What makes the Broncolor Para 133 Reflector - Studio Lighting Toolfrom Broncolor Para 133 Reflector - Studio Lighting Toolunique is the system's ability to focus or defocus the rear-firing light head via a central column. Focusing the beam by moving the head away from the reflector's center gives you a hard, highly directional output, somewhat like a large spot. Defocusing the beam by moving it toward the apex of the parabolic reflector allows the segmented Para to fracture the light into 24 smaller sources that soften the output while maintaining a crisp textural quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Using #MA297BBASE + #MA142CS will be safe enough to move around a Para 133 kit with an Einstein attached to the Focusing Tube?

A: The Matthews Junior Steel stand BH #MALSJTR has a footprint of 56" and would be more suitable for use with a Broncolor Para 133 Reflector Kit with Focusing Tube BH #BRP133RK.

Q: 2. What's the difference between this kit and the FT Kit?

A: The main difference between the units is the BroncolorPara 133 FT Reflector Kit (52 )B&H#BRP133HRRKFT, would be their heat-resistant option designed for use with both hot lights and strobes, and has a maximum wattage recommendation of 2,000W Tungsten / 1600W HMI for hot light usage. The BroncolorPara 133 Reflector Kit with Focusing TubeB&H#BRP133RK, is a more economical option which is designed for strobe usage only, and is not heat-resistant for hot light usage.

Q: 3. o if also using the para 133 for video and continuous light, the HR feature is needed? Also, am I correct i that the FT version is also required to use the 800L? Does the 800L generate enough power to use the full range of the para 133?

A: The 800L has enough power for this model.

Q: 4. What adapter do I need to use this Para with Siros?

A: You need this adapter to use the Siros Monolight, Broncolor Pulso Head Adapter for Para 88 FB, B&H # BRAPP88FS MFR # B-33.489.00.Note you need to take the dome off of the Siros to use it with this adapter and Para 133.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Broncolor pulse

A: Yes, this can be used with the broncolor Pulso lamps and any other broncolor-bayonet flash lamps via adapter broncolor Para adapter for broncolor (B&H # BRAPP88FS / MFR # B-33.489.00), sold separately.

Q: 6. What does a ready to shoot kit with the 133 hmi cost, if i dont have any Broncolor gear already?

A: Hi there we recommend looking at the Broncolor Para 133 FT Reflector Kit (52 ) B&H # BRP133HRRKFT MFR # B-41.175.00 and Broncolor HMI FT1600 Kit (90-265 VAC) B&H # BRHMI1600LHB MFR # B-42.118.02, these two items paired together offer a great HMI solution with Para 133.

Q: 7. is there an adaptor arrangement to use para with Profoto B1 or D2 ?

A: You may use the Broncolor Para Adapter for Profoto, BH # BRPAP88FB to attach the Profoto B1 and D2 to the Para 133 Reflector. https://bhpho.to/3JqMaS1

Q: 8. What is included with this kit?

A: The kit comes with,The Para 133Focusing Device with Tilt Head4 x Suspension RopesFlash Bag 2 without InsertAccessory BagLimited 2-Year Warranty

Q: 9. So if I already have the Siros 800L, I require a Para 133 to have the HR and FT designation: and because, the HR denotes the ability of the Para 133 to absorb/reflect the heat of the 800L's mono light, and that the 800L requires the FT focusing rod?

A: This kit is for heat resistance and is really set up for other lights. It is better to get this kit, Broncolor Para 133 Reflector Kit with Focusing Tube B&H # BRP133RK MFR # B-33.550.03And this adapter Broncolor Pulso Head Adapter for Para 88 FB B&H # BRAPP88FS MFR # B-33.489.00

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Siros 800 S?

A: For use with the Siros 800S, we recommend the 133 Reflector Kit (BH #BRP133RK ) along with the coinciding broncolor Para adapter (BH #BRAPP88FS). The FT-designated reflector kits are designed to work primarily with broncolor's HMI and Tungsten FT lamp systems.

[Textured silver] Truly amazing modifier. A picture is worth 5,000 words in this case.

[Textured silver] This diffuser was recommended by Broncolor expert, Urs Recher, to diffuse the glossy surface of the large para when shooting multiple subjects. For one person, the Para 177 or 222 without the diffuser is amazing as is but with 2 or three subjects the one in the center gets the proper light focus and the people to the sides or above and below can pick up some inconsistent reflections.

The number 2 diffuser provides one stop of diffusion - enough to even out the lighting across multiple subjects while still maintaining the characteristics of the original 24 reflective panels.

It is very well made and fits tight, requiring the points on the outer diameter of the para to be pinched together slightly during application. It's not required but it does add a different look when shooting with the para fully defocused (extended) especially with multiple subjects.

[5.7 lb (2.6 kg)] This reflector helps crest beautiful light.
It’s also very durable, well made.

[Textured silver] One of the problems with most light modifiers that have parabolic in their name is that they are not. This has some implications for how they work as light shapers. The unique thing about a parabolic reflector is that of you place a light at the ficus, it will be reflected in parallel lines. One immediate consequence is that the inverse square law no longer applies and the light will travel very far and stay bright.
You can test if a reflector is parabolic by using a small bright flashlight at the focus point and shine it over the surface of the reflector. If it is parabolic, the reflected light should remain within the diameter of the reflector no matter where it hits the reflecting surface. Alternatively, put a modeling light on and position the flash head at the focus point and check the reflected patch on the wall. If you move the para closer or further away, the size of the patch should not change since the light coming out is coming out in parallel lines and the circle should not get bigger or small as the distance from the wall is changed.
The Broncolor Para 133 is exactly what is on the box: parabolic!
Of course, considering the fact that I can buy a small car for the same price, it absolutely should be what it says it is! Highly recommended for the lighting effects it can create.

[Textured silver] Peerless light output. Excellent build quality, easy setup and teardown.

Not sure what that other reviewer's deficiency is, but the Siros lights work with the Para series just fine... you can even find countless images with Siros lights attached to paras.

[5.7 lb (2.6 kg)] This grid helps control the spread of light when the 133 is used in the focused position. Because the surface of the Para is somewhat diffuse, the grid helps to control the spread. It's a subtle difference but noticeable when trying maintain the emphasis on the main subject. The light characteristics on the subject in the focused position with and without the grid is much the same - but the spread to the background and other areas is reduced with the grid. The grid required about an additional four tenths of a stop of light. Useful if you require precision lighting when shooting fully focused.

[5.7 lb (2.6 kg)] As a Parabolix user in the past I was very curious to try this Para. Besides the obvious deployment speed (30x faster?) the light produced by the Para is also different. Absolutely no hot spot in the middle if flooded. I'm not sure if that's the material, shape or just the wrinkles in the Parabolix preventing it to match the Para, but you definitely get what you pay for. Here is a comparison: Parabolix 45 vs Para 133, both fitted with a Profoto Pro head. The Para delivers exceptional light that requires very little or no work in post, which is impressive.
