Create and perform electronic music with the white Arturia BeatStep Pro , an analog and MIDI controller / sequencer for software instruments, analog and digital hardware synthesizers, drum machines, drum kits, and iPad applications. The unit features 16 projects, each with two melodic sequencers offering up to 64 steps per sequence, and 16 sequences per project. Additionally, the drum sequencer allows for 16 separate tracks of sequencing and allows for real-time recording via pads or step buttons for a classic drum machine workflow.

Use controller mode to control drum software on an iPad (with camera connector kit) or a computer such as BFD, Kontakt, Ableton Live's Drum Rack, EZ Drummer, Addictive Drums, Reason Kong, or Geist. The controller can also be used to trigger clips or tracks in production and DJ software such as Ableton Live, Traktor, and Serato. The rotary encoders can be MIDI mapped to control filters, EQs, delays, and other effects.

When placed into sequencer mode, each of the melodic sequences offer note, velocity, and gate time settings with the ability to tie notes. Record note pitch, length, and velocity in real-time with the pads or an external keyboard and the sequence will playback quantized at the step resolution. The unit includes scale modes to quantize the pitch of the encoders to specific pitches within a given scale. Not only does the drum sequencer record 16 MIDI tracks, but will also sends 8 gate outputs for triggering drum modules in the analog domain.

The BeatStep Pro offers multiple synchronization sources, including internal clock, USB, external MIDI clock, or analog/DIN sync. The USB port allows for standard class-compliant bus-powered operation. Use a USB power adapter to use the BeatStep Pro in standalone mode. The BeatStep Pro ships with a micro-USB cable and three 3.5mm to 5-pin DIN adapters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it include the wooden feet as shown in the pics? Thanks in advance

A: No, the wooden legs are not included. This is a brand new item which has not yet been shipped to dealers. At this time Arturia only lists that availability and pricing are to be determined for the wooden legs. More information should be available after the keyboard is in stock so please do check back with us.

Q: 2. What are the dimensions of this midi controller

A: The M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini 32-Mini-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller measures 15.8 x 7.5 x 2.6" (40.1 x 19.1 x 6.6 cm).

Q: 3. Hi there anyone tried to use Arturia Beatstep Controller & Sequencer, in roland V-1HD video switcher? I need to control the audio and add some custom keys to effects. Thanks

A: The Arturia Beatstep is a universal MIDI controller that allows users to control software programs. You may use it to control audio functions within a program and parameters within the given program, but not the Roland V-1HD.

Q: 4. will it work through usb c adapter to a macbook pro?

A: Yes, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller will work when used with a USB-C adapter to connect to a MacBook Pro Laptop Computer.

Q: 5. Is the shelf/extension for a laptop an included standard accessory? How large of a laptop can it accomodate?

A: The Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII Hammer-Action MIDI Controller and Software (White) does include a laptop plate, the dimensions of which are 16" x 10.3".

Q: 6. Can I use 2 different pairs of speakers, either interchangeably (A/B comparison) as well as all 4 speakers at the same time?

A: The Arturia MiniFuse 4 Portable 4x4 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface does have four analog outputs, which could conceivably be routed to four different speakers, but it does not have any switching controls. For A/B comparison between multiple speakers, you would really want to use a monitor controller.

Q: 7. Can I integrate this in home studio based on a Mac Mini m2(2023 NOT Pro), which I intend to use with Apollo solo thunderbolt?

A: Yes, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 25-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller is compatible with the operating system on a Mac Mini M2 model.

Q: 8. Does this have waterfall keys?

A: No, the keys on the Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII Hammer-Action MIDI Controller have a very small lip at the end. They are not waterfall style keys with a totally flat edge.

Q: 9. does this interface work with the rode nt1 without a separate preamp? can i use this interface with beyerdynamic DT 990 pro 250 ohm version?

A: Yes, the Arturia MiniFuse 2 Portable 2x2 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface can be used with the Rode NT1 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone. The interface has built-in mic preamps and the ability to supply phantom power to the microphone. The 250 ohm Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones do work with the MiniFuse 2 at an acceptable volume level, but if you find that you need more power for higher output levels and more headroom, then you will want to use a separate headphone amp.

[4.5 lb] Not much of.a learning curve, everything's pretty much obvious with a few oh, that's nice extra features layered on top. Good labelling and layout of all the features.

[White] The BSP is the heart of my synth instrument setup. Love it!

[4.5 lb] Keyboard is shrunken but playable synth-action with velocity and after-touch to work out your music. The 64-step, 8-note sequencer lets you do some complicated things already, not just dance beats. It’s sturdy built and stays put nicely. Knobs and pads are firm to touch.

Actually got the BeatStep first but realized that’s more for DJ’s. Thought I’d miss the knobs but I play with one hand and the other using the mouse works fine to tweak the sound. The sequencer here also excels, worth it alone. Merchandise exchange with B&H no problem, thanks.

Quality product, check it out if it works for you.

[4.5 lb] I use it as a MIDI keyboard, a sequencer, an arpeggiator, and then do all of that with the CV too. It's great.

[4.5 lb] Don't have a lot to compare it to, but sequencer and key action seem about as good as I could ask for as a newb electronic music creator.

[White] It is a fine little MIDI keyboard. I do wish the black keys were a little wider, but I think they are as skinny as they are so that wider fingers than mine can fit between.

[White] I bought a Keystep to go with a Behringer Model D and Neutron I bought. When I was looking and listening to demos of the two synths above I noticed a lot of people using the Keystep. So I researched it and decided to give it a try. Glad I did. It's hard to beat for the price and features.

Keyboard feels pretty good for what it is. Very slightly spongy until you get used to it. It's not going to feel like a synth action keybed in larger keyboards or even an Alesis Micron but not far from the Micron's keyboard. Feels like my Yamaha CS01's keys. It's very playable.

The sequencer section and arpeggiator section are perfect for what they are meant for and do. Great for driving monophonic synth modules and it will do poly synths too. See specs for more info.

Build quality feels first rate. Metal bottom and plastic top. Knobs are silky smooth, selector knobs are smooth and quiet and illuminated rubber buttons feel good for what they are.

Bottom line is I would highly recommend the Keystep for what it's meant to do. Drive a synth and then some!
