Q: 2. Does this come with SAS Card? Or Should I buy SAS Card separately? Which SAS Card is compatible for LTO-8 Drive?

A: SAS card not included. Which SAS card would depend on the computer or server you would be using it with.

Q: 3. Is there an external case that this drive can be mounted in and then be hooked to a PC or Mac via Thunderbolt?

A: We do not currently carry an appropriate enclosure, but what you would need would be a 5.25" SAS (not SATA) enclosure that supports tape drives.

Q: 4. Is this unit ready for both road and trail travels or just trails?

A: The Garmin Tread XL Overland Navigator (10" Screen), B&H # GATXLOE10AT, would have topography maps, USFS roads, and trails.

Q: 5. Would this work in a Mac Pro 7,1? (current Mac Pro tower)

A: The mLogic Desktop SAS LTO-9 Tape Drive, (B&H # MLSASD9), is only compatible with a Mac Pro 7,1 if you have SAS connections already installed in your system. By default, Mac Pro 7,1 does not, in that case, you should get the mLogic Desktop SAS LTO-9 Tape Drive with SAS Host Bus Adapter, (B&H # MLSASD9HBA), which includes a PCIe card with SAS connections for the drive.

Q: 6. Will this work with Mac OS Ventura 13.4? and what's the outlook moving forward for compatibility?

A: The HighPoint RocketStor 6661A-mSAS3 Thunderbolt 3 to Mini-SAS Hardware Raid Adapter is compatible with any Thunderbolt-equipped Mac or PC system running Windows 8/MacOS 10 or later.

Q: 7. What does TAA compliant mean and is this limited to use in the USA?

A: TAA compliance is a requirement of some purchase contracts. The mLogic Internal LTO-8 SAS Tape Drive (TAA Compliant) BH #MLDRIVELTO8 is not limited to use region.

Q: 8. Does this support the TLR protocol which is required for LTFS format on LTO tape drives?

A: This does not support LTO tapes or TLR protocol.

Q: 9. Can this enclosure use SAS drives? Is the Pcie controller installed at the enclosure or in the computer? If it's inside the computer, the enclosure would just be attached to that particular computer. Am I correct?

A: This enclosure is for SATA drives, but it has a SFF-8088 port for use with SAS drives.

[12 to 24 TB] It arrived a lot faster, initially it was going to take 4-6 weeks. The product is very well built, materials are very good quality. Adding drives was extremely easy. Connection to Mac Pro tower through SAS controller was easy. Everything about the product was absolutely fantastic. I will be filling it with 12tb drives, should make for a very nice storage array. Speeds are very nice as well. 5

[LTO-5] I’ve purchased several of these units. They work great on the very top of racks around the studio for non-rack equipment, such as monitor holders, mic cases, and even small speakers platforms. Plus they’re shipped well with styrofoam protection around the rack ears which helps protect them from shipping damage. Plus they’re always shipped in double boxes, which I really appreciate. As I said, a no worry order. 5

[277.8 MB/s] I was very impressed. Hooked it up and my G-tech raid drives (from an earlier MacPro system) show up immediately. No reformatting, or trouble shooting. I had bought a different brand’s PCI housing hoping it would work and Rocketstor even assisted me to trouble shoot since it was their PCI card. My last resort before dumping 20 terabytes in the trash was this unit. I now have those drives thunderbolt daisy chained to new drives that I was forced to buy when my “cheesgrader” macpro blew a mother board. All working fast and great. Avid Editor since ‘94. Very happy with this device. 5

[2,000,000] I bought this because I am transitioning from spinning disks to 2 1/2 inch SSDs and when this arrived I was impressed by how well it was made, its ease of installation and the fact that for 4 SSDs I only needed 1 power cord thus reducing some of the clutter of cables inside my case by 3. The fan has 3 settings, automatic, low and high and is attached to the rear of the unit and really quiet. Good price for a great little unit. 5

[8] Is working great in my HP Z820, was able to use 4 SSD in RAID 0 and it is blasing fast! Almost 1GB/s. Plastic feel a bit week but since it sit in place, should not cause any issue. 5

[2,000,000] Love the Tread XL. The big screen is mounted on a rail in the center of our dashboard. We use the iOverlander / BLM, National Forest features to find trails and dispersed camping all the time. 5
