The Cokin A Series Hard-Edge Graduated Tobacco Filteris designed for use with a Cokin A Series Filter Holder. It can be used to add a tobacco tint to complement an existing sunrise or sunset within a scene, or to otherwise enhance a hazy or colorless sky. When used to enhance the sky within an image, the desired effect can be applied only to the sky, without any unwanted changes to any other part of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A graduated filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images which include defined horizon lines. This filter has up to a 0.6 density and reduces light from entering a lens by up to two stops.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which Cokin neutral density kit works with Sony a6000?

A: That will depend on the lens you are using with the A6000, not the camera itself. This kit comes with adapters for lenses with a 67, 72, 77 or 82mm filter thread.

Q: 2. Is there something in the package that can protect the filters in the field? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks for your help! :)

A: Not really. The filter comes wrapped in a lens cloth, inside a cardboard sleeve that is inside a plastic sleeve. Basically sales & shipping packaging, but it can be used temporarily. There are dedicated filter containers that would be better in the field.

Q: 3. Are these compatible with the Cokin NX filter holder?

A: Unfortunately, the Cokin Z-Pro Series Hard-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filter Kit cannot fit the Cokin NX Holder due to the thinner design on these filters.

Q: 4. What size filter rings come in the traveller's kit?

A: The Cokin P-series Traveler's Kit does not come with the required lens filter adapters to attach the filter holder to your lens. You may purchase them separately, and they are available in various sizes, between 48mm to 82mm sizes. https://bhpho.to/3DIV0aK

Q: 5. Will this filter kit work with a Fuji Fujinon SWD 90mm F/5.6 large format lens without vignetting?

A: Yes, 4x4 filters are great and will prevent vignetting issues more then a traditional threaded filter.

Q: 6. Can this be used with the LEE 100 Filter or LEE Foundation system holder ?

A: I'm sorry, no, the Cokin A filter is too small to be used in the Lee filter holder.

Q: 7. Is this a hard grad ND filter? I believe it is from the description but wanted to check. My instructor urges me to buy a 2-stop or 3-stop soft graduated neutral density (grad ND) filter. If this is not the right one which one do you offer for the A series of Cokin filters?

A: Yes, this is a hard graduated ND filter. The soft 121 Graduated ND filter by Cokin is designated as such with an S after the number, so you are going to want this one: http://bhpho.to/1hwdrCw

Q: 8. What is the difference between the Cokin P121 and the P121S graduated neutral density filters? Both are stated to be 3-stop graduated filters. Does the s version make a more gradual transition from clear to dark than the base 121?

A: The S version is a softer graduation

Q: 9. Can we use z cokin filter on Lee holder?

A: Sorry that I can not help but I use the Cokin filter holderPeter

Q: 10. How many stops of light do the different numbers cut out?

A: The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Blue 4 Hard Edge Graduated Filter is not an ND filter; it changes the color of half the image. The different numbers give you different intensities of blue.
