Q: 1. Is this new paper the replacement of the now discontinued smooth super high gloss ? Does it have same characteristics or is it entirely new ?

A: Glossy inkjet is a type of paper that shines by nature. When light falls on such paper it is either reflected parallelly or at an angle. With metallic paper a sheet of mylar is kept between the printing paper and the emulsion. So there's no real comparison. Metallic is far superior for a 3D look. That being said Gloss doesn't change the image effect as does metallic and the colors can be a bit more accurate.

Q: 2. In anticipation of receiving this paper (I just ordered it), I went to Ilford's website to download the icc profile for my Canon ipf6400 printer (the description says "The paper is compatible with both dye and pigment based ink systems..." When I select the paper on Ilford's website and put in my printer and this paper combination there's no profile associated for this printer / paper combo. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

A: They may not have made a profile for the Canon IPF6400 printer. So in that case I would suggest using the closest Canon option. Canon Premium Fine Art Smooth.

Q: 3. Can spray protectant be used on the surface after the ink drys? I love this paper but the surface is very delicate.

Q: 4. Which icc file to print this paper? It is not in Ilford web.

A: What printer do you use? I just checked, and it is available on Ilford's website here ( https://ilford.com/printer-profiles-paper-settings) for a variety of the printers specified. For example, the previous answer's P800, Choose "Galerie", "Epson", "Surecolor P800", scroll down, Smooth Pearl (IGPSPP12_EPSC800_EPGn.icc). A: Hello John,I just received this from B&H, What profile should I use for this paper with HP Vivera pigment ink? I cannot help you because I am using an Epson Printer with Epson Inks.

Q: 6. does this paper need archival spray?

A: This paper isn't really archival & the spray wouldn't really help. I wouldn't use the spray, because if you know this paper it might take away the beauty, so I would leave it as is.

Q: 7. I am having a problem with the images on this paper bleeding. Not all images just the ones near the bottom edge of the page that are on white. It comes out fine but then later, there is bleed around letters - especially type (6 pt). I called HP for support 1 1/2 hours later NOTHING. Is there any gloss, thick paper for T120 that isn't this?

A: It is possible that you received a bad batch of paper where the chemical used to produce the gloss did not bond to the paper well in that area. Typically the higher the GSM the better the chemical bond. We have had this problem in the past, and hence only now purchase 180 or higher GSM paper. The quality of print is better and there is no bleed.

Q: 8. does anyone know which profile to use. there are two on the Ilford site n_GPSPP11_EPSpro7890_9890_PGPP250n and n_GPSPP12_EPSpro7890_9890_PGPP250n?

A: For this specific paper which is 310 gsm, you should use the 2nd one which is n_GPSPP12_EPSpro7890_9890_PGPP250n the first one GPSPP11 profile is for the same paper if it's 290 gsm. Ilford has in the past changed weights of papers therefore they have multiple profiles.

Q: 9. Will this paper work with the epson pro 4800?

A: The 4800 can only print up to 17 inches wide. Epson makes a 16 inch roll that would be compatible:http://bhpho.to/1vP4B4M

Q: 10. Can I feed this paper into a canon 9000 mark I I a3 printer to produce panoramics

A: The Canon 9000 Mark II does not have a roll paper feature. Maximum size is limited to 14x19 inches.

[Metal] I obtained superior results with this paper. My prints were exceptionally sharp and had brilliant color rendering. The other single review which is negative I have no explanation for. I used this paper with an Epson 3880 printer and the Ilford supplied custom color profile for my printer and paper. The profile was IGPMG_PGPPN.icc. Attached are two small photos of prints on this paper taken with a Sony RX100. Lighting was the LED floodlamps in my kitchen and the camera was set to auto. Only editing was for vertical perspective and cropping. 5
