Q: 1. If I flip this around can I use it as a step-down ring? I know I'll have to deal with vignetting (well, maybe not technically vignetting, but overlap into the image area), but will it work until I can get the correct size filters? Or are the threads threaded in such a way that it can only screw on to the lens on one side and the filter on the other and cannot be flipped?

A: No, this can only be used as a step up ring.

Q: 2. Will the Sensei step up rings work for freewell magnetic filters?

A: Since the ring is aluminum, it is not magnetic. The Freewell Empty Magnetic Base Ring (82mm) would still be needed in order to attach their other magnetic filters. https://bhpho.to/3hEadRN

Q: 3. Am planning to do these 1. step up from 37-52mm and then 2. step up from 52-67mm 3. Mount a 67mm CPL filter Will I be introducing vignetting in this setup? Appreciate all comments. Thanks in advance.

A: Depends on the lens you're using. But its likely you wouldn't get any vignetting from the filter due to the filter being so much bigger than the lens diameter. A random suggestion I think would help to simplify the process, consider looking into this step up ring. It's from 37-67mm all in one. So you wouldn't need to stack step-ups. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1355342-REG/benro_dr6737_67_37mm_step_down_ring.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 4. Can you stack these? I have a 58-77 but I want to convert it to an 82mm. Can I buy a 77mm to 82mm and stack it with the 58mm to 77mm?

A: You can do that, but vignetting is possible on a wide-angle lens--this 58-82mm adapter ring is a better idea: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1443406-REG/sensei_surpa_5882_pro_58_82mm_step_up_ring.html

Q: 5. Hi, could you tell me the difference between Sensei and Sensei Pro step-up rings? Why the difference of prices?

A: The pro ring has knurled edges and a hardened matte black surface for minimal glare and reflection.

Q: 6. Hi. I just wanted to confirm the following: I have a 77mm 6 stop ND Filter that I want to use on 72/67/62/58/52/43mm lenses. Am I correct in saying that I am looking for a Step-Up Filter Holder (eg 72-77mm)? I need to confirm as I need buy a few of these. Also will you get vignetting when using these filters? Thanks.

A: Yes, you need to use individual step up filters for all your lenses. I use 5 step up filters for all my lens sizes to fit 77mm ND filter. 72-77mm, 67-77mm , 58-77mm, 49-77mm

Q: 7. Will this fit a Fuji X30?

A: No, the Sensei PRO 40.5-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring will not fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 camera because the front thread of the non interchangeable X30 lens is an unusual 40mm, not 40.5mm. The FUJIFILM X20 Lens Hood and Filter Set for X10, X20, or X30 Camera: https://bhpho.to/2WTA0sh features a step up ring 40mm to 52mm. It is the only step up ring that will fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 lens.

Q: 8. Does this come in a protective plastic case that you can use to store it?

A: I'm sorry, no.

Q: 9. What is the thread pitch for both size?

A: The thread pitch is 0.75mm.

Q: 10. is this for general lenses? i have a canon 50mm (nifty fifty) will this work on it?

A: The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 has a 49mm filter threading. This is adapter allows you to put a 62mm filter on a lens with a 49mm thread. It will work with the Canon 50mm F/1.8, B&H # CA5018EFSTM.

[52 mm to 72 mm] Recently purchased a Nikkor 50 mm 1.4 lens. The filter size is 58 mm. I read a tip that suggested using a step-up ring to allow use of 77 mm filters which is the size of my other glass. This saves on buying multiple size filters (UV, CPL, ND, etc.) The Sensei step up ring works very well with my current 77 mm B&W filters.

[52 mm to 72 mm] Wasn't sure how the quality would be when I initially ordered this step up ring. However, I was pleasantly surprised on it qualty. So far, it also doesn't seem to bind with stacking with other filters.

[0.105 lb] I purchased the 72 mm to 77 mm step up ring to allow me to used a 77mm polarizer on a lens that has 72 mm threads. I was concerned about the threads because of problems I had with a previous step up ring. I purchased the Sensei PRO because it is made of brass instead of aluminum. The step up ring threads into the lens and filter easily. I have had some difficulty removing the filter from the ring but not the lens. I also purchased the Sensei filter wrench which allows easy removal of the filter from the ring
