Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, I've been shooting film for a while now and have recently decided to try developing photos on my own. I know you can use a red light in a dark room but can this enlarger be used with a red light present? I'm only asking because in the specs it says red safety filter not available and wasn't sure if that's it meant by that.

A: The red filter is something that you add to the enlarger's light path so that you can keep the image up while taking out/positioning paper without exposing it. Turning the light off will have the same effect of the red filter, however it may prove more difficult to position the image and all.

Q: 2. How do I turn it on and off?How do I capture an image? Thanks

A: Explaining how traditional darkroom works is far beyond what this B&H Q&A section can handle. We suggest you read this article to get a basic understanding of what an enlarger like this can do. https://bit.ly/2t6V5SB

Q: 3. Is a power adapter required or do I just plug it into the wall outlet?

A: No power adapter needed, plug and play :).

Q: 4. I noticed in the item description that the lens is ''pre-mounted''. Does this mean that the lens is not removable?

A: you can change ti, you only unscrew the lens

Q: 5. I am noticing the light is stronger in the middle, making my photographs darker and the edges are lighter. Am I missing a diffuser or using it incorrectly?

A: Please review the following enlarger lens. We highly suggest using Rodenstock or Schneider lens to prevent any vignette issues you may be experiencing. https://bhpho.to/3HgRLJG

Q: 6. how is the light source?

A: The manufacturer's believe it is sufficient for the Printmaker 35.

Q: 7. I am being given this enlarger today by some one who doesn't need it, her husband died and it was his. I am interested in the 6x7 upgrade or do you have a 6x6 upgrade...? How do I find it on your site?

A: Both are under the accessory section of the item. However, you can use these links below:https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4666-REG/ target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4666-REG//ahttps://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4669-REG/ target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4669-REG//a

Q: 8. Where can you purchase the light source component for B&W enlargements?

A: The Beseler 45M Condenser Lightsource, BH #BELHC45M, fits the Beseler 45MXT Enlarger.

Q: 9. Can this enlarger be adapted work with 6 x 9 size negatives? And if so, could you point me in the direction of a good 6 x 9 enlarger lens that is comparable with this enlarger?

A: The maximum film size compatible for use with the Beseler 67XLC Condenser Enlarger Value Pack would be 6 x 7 cm medium format negatives. If you are looking for an enlarger that would work with the larger 6 x 9 cm medium format negatives, I would recommend the Beseler 23CIII-XL Condenser Enlarger with Baseboard, B&H # BE23C3XLC, the Kaiser VPM-9005 Multigrade Enlarger (For Up to 6x9), B&H # KAVPM9005, the Kaiser VCP-9005 Dichroic Enlarger (For Up to 6x9), B&H # KAVCP9005, or the Beseler 45MXT Enlarger, B&H # BE45MXT. If you need an enlarging lens, the Schneider 150mm f/5.6 Componon-S Enlarging Lens, B&H # SC15056CS, the Schneider 135mm f/5.6 Componon-S Enlarging Lens, B&H # SC13556CS, the Rodenstock 135mm f/5.6 Rodagon Enlarging Lens, B&H # RO13556R, or the Rodenstock 120mm f/5.6 APO-Rodagon D Enlarging Enlarging Lens, B&H # RO12056RD, would work for your usage needs.

[46 x 17 x 10"] Easy to use once you put it together. Instruction manual is not that helpful. It needs more illustrations. The product is great once it is assembled.

[Condenser] My first enlarger was a 23CII with a ZoneVI Cold Light Head. Best darn tool I ever had; made a zillion images and it never ever gave me any trouble. Still don't care for condenser heads for BW prints, but this is the best machine for the work BAR NONE.

[6 x 7 cm] Big, solid and dependable. Bought it new in 1988, had cold light head, color head for it. Used from 1988-2001. Put it in storage until recently and still works like the day I bought it. Because of the size I gave it away to someone who is just getting into 4x5 film. Very few people are looking for the chassis now, very expensive to ship. Full frame digital has pulled me away from film otherwise I would have found a way to use the enlarger.

[46 x 17 x 10"] I dont have a lot of room to work with and this enlarger was grate for a small fit. Easy to put togeather and its really solid. It fits all the sizes of film that I need and they all have great results with fast exsposure times. Its easy to use and not a lot complecated settings. I love that if I want to switch to color, All thats needed is a few new items and not a whole other enlarger.

[42 lb] We use these enlargers in our beginning and advanced black and white student photo labs. This is a workhorse of an enlarger. We are replacing our old ones (over 30 years old) with new ones because we expect them to last another 30 years or more. The old ones have stood up to constant student use (and abuse) and still function well. We will be using them for spare parts when these new ones start to need maintenance, 10 to 20 years from now. The fact that the design is almost identical and that all previous peripherals (negative carriers, lens boards, etc) work perfectly with the new machines makes the transition (and cost) that much easier to deal with. This is a great machine with virtually no faults.

[46 x 17 x 10"] I was on the fence about getting either a condenser enlarger or this VC enlarger. I am glad I went with this one.
This is my first enlarger, so I don't have anything to compare it too, but I don't feel that there is some glaring image quality issue using a diffusion enlarger.
The VC part was expensive, but worth it. I don't have to fiddle around with VC gels, just turn the dial on the front of the head to a number. The dial is continuous, so you can choose 2.5 or 2.75 if you wish.

I didn't purchase the accessories new--the prices are prohibitive. With that said, the used market has many fine lenses, lens boards, and negative carriers for this enlarger.

[42 lb] Received this enlarger as a birthday gift and I couldn't be more happier. Great price, very easy to assemble, and arrived very quickly. The corners of the baseboard are somewhat sharp, but was easily fixed with a quick sanding. Fit my 8x10 Premier easel perfectly.
