Core Swx Usb Battery Eliminator For Gopro Hero4

Core Swx Usb Battery Eliminator For Gopro Hero4
  • Product Code: eq22258
  • Availability: In Stock

$114.00 $137.94

The Core SWX USB Battery Eliminator for GoPro HERO4is a power extension cable that lets you power your GoPro HERO4 from a USB power source. It comes with a clear backdoor that attaches to the rear of the camera's Standard Housing and provides rain and splash resistance (but it's not submersible). The backdoor does not prevent visibility of the rear LCD of the HERO4 Silver Edition.

On the camera end, the cable locks into the bus connector on the back of the camera instead of into the camera's USB port, providing for a more reliable connection, highly beneficial in high impact applications. Another benefit of this power solution is that no heat is generated, since what's being used is simply a cable and not a battery, and this reduces the chance of overheating the camera. The cable is 10 ft long.

Although the HERO3 uses the same bus connector, this Battery Eliminator is only compatible with the HERO4.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Just to double check, the battery eliminator will not work if there is a battery in the camera? Ideally I'd like to use this as a battery extender for a pretty specific application, but is that impossible?

A: Yes, remove the internal battery then use this Battery Eliminator.

Q: 2. Will this work with a GoPro Hero 4 Silver?

A: No this will not work on any of GoPro Hero 4 models. The batteries although similar in size are inserted into the GoPro Hero 3 and 4 differently and therefore have the contact leads in different locations. However there is a battery eliminator kit for the GoPro Hero 4 models available here at B&H Photo.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with newer models?

A: The Core SWX GoPro Regulator Cable with D-Tap (6') is only compatible with the GoPro HERO3, 3+, and 4.

Q: 4. What underwater filters will fit the wrist housing? I thought I would use the wrist mount for diving.

A: Any filter designed to work with the STANDARD housing for the GoPro Hero3,3+,4.

Q: 5. Does this work with the GoPro Hero 5?

A: No

Q: 6. will this work with Gopro dual battery charger?

A: The Watson Mini Duo Charger is already a dual charger. You will need a USB wall adapter to complete charging connection.

Q: 7. Are you suppose to remove that tab at the top before using for the first time?

A: No it's there to help you pull the battery out of the camera.

Q: 8. will this fit hero4 black?

A: Yes it will work perfectly with the Hero 4 Black batteries. I have 2 and they work great.

Q: 9. Is the DC to DC step-down converter in the dummy battery box capable of handling input voltage higher than the average USB 5v? I'm hoping it's one of those step-downs that can handle 4.5 to 12 or 19, etc volts in because I want to use this with hard-wired vehicle power instead of a 12v to USB adapter. I'm not interested in adapters - I only want to know if I can feed in higher voltage and it will correctly convert to the 3.7-4V that the GoPro needs.

A: CamDo has a version that will support up to 24V input.

Q: 10. Will this work with the Go Pro Hero 4 Black Edition?

A: I think it will work only on the Hero 3 series.

[1x USB-A] I did a 2 hour time lapse from Tokyo to Nokogiriyama and made an AWESOME vid with my GoPro. Zero problems. Just TAKE THE BATTERY OUT FIRST. It only works with the battery removed.

[0.25 lb] I'm recording my son's travellball games w a gopro hero4 silver. I didn't want to keep switching batteries. I used a USB battery pack, this switchtronix battery eliminator, and a LynkSpyder mount to fix the gopro to the backstop. This setup worked great! I used the gopro remote wrist strap to hold the battery pack to the LynkSpyder adapter ($10 add-on).. I sat in the stands and discretely recorded games. Product also works great in drizzle, but I wouldn't submerge the gopro..

[10' / 3 m] I used this for an all day time lapse shoot. I powered it from my iPhone cube USB Charger. The GoPro had the partially open back. On the case. Camera Hero3+ was in the sun most of the day. There was no over heating as others had reported. Perfect product works exactly as advertised. To the mfg. please make one for a weather resistance application like light rain.

[0.25 lb] We used our GoPro as a live video source during a two-day corporate event. Once we had the camera up, we just forgot about it and left it on. It stayed up and going for two days without issue. But one thing, I believe there's a backdoor accessory for this. Probably a good idea to buy it. I didn't, because I had a stock open Go-Pro backdoor, but the left side of it covers the slot where the power adapter goes into the camera. I had to saw the left side of the door off - so that the adapter would fit.

[1x USB-A] Pros: Allows for the use of an external power source that enables your GoPro to record video seemingly indefinitely, limited only by your external battery/source and card space. Before using this cord, recording at 4K would overheat the camera after about 40-50 minutes of use with the go pro battery pac or internal battery. Cons: Forces you to buy new housing if you don't have a simple frame style, though can be gotten for a low low price here on B&H.

[1x Proprietary] If you're reading this and you have this cable, FIRST, take out your battery. This is a BATTERY ELIMINATOR. If your battery is plugged in it won't show it being charged. Took me about 5 mins to realize this. I just saved you 5 minutes, you're welcome, earth. I did a time lapse for over 3 hours and not a fraction of heat more than it usually gets when taking a long time lapse. Great product. Just remember to take the battery out first!

[1x Proprietary] I bought these to use for some time-lapse tests for an observatory I'm shooting next month. In the tests I've done, these both worked flawlessly. I'm plugged them into a car USB outlet and it worked, and into both a 1A and 2.1A a/c conversion plug. They worked flawlessly in all cases.
