Photography and Its Origins, published by Focal Press, reflects on the recently renewed interest on photography's beginnings, and includes speculation and examination of the first photographs recorded, proclamations of photography's death in the digital age, and reconsideration of who and what invented the photographic medium. Edited by Tanya Sheehan and Andres Zervigon, this book re-frames photographic history under critical and historiographical terms, and challenges the commonly accepted notions of how we've come to accept photographic history as we know it. The publication comprises 16 original essays, along with 32 color images, and showcases prominent and emerging voices in the field of photographic studies. Serving as a valuable resource to students and scholars of art history, visual and media studies, and the history of science and technology, the texts in this book cut across disciplines and methodologies in order to shed new light on old questions concerning photography's history.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use it with canon 1.4x and 2x teleconverters ?

A: Yes, you are able to calibrate with FoCal while mounted with teleconverters.

Q: 2. I see this works for lens up to 400mm, but would it work on a Will it work on a Nikon 200-500mm 5.6 zoom? Thanks

A: Hi Bill, FoCal Plus is limited to calibrating lenses up to 400mm focal length, you could calibrate the 200-500mm at the wider end but not at the telephoto end. With focal lengths over 400mm (i.e. 401mm and more) you would need to instead use FoCal Pro Best Regards, Dave

Q: 3. Howdy, B&H'ers! My first question today is whether these would fit into the recessed lugs of a Canon EOS Rebel T5i? (If it does fit, I expect that would be a tight fit.)Second: If they will fit in the T5i, will the not very beveled edge of it's metal lugs cut into the plastic of these connectors? Thanks in advance! (Gratitude in arrears for several great answers on other products!)

A: I use them on my canon 70D and have had no problem with them. They go in tight and the lugs have not damaged them at all. I go strapless 80% of the time and this is the best option I could find for quick strap detachment.

Q: 4. does the program create a report?

A: yes

Q: 5. Does the paper book come with access to his ebook as well?

A: No. Hard copy only.

Q: 6. Is there any possibility you can use a monopod? I don't use or have a tripod.

A: Hi Carol, Thank you for your interest in Reikan FoCal. A tripod is a required part of calibration and testing in order to achieve consistent and accurate results. Using a monopod won't work as it would not keep the camera stable enough for a series of test images to be taken. Best Regards, Dave

Q: 7. What is the weight these can carry before they snap or get deformed?

A: While I can't tell you the weight specifications, I use them on my Canon 7D Mark II with lenses up to around 30 ounces, for a total weight of around 4 pounds. They did not deform at all at that weight, and I suspect they will safely hold significantly more weight.

Q: 8. Does this book cover off-camera flash photography or just on-camera flash?

A: I have this book. From what I can make out (it is so detailed and verbose, almost too much so), most of it refers to understanding on-camera flash and manual modes, though some of it may be applicable to off-camera flash. There is a very small section for off-camera flash. I personally haven't used this book much after I bought it.

Q: 9. Can I buy a replacement thermostat for the 210 press?

A: Here is the replacement thermostat for the 210M: https://bhpho.to/3wVPqNR

Q: 10. What is the max size of the print it can hold. More precisely, can it hold 11x14 prints or is that the cover dimensions?

A: The Itoya ProFolio Professional Art and Photography Presentation Book (11 x 14") can hold 11 x 14 size prints.
