Q: 4. Thanks. But I still don't know the difference between "apparent'" and "actual" angle of view for comparison to Snypex 10x32. ?

A: The apparent angle of view is what it looks like through your binoculars: as if you were (in the case of the Opticron 10x32 Discovery WA ED Binoculars) 10 times (10x) closer to the object. The field of view measures the same thing in concrete terms, as 318' @ 1000 yd--the width of the view at 1000 yards distance.

Q: 5. are these FULLY MULTICOATED lenses?

Q: 6. Pls advise where is this bin made in. Tq.

A: The Opticron 10x32 Explorer WA ED-R Binoculars is made in China.

Q: 7. What is "apparent angle of view"? The number is radically different for the "actual angle of view" for other products.

A: The correct "apparent angle of view" for the Opticron 10x32 Discovery WA ED Binoculars is 6.1 degrees, not the 61 degrees printed in the Specs--that's a mistake. All of the 10x32 binoculars that we have show an apparent angle of view between 5.0 and 7.5 degree.

Q: 8. How stiff or easy is the operation of the focus knob? I know this is a subjective judgment but an answer would be appreciated.

A: Focusing on the Opticron 8x32 Traveller BGA ED Binoculars is slightly stiff, but it quickly loosens to a more moderate resistance.

Q: 9. What is the eye relief?

A: The Opticron Explorer 8x42 WA ED-R Monocular has an eye relief of 17mm.

Q: 10. Is this binocular fog proof and waterproof like the Kowa 6x30 YF ?.

A: The Opticron 6x30 Savanna WP Porro Prism Binoculars are not fog or water proof.

[21 mm] I really appreciate the personal attention I received from the 2 or 3 employees at the B&H Photo store in mid town Manhattan. My shopping experience was relatively small, I needed replacement lens caps for an old pair of binoculars. They spent a good amount of time researching various options and bringing up a couple of items from the basement. One of them fit perfectly and I bought it for the eye portion. They did not have any fits for the other side of the binoculars but he suggested I try the Used section, which I did and again the employees there were very helpful. Great service!!

[5° (Actual)] I only began birding in February 2021 so I'm by no means a binocular pro, but I'm extremely impressed with these.

I've been happily using a set of Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 throughout the year, but wanted something a bit smaller and more compact to bring with me on non birding-only outings. Within half an hour of use this past weekend, I fell in love with these 8x32 Opticron Explorer WA ED-R and will probably wind up taking them on most outings, birding-only or not.

The wide field of view makes trying to spot warblers in substantial Northern Ontario thickets far easier than with the Nikons, and the optical quality was near perfect on a bright September morning. They also feel sturdy and comfortable in my hands, and are really just a joy to use.

I like the quick release on the (very comfortable) strap - it makes it easier to slide into a coat pocket depending on your outing - but though the case seems very well made, I don't think it's a perfect fit for the binoculars. It's truly my only complaint, though.

I was on the fence between these and the 8x32 Travellers, but after one use feel justified in my selection of the Explorers. I'm sure a more experienced birder would notice some differences and (depending on one's income) be able to justify the extra $150 USD - as mentioned in reviews on BirdForum - but for my purposes I couldn't be happier with these Explorers.

I'll definitely be returning to Opticron and B&H for future binocular needs.

[21 mm] This was a gift for my son who was going on a week long Canoe trip through the Okefenokee Swamp. He said it is perfect for fitting in his pack. I chose this model because I read that most marine monocular and binoculars are lower powers because at higher powers it is hard to find the subject being observed when rocking in a boat. I also choose the larger lens for viewing in lower light because that may be the case in the swamp. My son wears glasses and said he appreciates the ability to use the monocular without removing his glasses. His trip is scheduled soon so we don't know how the monocular will perform but he is very happy to have it.

[5° (Actual)] These binoculars are light with bright images and amazing clarity. Incredibly light. At 120 yards I can see the inside of sunflowers clearly. Bought these for travel and will be perfect for auditorium events, bird watching and great scenery and wildlife while traveling when that time comes again.

[10x] I own three monoculars: a Vertex 10x25, a Leica 8x20, and this Opticron 10x42. The Vertex is the most rugged and good for a rocky hike; the Leica and Opticron are significantly clearer and sharper, though. The Opticron is the easiest to use because of its wider field of view, but is bigger and heavier (though still much more portable than an optically equivalent pair of binoculars--I always prefer monoculars for that reason). The clarity and magnification make it ideal for looking at more distant objects, such as waterfowl far from shore.
