Offering a 10-stop reduction in exposure, along with infrared attenuating abilities, this 58mm Tiffen XLE AdvantiX IRND Filter 58mm 10-Stopenables the use of longer exposure times with maintained color fidelity. By darkening the entire scene, this 3.0 optical density filter allows you to work with wider apertures or longer shutter speeds without overexposing your image, in order to better control depth of field or convey movement more easily.

The IRND design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors, and works to attenuate both visible and infrared light. Digital image sensors are more sensitive to a greater range of light spectra, and as such are prone to color shifts or casts when photographing darker subjects or scenes that require increased exposure times. This filter's unique design helps to suppress false colors for greater neutrality and faithful color reproduction.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting to precision metal rings.

ND 3.0 filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a 10-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Attenuates infrared light, as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure lengths.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this filter work in a Lee Foundations filter holder?

A: Yes it does

Q: 2. will this fit in to a LEE 100 system?

A: Yes. Lee systems adapts to all 4x4, 4x6 and all 100mm filters

Q: 3. I need an additional adapter glass to use an additional 4x4 ND filter in my v5 filter box. Does this come with the adapter glass? If not, how can I get one?

A: This will work in a Nisi V5 without an adapter.

Q: 4. Can this filter be used for solar eclipse photos?

A: No, the NiSi 77mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) would not provide enough coverage for solar eclipse photography. You need at least 16 stop ND, preferably with UV/IR cut. Nisi has the following option. https://bhpho.to/3vaPO0g

Q: 5. Does this filter fit inside Tilta Mini Matte Box 82mm adapter ring?

A: Yes.

Q: 6. I have a mirrorless camera that I had converted for IR photography; regular ND filter do not have any effects on exposure; I want to shoot IR with long exposure, will this NiSi IRND do the job?

A: No, the NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) would not be compatible for your usage needs. It does the opposite of what you are looking for; it is designed to block IR to the extent that there will not be infrared pollution when taking a long exposure. As an alternative, the filters in the NiSi Swift FS ND Filter Kit (82mm), B&H # NIRFSNDSWK82, are designed to pass all wavelengths of light evenly, so this would also be an alternative for your usage needs. Also, as standard neutral density filters pass along infrared light unless it specifically indicates it has IR reduction, a filter such as the Hoya ProND EX 1000 Filter (82mm, 10-Stop), B&H # HOPNDEX1T82, should also work for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/3ieQ30o https://bhpho.to/3LZm8bn

Q: 7. Do I need holder as well and I used 24-120 and 20mm most if time which one will be fit?

A: You will need a filter holder and step-up or step-down rings depending on your lens filter thread size.

Q: 8. What is the warranty on this product?

A: NiSI filters come with 1 year warranty in the US only. They are distributed through Ikan Corp in Texas.

Q: 9. Can this be used as a drop-in filter (with the threaded drop-in) with Canon 300mm f2.8L IS USM II & 600mm f4L IS USM II lenses?

A: Yes, the Hoya HD MKII IR ND8 Neutral Density Filter (52mm) can be used as a drop-in Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens and the Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM Lens.

Q: 10. What is the difference between this and the Nisi 4x4? (I read one is 2mm and the other is 4mm) what difference does that make?

A: 2mm filters are primarily used in slide-in filter holders, whereas 4mm filters would not fit them and are primarily used in matte boxes.

[0.1 lb] Great filtration. I will be using this quite a bit on the A7s. The only issue is that it leans a little towards the green spectrum. Make sure you adjust your image in the camera accordingly. Other than that, it's a solid buy.

[0.1 lb] Used on water falls displays at a local garden area from 2 minutes to 16 minutes with no change of color or reddish spot in the center of my photo. Very well made

[Aluminum] Feels great taking on and off the lens. Looks great without any weird IR issues. Really happy with this.

[0.1 lb] I bought this for an upcoming China shoot and paired it with my Sony A7s. I had to return this for the Tiffen 1.2 IRND. I wasn't unhappy with the 2.1 at all. What it came down to was that: I wanted a little more room to create a larger depth of field. This filter does however bend towards a green shift, so make sure you compensate for that in camera.

[58 mm] I purchased this filter recently and used it yesterday for the first time. I have many filters and primarily use B+W filters for long exposure landscape photography and I shoot in RAW. I use a 24mm prime lens and 52mm screw on filters. I love the build quality of B+W filters, but it my experience they tend to have a brownish / sepia cast. This is, of course, easily fixed in post processing. Back to Tiffen's product. This filter is slightly more expensive compared to B+W's ND filters. The build quality is slightly lower than B+W's, but it is not cheap feeling or flimsy by any means. The RAW images had no color cast and needed no color correction. I was able to capture a two-minute exposure during a sunset and I was extremely happy with the result. When researching this product, I was unable to find many reviews. The few that I found stated that it is possible to auto focus with the filter in place and I was eager to test this. I frequently do a clumsy dance of focusing, turning auto focus off and screwing on the filter while hoping not to mistakenly adjust the focus. I discovered that you can use auto focus with the filter, to an extent. You must be in very bright light, but it is possible. For the TL; DR summary: expensive, no color cast and you can auto focus in bright light! Great filter!

[58 mm] After searching through multiple listings of CPL's, I reached out to B&H and they suggested this one. Well, I'm so glad I asked because it's perfect. It's exactly what I wanted!

[Glass] I bought this ND filter so that I can shoot video at a proper shutter speed and still use a low f-stop in broad daylight. It works great, allowing me to keep distracting backgrounds nicely blurred. When shooting towards the sun this filter in combination with my Nikon series E 50mm F1.8 does lose some contrast if I don't use a hood or a matte box. Nothing that can't easily be corrected by some slight curves adjustment in post. The color I get through this filter is very good, even though it's an ND2.1 everything comes out very natural with no noticeable color cast to the image.
