Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the thread pitch?

A: Heliopan does not list the pitch on the Heliopan 42-39mm Step-Down Ring (#316). But standard for that size is 0.75mm thread pitch.

Q: 2. Is this m52 x 0.75 male thread? Also, what is the external diameter of this step down ring? Thanks

A: Yes, the 52mm end is male. I'm sorry but the external diameter is not available, you can contact Heliopan for more specific info; HeliopanDistributed By - H.P. Marketing CorporationTel: 800-735-4373 Website http://www.hpmarketingcorp.com/ Email info@hpmarketingcorp.com

Q: 3. Are the threads female on both sides?

A: No. The 58mm side is male and screws into the lens. The 49mm side is female and receives the filter's male threads.

Q: 4. Does this filter allows to use a 67mm filter on 52mm lenses?

A: This will actually do the opposite- this allows you to use a 52mm filter on a 67mm lens. Instead, you will want the 52-67mm step up ring: http://bhpho.to/1clCmra

Q: 5. I'll be using this on my 85mm Tessar ZM which has 43mm filter thread. All of my filters (CPL and ND) have 39mm filter thread. Will my 85mm Lens vignette by using this item?

A: Anytime you use a step-down ring to use a smaller filter on the front of a lens with a larger filter diameter, you run the risk of obtaining some vignetting. Unfortunately, we have no way to test or guarantee which lens/focal length combinations. While vignetting would normally be more noticeable with wide angle lenses compared to telephoto lenses, I cannot guarantee you will not get vignetting. The best I can state would be to purchase the item and see if it works for your needs, and if it does not, you would have 30 days to return the item for an exchange or refund via our 30-Day Return Policy on this item.

Q: 6. Confirming, front inner threads are 62mm, rear threads are 67mm?

A: Yes, the front threads are 62 mm and rear thread are 67 mm on the Sensei 67-62mm Step-Down Ring. The Sensei 67-62mm Step-Down Ring is a step-down ring permitting the use of 62mm threaded filters on a 67mm threaded lens.

Q: 7. hey i have a Tamron 20-40 2.8 77mm Aspherical lens that has a bubble to it, and i want to step down to a 72mm, could this fit on my tamron which is Aspherical? thanks

A: That is a step down ring. If your lens has a 77mm filter thread it will fit and allow you to use 72mm filters on it. Note that stepping down you will get vignette.

Q: 8. Will these fit on a Canon lens?

A: This General Brand Step-Down Ring Kit would be compatible with Canon lenses, but it depends on the filter size of the lens.

Q: 9. Are there any side effects (vignetting, i think is the term used) when using the smaller 77mm filters on the larger 82mm lens?

A: Hi again Steve, just received your reply. I did not consider going to a full frame camera. Throwing that into the mix especially with a 24-70 lens I think pretty much would cause vignetting. Going from an 82mm down to a 77mm equals about one-quarter inch that would equal a one-eighth inch reduction on each side of the filter's rim. I would expect you'll get a lot of vignetting. One consideration is that the Sensei 82-77 step-down ring is not really expensive and if it caused too much vignetting you're not out a lot of money for the ring itself. I buy that brand, as they work very well and at a low cost. I would say to start saving for 82mm filters; I think you'll fine more vignetting than you'll want to deal with, especially going to a full frame camera and that lens.

Q: 10. Does this come with the 72mm lens Attachment to 82mm filter threads?

A: No, please check out the Sensei 72-82mm Step-Up Ring. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/809647-REG/Sensei_sur7282_72_82mm_Step_Up_Ring.html

[55 mm to 48 mm] It allows you to use the filters for the other e mount lens (49mm) on the full frame (67mm) lens. Their cropped but it works. Especially if it's a specialized filter that you spent a lot of money on.

[Brass] I bought this to be able to adapt the Nikon ES-1 Slide adapter to my lens. The adapter is very well made. Solid. It does not feel cheap and I think it's a good value for the money. Five stars!

[0.02 lb] I recently purchased a Zeiss 1:1.4/50 for my EOS 7D and thought that my Raynox DCR-1850Pro Teleconverter Lens 1.85x which I used with my Dimage camera, might be adapted to this lens. I installed this step-down ring between the two and now enjoy a 100mm+/- lens along with my great Zeiss 50mm. I store the two attached and separate as needed. The high quality of this ring makes this possible; shows little wear after much use. I am thouroughly satisfied with this ring and highly reccomend it. ( Watch for the green light,Luke, a manual focus lens, it is!)

[55 mm to 48 mm] There are less expensive rings, but seem silly to put a low cost ring on a $3000 or higher lens. Threads on and off easily!
