Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the length of the straps that attached this to the legs? I'm looking for one to fit very large Losmandy telescope tripod, the leg diameter is almost 10 inches. very thick tripod legs. My Vanguard version velcro straps are way too short. Thanks in advance for any answers.

A: The velcro portion has an effective circumference when wrapped of approximately 21cm / 8.2", which means the leg at most can have a maximum diameter of 6.6cm / 2.63".

Q: 2. Are the ball head of Oben TT-50 and Oben TT-100 the same or different? What is the advantage of these difference if they are?

A: The 2 tripods and heads are basically the same. The main difference is that the head of the TT-100 can be removed and another head can be attached. The TT-50 does not have this feature.

Q: 3. Is anyone using this as makeshift spreader of sorts? I have a tripod whose legs spread just a little too wide as their narrowest position and am wondering if this is stable enough to reign them in a little

A: I wouldn't recommend it as a spreader, it would not be stable enough for that purpose.

Q: 4. Leg base dimensions?

A: About 15 cm.......it was a good purchase, good quality.

Q: 5. Can it be kept on permanently? Will it allow the tripod to fully close?

A: You could leave the Oben Tripod Hammock on the tripod and most tripods will still fully close.

Q: 6. Can I shoot straight down with this tripod? Thanks, Chuck

A: Yes I have used it for this purpose

Q: 7. How long is each leg of the tripod?

A: Each leg is 4 3/8 inches long.

Q: 8. Can this unit handle a Nikon D 90, or 7000 without tripping or falling over?

A: I just own the D500. Yes it can handle the d500 + the heavy Nikon 24-70 provided you set it up properly i.e. one leg in the direction of the lens

Q: 9. When I use a camera D7100 with lens 18-300mm, which weight is about 3lb, Could Oben tripod TT-50 support them?

A: The TT-50 is a small table top tripod. With the ball head in a vertical position it may be OK. If there is any pressure on the ball head, it could creep. A better choice may be the Oben TT-100 which has a removable head. See the link below. If the head cannot handle the specific situation, a more robust head can be attached.

Q: 10. Would this work on smaller tripods, such as Gitzo Traveler 0 and 1 series?

A: Yes, you could use this on smaller tripods.

[0.305 lb] Super simple to use. It has 3 velcro sections for latching to tripod. And it supported a 99Wh V-mount battery just fine. It's great to have on set too for holding things like keys or phone or headphones.

[3.2 oz (91 g)] I know this is a tripod stabilizer but I don't use it as so since I don't need a tripod stabilizer. I use this item as a holder for my lenses caps, my glasses, and other small items that I may need during my shooting session.

[0.305 lb] I picked up a new tripod, and usually get some form of hammock to hold ballast, maybe batteries and an intervalometer. This hammock is solid and durable, and doesn't get soaked easily out on the mountains.

[0.305 lb] Soooo handy for storing caps, swapping filters and lens hoods, not to mention a great way to add weight to stabilize the tripod. I leave it in place all the time, it takes up no more room in my tripod bag. Why didn't I get one earlier??
