Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come in something to store it in?

A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 58-67mm aluminum step-up ring comes in a clear protective case.

Q: 2. Will this fit a Fuji X30?

A: No, the Sensei PRO 40.5-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring will not fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 camera because the front thread of the non interchangeable X30 lens is an unusual 40mm, not 40.5mm. The FUJIFILM X20 Lens Hood and Filter Set for X10, X20, or X30 Camera: https://bhpho.to/2WTA0sh features a step up ring 40mm to 52mm. It is the only step up ring that will fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 lens.

Q: 3. What is the thread pitch for both size?

A: The thread pitch is 0.75mm.

Q: 4. What is the height protrusion of the ring above the lens?

A: Sensei PRO 72-67mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring is 3.5mm tall above the threads.

Q: 5. What is the difference between this one and SESDR7767 which is the same brand but doesn’t have “pro” in the name?

A: The Pro has knurled edges for a better grip and corrosion resistant aluminum alloy.

Q: 6. Could this cause vignetting on a 15mm wide angle lens?

A: While it would depend on the lens and filter you are using to say for sure, since this is a step-up ring and even wider, it is unlikely that it would cause any vignetting.

Q: 7. Is the description backwards? This looks like it allows one to use a 72mm filter on a 67mm lens. Why would you use a filter that is smaller than the lens?

A: The description is correct; a step-down ring allows you to use smaller filters on larger-diameter lenses. There are a few reasons as to why, for example, to save on the cost of buying filters again if you already own a lot of them in the smaller size. Also, if the lenses have a very narrow field-of-view, the visible vignette might not be significant and not influence the photo that much.

Q: 8. What is the thread pitch for the 39mm side of the Sensei PRO 39-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring?

A: 0.75mm

Q: 9. Where is this made?

A: This item is manufactured in China.

Q: 10. What is the thread pitch on this step-up ring?

A: Unfortunately we do not have the measurement of the pitch to provide you with. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated it is within the common pitch of your major brand filters we carry (Hoya, Tiffen, B+W etc).

[0.1 lb] Its a B+W shall I say anymore? It does exactly what I expected it to do and is copper clad so it'll not warp in cold weather.

[52 mm to 67 mm] I use it on my nifty fifty and my ef-s 24mm. I put a 67mm ND fader on it. You can really touch the quality. It's not a cheap metal ring. It has texture. So, it is easier to put screw in and out. Note that the smallish focus ring of the 50mm 1.8 II is hard to handle with the ring on. Autofocus will be your only solution for certain situations. That problem will not occur for other lenses (or the newest 50mm 1.8) where the focus ring is not on the very end of the lens.

[4.1 mm] I've got a couple of small prime lenses that are great for shooting video. So, with a couple of inexpensive step-up rings, I can use my 67mm polarizer and variable neutral density filters to shoot wide open in sunshine.

[4.1 mm] Threads onto the larger filter and lens very nicely, while releasing fairly smoothly so far.

[Side] I really like not having to buy additional polarizing and ND filters. Works seamlessly.

[0.1 lb] This is just a great step-up ring. It is very thin and well constructed, so you won't see any vignetting. Totally recommended.

[0.1 lb] This is a well-machined ring. The quality is obvious. The grooved surface certainly helps with the removal of the ring. I was a little bit apprehensive by the price, but, upon attaching it to my lens and filter, I concluded it is the best choice. I currently use it with my Nikon 180mmm AFD, a Nikon 77mm polarizing filter (1 Gen.) and the Nikon HN29 hood. The entire set up plus rear lens cap and a Tamron 86mm snap-on lens cap (for the HN29) fits perfectly into a LowePro LC2 lens case.
