Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What type of 3.5mm adapter is recommended to connect this mic to rode wireless go transmitter?

A: The MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic is not compatible directly with the Wireless Go II transmitter, and would need a minimum of 12V phantom power via an external source in order to work. While this is possible, It would be much simpler and overall, cheaper, to just opt for a mic that is powered by the 3-5V Plug-in power supplied by the Wireless Go II transmitter.

Q: 2. Would I be able to use this mic on a Polson Transmitter without any issues?

A: Yes as long as the jack size is the same..... Mike works great.

Q: 3. Does it requieres 48V phantom power?

A: No 48v will damage mic only 1.5 to 5volts on the transmitter to power mic, if you only have Phantom Power 48volts, get a lavaier with an XLR connection instead.

Q: 4. Will it work with a Tascam recording device?

A: I am not aware of any Tascam recorders that will connect to this microphone. This mic is designed to work with AKG Wireless Transmitters only.

Q: 5. According to Sennheiser, this mic should work with iphone core audio. Which means any recording app that is capable of switching its input should work. No?

A: I use it with Voice Record Pro and it works perfectly. Dennis Murphy

Q: 6. I am looking at purchasing this mic to use when making videos with my Canon 5D Mark III. I will need an XLR cable that will be compatible with the 3.5mm mic jack on the camera, but I have had an audio phasing problem before when using a friend's mic (this same model) and an XLR cable. Do I need a certain XLR cable so I won't have the audio phasing problem?

A: Not all XLR to 3.5mm are wired correctly for this application. we do offer solutions that will allow you to correctly connect XLR mics toa DSLR or similar device. The Kopul LMT-100 is a great choice. This will convert the XLR to your mini jack input as well as match impedance. For a longer cable solution the Hosa Camcorder cables are also wired correctly.

Q: 7. Will this mic work with an Audio-Technica AT8537 Phantom Power Supply Module?

A: The AKG C417 is not compatible with the Audio Technica power supplies. In order to power this mic with phantom or battery, the AKG MPAVL adapter is necessary which converts to standard XLR. This will then allow you to connect to a phantom power supply.

Q: 8. How long is the cable for this microphone?

A: The ECM 55B features a 9.8 ft (3.0m) cable.

Q: 9. If I have a zoom recorder, which can output 24 or 48 phantom power, which is better to choose for this mic or it doesn't matter?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with XLR Connector & MZ 2 Accessory Set accepts anywhere between 13 and 48 volts of phantom power. To avoid confusion when using the same input for other microphones, it might be simplest to use 48v.

Q: 10. I have a Phantom 48v on mic inputs , can I use ECM 55b and 44b with the Phantom on.I know the 44b is battery only . Can I use it with Phantom 48v on.?Thank You

A: The ECM 44B is not able to be used on a phantom power enabled input. This will damage the power supply.

[0.655 lb] You can't beat the quality of this mic for its price. Outstanding! We have another one of these, but the one we just received seems to have a more narrow pick-up pattern despite it still being omnidirectional. Not a huge issue for us, but just know that in advance.

[0.655 lb] I've been needing one of these for the longest time. I'm not sure why I waited so long to get one because now my life productions have the best audio. I use this with my mixer and canned switch between camera scenes without a problem. My old headset would give me so much feedback that I couldn't go live with it and this is a great replacement for that.

[0.655 lb] Great sounding little mic. Tone was good. It was purchased as a request when I was shooting the president of the company that makes this. While I'm not an audio guy, it sounded good to me and we shot interviews in both a large auditorium as well as a small audio booth 10x10'.

[0.655 lb] I was looking at the AKG mic below it as a replacement. I decided to splurge and get this one. The sound is just better than the one we had before. It has better pickup and the sound is crisper on recordings. I would buy it again... I just wish there were more colors available.. like white.

[0.655 lb] Just received this and used it a couple times. It sounds good. Plugging this into two different Tascam recorders and no issues. I'm a little concerned about how thin the cable is but I'm sure it will last since I do take care of my gear.
