Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit a zoom f8n pro?

A: Yes, the K-Tek Stingray KSTGSXP Small-X Audio Bag can be used for the Zoom F8n Pro Multitrack Field Recorder and it will provide plenty of room. For the best fit, K-Tek recommends using the K-Tek Stingray MixPro Audio Bag (B&H # KTKSTGMIX) or you can use the K-Tek Stingray Junior X Audio Mixer Recorder Bag (B&H # KTKSTGJRX for an orange interior or B&H # KTKSTGJRXP for a limited-edition purple interior).

Q: 2. Is there an adaptor to connect this cable to my Panasonic AG-DVC30 since I do not have a BNC connector?

A: My apologies I am not finding that the Panasonic AG-DVC30 has a timecode output connector for compatibility with this cable.

Q: 3. Does this product (Porta Brace ATV-633 Audio Tactical Vest for Sound Devices 633) come along with the bag for the 633? I know the title says Tactical Vest but the pictures show the bag and nowhere in the description does it say that the bag is not included or that the bag is sold separately.

A: The bag at the front is included as part of the vest/harness and fits the Sound Devices 633 and Zaxcom MAXX.

Q: 4. Will it work with Sound Devices 302 as well? I Know theres one Breakaway cable intended for FP33 and SD 302, but I would like to know if this one has same capabilities as the mentioned and also has timecode in it.

A: It will work as an audio output tethered to camera via XLR. But the timecode side of things will not be usable as the 302 does not have a timecode function. The return into the 302 should work, but I've never personally tested it.

Q: 5. Is this xlr cable not shielded?

A: The Remote Audio Low-Profile XLR3F to XLR3M Balanced Coiled Jumper Cable is a shielded cable.

Q: 6. Does this cable match the ZAXCOM pin out?

A: The pin-out configuration is not published.

Q: 7. Would this work on Zoom f8n or even Mixpre-6II?

A: The Remote Audio ENG Breakaway Cable with Timecode for The Sound Devices 633 has a 5-pin LEMO connector for timecode to accommodate the 633, but the Zoom F8n uses BNC for timecode input/output and MixPre-6 II both uses 3.5mm for timecode.input/output. Other than that, the XLR and 3.5mm connectors on the Remote Audio cable are compatible with both recorders.

Q: 8. Does this come with Portabrace items sold with bag from their manufacturer site or just the case? Specifically, - 1x CARA-BRNZ Carabiner & Flashlight - 1x HB-15 Shoulder Strap - 1x PS-6a Velcro Cable Wrap, 6"" - 2x RX-STRIP Audio Recorder Strip - 2x DIV-5X11.75CORR Corrugated Dividers ??

A: Thank you for your question. This item comes with just the case by itself with no additional accessories.

Q: 9. Is there another version of this cable that has a true stereo RTN?

A: The RTN L+R pins are summed to a single pin as a limitation of the 8pins available in these NeutriCon connectors. To give the Timecode's ground isolation from the XLR audio (to avoid that pesky TC Bleed), they are out of pins. The cable itself has enough wires to accommodate a true stereo return... it crossed my mind to replace the connectors with XLR-10pin, but those are not as easily "breakaway-able". So either way, it's a trade-off.

Q: 10. Is there an extension cable available for this?

A: There is only a 50' time code cable.

[3-pin XLR male] This is a must have when doing any kind of locked-down interviews - allows you to send timecode, a LR mix as well as monitor the camera return. The cable is very sturdy and well built, and feels like it’ll be able to take some abuse out in the field. Get one!

[TA3 female] This cable is perfect for production work, although the TCG is one direction only (from mixer to camera). The cable seems to be engineered with the working professional in mind, it is pliable yet durable with the only exception being the headphone jack on the camera side which feels a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the cables.

[18" (46 cm)] If you have a 633 this is must have. Plain and simple. Even if using wireless hops, there is always a need for a wire. Having the added Timecode built in with a return is absolutely amazing.

[18" (46 cm)] This works great and provides exactly what you need for run-and-gun shoots or interview setups. I wish it was cheaper, but it does seem high quality.

[0.15 lb] Wildly overpriced for a cable lol, but still cheapest I could find online, and does what it's supposed to.

[3-pin XLR male] I use my 633 for single camera interviews and run-and-gun work. I need a cable that sounds good and can take a beating sometimes. Remote Audio has made a great, robust cable. The connection between the camera end and the rest of the cable is solid and releases easily and the 90 degree BNC out for TC is a nice touch. At 20', the cable is a little short at times, but it is by no means a deal breaker. It might seem pricey at nearly $300, but I will tell you it is worth the investment. It quickly became a vital part of my 633 kit.

[TA5 female] It's clear that this was made for a professional sound mixer. The length is perfect, it has the carabiner on the mixer side for strain relief and the velcro strap on the other side does the same thing for camera and also wraps it up at the end of the day. It's a cable, and it passed audio and timecode just like a decent cable should, so I don't have much to add there. It's worth the price tag.
