    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What softboxes are recommended to use with this?

A: Two particular softboxes you can use with this speed ring if you are using flashes by Quantum, Lumedyne or Norman would be the Impact Luxbanx Medium Rectangular Softbox (24 x 32 ) B&H # IMLBRM or the Impact Luxbanx Small Octagonal Softbox (36 ) B&H # IMLBOS. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 2. Will this work with elinchrom modifiers? Like the 39" deep octa?

    A: Yes, 100%

Q: 3. Will this work with the Profoto 5' Octa?

A: This will work with the Profoto % octabox

Q: 4. Will this ring fit the Profoto B10 ?

A: This ring will work with a B10.

Q: 5. Will this fit my Bowens softboxes?

A: I don't know.... I own Larson Soft boxes... And Paul Bluff. They work too. I modified the by omitting the ring with the Larsons.

Q: 6. does this fit chimera pancake lantern?

    A: Yes, it will fit.

Q: 7. If I unscrew the Profoto adapter part, could I mount it to the Impact 22" Beauty Dish?

A: They are not the same size. You will need the Impact adapter https://bhpho.to/33GCePz

Q: 8. Does the inner part that attaches to the Profoto light come off? If so, what are the outer dimensions (across the hole) between the outer edge of the flanges? Reason I ask, I have many PCB softboxes and its proving difficult to find a Profoto adapter. But looking at this, the inner mount with flanges appears like it would fit on the PCB softbox, if its roughly 136mm width.

A: The adapter is designed to work with a specific unit and its exact measurements are not published. However we do know people have tried it with the PCBuff softboxes and it does not work.

Q: 9. Does anyone know if this Impact Speed Ring will fit Paul Buff soft boxes or the Balcar mount?

A: The outer ring of the Impact SR-PRO Speed Ring will fit any brand standard style softbox that uses rods with tips. The inner portion of this speed ring is made to mount onto Profoto products and will not fit Paul C Buff /Balcar products. To mount a standard softbox on a Paul C Buff product, use the Impact SR-PCB Speed Ring. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/884597-REG/impact_sr_pcb_speed_ring_for_paul.html

Q: 10. We are changing from Bowens to Profoto and i have a lot of Bowens and Godox modifiers, This speedring can be use it with does softboxes with Profoto Lights?

A: In most cases yes this ring will work. Not all boxes however use the standard size. If you find it does not fit do not force it.

[0.95 lb] Works great for mounting a Quantum Q Flash to a soft-box. This allows the soft-box and the speed ring to be supported by the tripod and all the weight is not put on the Q Flash. The Q Flash is then attached to the ring and it does not seem to be a problem for the flash to sustain its own weight.

[Strip] I usually use westcott softboxes, but found a special with impact that included a free grid. For connecting the box to the profotos, this worked perfectly

[0.95 lb] More cost effective than the profoto ring but still a quality piece of gear with a stable connection.

[0.95 lb] Really isnt a whole lot to say other than it works just as expected. Using this with their 2x3 softbox on an Acute setup.

[Metal] These rings are of very high quality: I recommend that you consider them as an alternative to the Profoto and Chimera rings. It use to be that third party photo products were inferrer to brand names. But I have seen a steady improvement in quality and design from third party vendors in recent years. As a college educated full-time NYC photographer for 40 years I can attest that they perform equally to the more expensive speed rings. They work with chimera, profoto and impact soft boxes. *Also check out the newer Impact Duo soft boxes; Decent products at a very palatable price, I have been replacing my older worn-out high-end boxes with the impact line.

[Strip] I was worried when other reviews said they don't fit but the two I just received both fit both B1's and B2's and hold the strip boxes just fine.

[10] I was looking for something like this for a while. I purchased a Profoto B1 kit from B and H last year to replace my old Calumet strobes I had for a long time. This impact speed ring will make it possible for me to use all my Calumet soft boxes and beauty dish I have collected over the years. Only thing I had to do is drill the holes slightly bigger so the rods fit in the holes. I'm an happy camper now. This will save me a bunch. Now I don't have to buy more new stuff.??. Thank you B&H for always having great stuff.
