Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between this one and SESDR7767 which is the same brand but doesn’t have “pro” in the name?

A: The Pro has knurled edges for a better grip and corrosion resistant aluminum alloy.

Q: 2. Does this filter allows to use a 67mm filter on 52mm lenses?

A: This will actually do the opposite- this allows you to use a 52mm filter on a 67mm lens. Instead, you will want the 52-67mm step up ring: http://bhpho.to/1clCmra

Q: 3. Are there any side effects (vignetting, i think is the term used) when using the smaller 77mm filters on the larger 82mm lens?

A: Hi again Steve, just received your reply. I did not consider going to a full frame camera. Throwing that into the mix especially with a 24-70 lens I think pretty much would cause vignetting. Going from an 82mm down to a 77mm equals about one-quarter inch that would equal a one-eighth inch reduction on each side of the filter's rim. I would expect you'll get a lot of vignetting. One consideration is that the Sensei 82-77 step-down ring is not really expensive and if it caused too much vignetting you're not out a lot of money for the ring itself. I buy that brand, as they work very well and at a low cost. I would say to start saving for 82mm filters; I think you'll fine more vignetting than you'll want to deal with, especially going to a full frame camera and that lens.

Q: 4. Will the 39mm end of adapter fit a Leica lens?

A: The Sensei PRO 39-49mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring will fit on any lens that has a 39mm filter thread. 39mm is a common filter thread size for many Leica lenses.

Q: 5. Does the difference in thread sizes cause noticeable vignetting on wider focal lengths?

A: Very possibly, yes, it depends on the focal length of the lens, how wide it is. It always best to get a larger filter if possible. Putting a smaller filter, especially on a wide angle lens, is a recipe towards vignetting.

Q: 6. Can you use a lens hood with this?

A: Yes, you can attach a 72mm lens hood to this step-up ring. Here are two to consider. B+W 72mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood B&H # BWLHR72 and Sensei 72mm Quick Clip Lens Hood B&H # SELNQC72

Q: 7. What is the thread pitch for the 39mm side of the Sensei PRO 39-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring?

A: 0.75mm

Q: 8. How much does this product weight?

A: According to our shipping specifications, the product will weigh .30 lb.

Q: 9. Might be a dumb question but can this be used with a 77mm filter on a 62mm lense? from the description it seems like its meant more for the other way around

A: This ring is to attach a 62mm filter to a 77mm lens thread but for wide lenses, that's a no-no, vignetting will occur.

Q: 10. Any vignetting? I would be using 37mm macro filters on 46mm lenses. Thanks!

A: Regarding the Sensei PRO 46-37mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring, yes, using 37mm on a lens with a 46mm diameter may cause vignetting.

[0.115 lb] I used this for a comet photo project attaching a special masked hood for blocking a close sun, it gave the extra needed space that was needed

[Side] Typical Sensei high quality with both male and female snug but easy to thread mounting.  The plating is first rate ensuring reasonable release if you dont over tighten so be careful.  Im using the 77-67 on a Fuji GF 110 mm lens to add close up lenses along with the Fuji extension tube. Works well for extreme close focus.

[0.115 lb] Really well machined. I like the knurling which makes the ring easy to insert and remove. Worth the extra dollar or two.

[0.115 lb] I am thrilled to have a way to use my high dollar circular polarized filter on more than one size lens. Some vignetting occurs when zoomed but so far it has not caused a problem as I usually have room to crop.
