. It is very well made, and will help you get a great image. I recommend it. sek

[0.5 lb] Spend the bit of extra money on a good filter as it is worth the cost. Good construction, great picture quality...an excellent product.

[0.5 lb] I carefully studied the market of polarization filters for a long time, tested filters from Nikon, B+W, and the old Heliopan model. This model of Heliopan (6-7 years old) stood out for the better among filters from other manufacturers. The new model has become even better: the first improvement is the loss of brightness by only 1.2-1.5 steps, the colors are the most neutral among other manufacturers, the purity and contrast of the picture is at the highest level!

If you try to look through the filter, you get the feeling that there is no glass in it, has so much high-quality multi-coating enlightenment! And all objects are perceived extremely juicy with high contrast. In cloudy weather - the filter transmits colors amazingly accurate, and also increases the contrast of the image.
The mechanically - filter is made exclusively at the highest standards - a very convenient indexed ring, an extremely useful option when dark twilight, and visually it is not easy to see through the cameras viewfinder. The rotation of the ring is very smooth and soft.
Despite at the high price - this filter is worth the investment
