I recently transitioned from Nikon to Sony A7s due to the extraordinary technology Sony offers along with significantly lighter weight. The trade off, and the only one, is that the smaller mirrorless bodies cannot contain big long-lasting batteries like Nikon and Canon DSLRs. The remedy is that Ive purchased a dozen Sony batteries and at any time I need the ability to recharge four at a time. The TC40 is the perfect solution. It's build quality is tops, it is small and packs easily into my locker. There isn't anything about it that I don't like. Yes it is expensive but I'm willing to pay that cost for the assurance that dead batteries will never be an issue for me on-site.

[2.1 mm DC] PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST BY THE OFFICIAL PANASONIC DC COUPLER WITH THIS TO MAKE IT WORK!! They cost around $20.00 This is a great addition to any Panasonic GH2 Kit as it allows you to run your GH2 of Sony NP Batteries which can be found almost anywhere on the internet and are incredibly cheap and can last for hours. I bought this for a concert where I had the Panasonic GH2 up near the roof of the arena and needed to run the camera for a long time. I also bought a Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro card for high data rates for the shoot. Overall the Power Plate worked well and can run the camera for around 2-4 hours on a single NP-F970. I have a cheap chinese rip off battery so the run time is considerably less than the official Sony. This is a far more economical and cost effective solution than power the camera of the official Panasonic batteries. I would only recommend this solution for video work however and not for photography. The battery light blinks green when the battery is getting low. However I would like to have a red light instead to indicate this. But that isn't that much of an issue. The only other issue is mounting the thing. I threw this onto a Manfrotto 504HD head and there was plenty of room for this to sit on top with the GH2 also. If you were going handheld you would need to mount this sucker with some screws or gaffe tape as there is no mounting plate provided or even a 1/4 inch screw mount. So I'm just going to glue a cheap cold shoe mount to the base so it can dock easily wherever I put it. Overall it was a very good purchase and I couldn't of done the shoot without it.

[0.15 lb] I wanted an alternative way to power my Sound Devices 633 recorder, without having to use my huge Cine VCLX battery, or Ac power adapter, to get 12-14 volts.

I use Sony BP-u batteries on my camera, and they are 14 volts, so it seemed like a logical choice.

I bought this Dolgin EX-V, and connected to a Hirose 4 pin to XLR cable, and plugged it into my 633, using a Sony BP-u60 battery.

It works! So now, I have an additional 14V power source!

[3 oz (85 g)] I guess this is a matter of you get what you pay for. It's either $30 chargers off of amazon which are extremely unreliable or $200 chargers like this one. I appreciate that it is made out of metal, other than the receivers for the batteries. Does exactly what it says in the description. Charges 2 bp-750s in 4 hours. With that I can run my Komodo indefinitely on 3 batteries.
