[0.55 lb] The sandbag is a simple product with a simple function. What I think sets this one apart is that it's very well constructed as all PortaBrace products I've used over the past 20 years have been. I like that the ballast contents are essentially double-bagged to help prevent spilling. Sure, it costs more but it's also a proven quality brand that's made in Vermont, USA. That's gotta count for something for US customers.

[Nylon] I filled (self-provided) zip-lock bags with shot, and then sealed 'em in the Impact Saddle bags. No fear of shot escaping (and the zip-locks should prevent rust in cast the bag gets wet). You can load these with more than 5 lbs of shot (mine are about 6.5 lb each... I have no fear of the zippers failing. Excellent product

[0.55 lb] We purchased two of these SAN-2 sandbags based upon Portabrace's outstanding build quality and durability. Each sandbag has two zippered pouches, which contain two interior bags to hold the sand. These bags have a triple fold top, with the final fold secured by a full bag width velcro closure which is at least 1 inch tall. We had several 35 pound dried sand in a tube packs which are used for additional traction in cars and pickup trucks in winter conditions, so we decided to sacrifice one. Each interior bag comfortably held 8.5 pounds of sand, and fit snugly (but easily) into the zippered compartment. Stray sand was brushed off of the walls of the interior bag, below the velcro closure, before sealing and there has been no sand leakage. Total weight of each SAN-2 ended up at 17.75 pounds. Even though the bags are rated for up to 15 pounds, the bags easily handled the additional weight. The top of each bag has a wide red strap handle with a chrome metal safety latch and ring, allowing you to secure the bag around a light stand or tripod. Underneath is a red flyaway strap handle that runs the entire length of the bag, allowing the SAN-2 to be flipped over and draped over a light stand leg. The Portabrace sandbag is constructed of 1000-denier Cordura fabric with nylon webbing for the strap handles and has double-stitched seams. All Portabrace bags are proudly Made in the USA by skilled craftsmen and it shows!
