The ClassicBall 5 II Ball Head from Novoflex is a dual-purpose support which acts both as a standard ball head, and also as a leveling base for panoramic photography. To utilize the head as a panning base the head must be mounted to a tripod or similar support in the upside down position. This configuration enables the mounting base to be leveled using the ball, ensuring properly aligned panoramic images, confirmed by the built-in bubble level. The ClassicBall 5 II can support up to 26 lb, stands 4.6" high, and weighs just 2.1 lb.

A matte titanium finish and an all-metal design blend both form and function, and three 90° notches add to the versatility of the ball head, allowing the camera to tilt 180° in three separate positions. Advanced Friction Control allows you to adjust the amount of tension on the ball by turning a center ring on the ball head. The grease-and-lubricant-free design prevents the ball and enclosure from attracting unwanted dust, dirt, and debris.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can this be used with Gitzo Mono pod ?

A: The head has both and 3/8 female threads so it will work on most monopods and tripods.

Q: 2. I heard that it's hard to detach camera from it. Is it true?

A: Untrue. I have a D750 and its a piece of cake to put it on and take it off. The trick is to leave your camera offset from the final position you want to set it too. Tighten down the knob until you can't turn it anymore, then physically twist the camera the last 45 to the final position. This makes it extra tight. To remove, just reverse the order. Very very simple. This is an awesome ball head. Don't give it a second thought, you will not be disappointed.

Q: 3. How do I mount it on the camera's hot shoe?

A: In order to mount the Novoflex NEIGER 19P Ball Head on a cameras hot shoe, you would need a shoe mount adapter. You can find a list of the options B&H carries on the following link.a href= http://bhpho.to/1FjRP5q target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1FjRP5q/a

Q: 4. Does this kit indeed come with the K-10 II ball head? I'm seeing it packaged with the E-10 ball head elsewhere online

A: The Sirui T-1005 Aluminum Travel Tripod with K-10 II Ball Head includes the Sirui K-10II Ball Head, BH #SIK10II.

Q: 5. Will this work with all novoflex bellows systems?

A: Yes. The “Arca-type” bottom on all NOVOFLEX Macro Bellows fit any Q receptor in the NOVOFLEX line. As such, the NOVOFLEX Castel-XQ II Macro Focusing Rack would be compatible for use with all NOVOFLEX bellows systems.

Q: 6. Does this unit have a release to quickly position the rail anywhere and then make macro adjustments? does the rail move using the two blue knobs on the bottom plate?

A: The bottom stage is geared directly and has no clutch to disengage the drive. The top stage locks and slides, but has no geared movement.

Q: 7. I asked on a RE page on FB if anyone had experience using the MagicBall. I was told that a gear head would be what is needed for RE photography. Does anyone use it for RE work?

A: It all depends on how precise you wish to be with your RE photography. If just a then/now, you can shoot with this marvelous head in roughly the same spot of the original photography. Being honest, you could just handhold the camera for causal RE photography. On the other hand, If you are contracted to analyse soil erosion, then a more precise head will likely be necessary. Here is a selection of gear heads that B&H sells. https://bhpho.to/2WuDB3i

Q: 8. What is the base diameter? How does this differ from the novo flex neiger 19?

A: The heads are the same in height, diameter and support weight. They are both 2.2 inches tall and the diameter is about 1.8 inches. The Novoflex Neiger has a cold shoe attachment and the other is as a platform.

Q: 9. Does this have a bubble level built in?

A: Unfortunately, the Novoflex MBAL-PRO75 would lack a bubble level.

Q: 10. Where can I buy extra backup flash shoes if they break?

A: The ones B&H carry that can work are, https://bhpho.to/34Ei9eD https://bhpho.to/3icO4uz https://bhpho.to/2SS6ZQR

[2.47 lb] Very cool and seems rock solid. Already like the unusual functionality. No included QR is the only bummer.

[Yes] This is one solid, well-constructed piece of equipment and if you have a setup that needs to be held rock-steady in place, it will meet all your needs. The construction and finish are top-notch. The friction control ring, which allows you to adjust the amount of tension on the ball, works smoothly and flawlessly, as do the other adjustments. The three vertical notches for the ball neck are a nice addition, as well. I fI had to complain about something, it would be the lack of a quick-release plate option for the head.

[2.47 lb] Unlike most ball heads, this guy stays exactly where you put him. Easy to adjust and doesn't move bit. Well worth the price.

[Ball Head] Novoflex makes great products, very well machined, beautiful, novel. The idea of this full size MagicBall is great and in use couldn't be better. Whatever I put on this ballhead it is rock solid. When pressing the shutter on a tripod mounted camera there is slight shake introduced, the solid nature of this head reduces shake to a minimum and subsides within a 1/2 second, plenty of time is left with a 2 second self-timer to get optimum results.

[Yes] I have a couple of great ball heads, but wanted something that was sturdy and easy to quickly adjust, especially when I'm out in negative F temps.

Am very pleased with the high quality and workmanship.
