Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between this one and SESDR7767 which is the same brand but doesn’t have “pro” in the name?

A: The Pro has knurled edges for a better grip and corrosion resistant aluminum alloy.

Q: 2. What is the thread pitch for both size?

A: The thread pitch is 0.75mm.

Q: 3. Hi, could you tell me the difference between Sensei and Sensei Pro step-up rings? Why the difference of prices?

A: The pro ring has knurled edges and a hardened matte black surface for minimal glare and reflection.

Q: 4. will this work putting a 72mm fisheye onto a 58mm filter size for the canon gl2?

A: This is not the right ring for that job; this is the one you need: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/809629-REG/Sensei_sur5872_58_72mm_Step_Up_Ring.html

Q: 5. What is the height protrusion of the ring above the lens?

A: Sensei PRO 72-67mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring is 3.5mm tall above the threads.

Q: 6. Does this help with vignetting when using a smaller filter?

A: No

Q: 7. Are there any side effects (vignetting, i think is the term used) when using the smaller 77mm filters on the larger 82mm lens?

A: Hi again Steve, just received your reply. I did not consider going to a full frame camera. Throwing that into the mix especially with a 24-70 lens I think pretty much would cause vignetting. Going from an 82mm down to a 77mm equals about one-quarter inch that would equal a one-eighth inch reduction on each side of the filter's rim. I would expect you'll get a lot of vignetting. One consideration is that the Sensei 82-77 step-down ring is not really expensive and if it caused too much vignetting you're not out a lot of money for the ring itself. I buy that brand, as they work very well and at a low cost. I would say to start saving for 82mm filters; I think you'll fine more vignetting than you'll want to deal with, especially going to a full frame camera and that lens.

Q: 8. Where is this made?

A: This item is manufactured in China.

Q: 9. Does this filter allows to use a 67mm filter on 52mm lenses?

A: This will actually do the opposite- this allows you to use a 52mm filter on a 67mm lens. Instead, you will want the 52-67mm step up ring: http://bhpho.to/1clCmra

Q: 10. Any vignetting? I would be using 37mm macro filters on 46mm lenses. Thanks!

A: Regarding the Sensei PRO 46-37mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring, yes, using 37mm on a lens with a 46mm diameter may cause vignetting.

[Aluminum] I bought a new Canon 50mm macro lens. Unfortunately the 77mm diameter could not hold my 58mm ring flash. The step-down ring plus my existing 58mm uv filter and Canon adapter ring was the perfect solution. Thanks!

[Side] I was worried about the aluminum being lower quality, but it feels very sturdy. I bought it to couple an anamorphic adapter to a series of taking lenses. No trouble mounting and unmounting. I am confident it will last me a long time.
