The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 4-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO4 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this specific tripod have a tilting column to offset the camera from the center of the tripod???

A: The center column of this tripod can be set at a 90 degree angle.

Q: 2. I'm going to buy one mor tripod.I have the opportunity to purchase manfrotto 055cxpro3 or manfrotto mt055cxpro3.What are the benefits of the newer tripod (manfrotto mt055cxpro3)?Thanks in advanceGershon

A: Don't know. The plate may be larger on one.

Q: 3. Will this work with fugifilm cameras

A: Yes and no. Yes, this is strong enough for any Fujifilm camera, including the GFX-series of cameras. No, because this is just the SKU for the tripod legs and doesn't work with any camera until completed with a tripod head of some sort. Compatibility with camera systems and the tripod head is a separate topic/question all together.

Q: 4. Spikes or rubber feet?

A: The Manfrotto Retractable Spiked Foot Set (3), BH # MA160SPK3 would be a compatible set for the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4. https://bhpho.to/3INusul

Q: 5. I'm looking for a tripod that will support a Nikon 500mm F4 on a gimbal that won't break the bank. Is this tripod stable enough for that lens?

A: Please take a look at the following 2 links below. The Manfrotto 028B Tripod Let and the Wimberly WH-200 Gimbal Head. This will work for the Nikon 500 with the Nikon DSLR. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554068-REG/Manfrotto_028B_028B_Studio_Pro_Triman.html + https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/404536-REG/Wimberley_WH_200_Gimbal_Type_Tripod_Head.html?sts=pi

Q: 6. Could you please tell me the major differences between MT190CXPRO4 and MT055CXPRO4? Thanks

A: The main difference between the 190 and 055 tripod series is the load capacity. The 055 is the next series up from the 190, and has a larger load capacity. The MT190CXRPO4 has a load capacity of 15.4 lb, while the MT055CXPRO4 has a load capacity of 19.8 lb. The MT055CXPRO4 is also slightly taller (Max height of 66.9 vs. 63).

Q: 7. is it possible to remove the center column but still have a tripod head?Im hoping there is some sort of attachment i can add, in order to do this.

A: It is easy to remove but you need the column to hold your head. The only time the column needs to be moved is if you widen the stance, then I pull the column and replace it perpendicular instead of horizontally. I have nearly 20 years of rough usage of mine. This allows an extremely low macro stance. The versatility of this tripods allows your camera a solid footing in the most difficult terrain.

Q: 8. Can you transform it to monopad?

A: Any tripod can be used as a monopod by simply shortening two of the three legs.

Q: 9. I'm going to buy one mor tripod.I have the opportunity to purchase manfrotto 055cxpro3 or manfrotto mt055cxpro3.What are the benefits of the newer tripod (manfrotto mt055cxpro3)?Thanks in advanceGershon

A: I purchased the MT055CXPRO4 because of the Height that it goes to. I am using it for Hunting with my bigger Bino's on it and sometimes you have to stand up to see over Bushes or through Trees. The Carbon Fiber is a little bit Lighter to pack in and out then the steel Manfroto I used to carry. That is why I bought it. Hope this helps in your decision. Tim

Q: 10. is the center column reversible?

A: The column on the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is not designed to come out. It is designed to be positioned horizontally.

[Flip Lock] Supports slightly heavy video cam. Smooth, light, and works as advertised!

[Carbon Fiber] I recently added the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod to my collection, and it’s already proving to be an excellent choice, especially when traveling. Having used the MT055CXPRO3 extensively, I find that the MT055CXPRO4 maintains all the robust stability and build quality I’ve come to expect from Manfrotto, while adding a few distinct advantages.
The most noticeable improvement is the portability. The MT055CXPRO4’s four-section design allows it to fold down to a shorter length compared to the MT055CXPRO3, making it easier to pack and carry on location. Despite this compact form factor, it doesn’t sacrifice any sturdiness, and the carbon fiber construction keeps it incredibly lightweight without compromising strength.
The MT055CXPRO4 also features the versatile 90-degree center column mechanism that I appreciate in the MT055CXPRO3, allowing for quick horizontal and vertical adjustments. The flip-locks are smooth yet secure, making setup and adjustments quick and hassle-free.
In summary, the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 is an ideal choice for photographers who need the stability of a high-quality tripod but prefer a more travel-friendly option. The improved folded length makes all the difference, and for anyone familiar with the MT055CXPRO3, the MT055CXPRO4 offers that same reliability with enhanced portability. Highly recommended for photographers on the go!

[3/8"-16 Male] Excellent stability and ease of use. I had an older aluminum 055 with the screw type leg locks and the flips locks are a huge time saver. I went with the 4 section since I travel often and this is more compact than the 3 section. The level indicator rotates which comes in handy when setting up for pano shots. I use a 410 gear head combined with this tripod works well for me. Very stable and precise for architecture. This is my forth tripod and hopefully my last for many years. My main reasons for purchasing was the 4 section and flip locks. The carbon fiber was just on impulse but glad I did - nice to save some weight on those hikes. When converting the center column from vertical to horizontal there is a red plastic piece that rises with the column and it seems a bit flimsy and out of place for the rest of the tripod. Besides that every component is very well made in my opinion.

[Carbon Fiber] I upgraded from an inexpensive metal tripod with a simple ball head to this Manfrotto carbon tripod and a top-end Manfrotto ball head. The tripod is much more stable than my Al one with the head extended vertically. A really nice feature is the ability to mount the arm horizontally, which also is very stable. Another feature is the ability to mount either spikes or claws in place of the rubber feet (both available at extra cost from Manfrotto). The only downside is the warning to stay away from salt water as I live near the seacoast.

[Carbon Fiber] I got this tripod recently for a heavier camera and I am very pleased with it. The only downside is that it is heavier than a tripod that I could not take on hikes, it is very solid and provides a lot of stability. Yet, it still folds in small enough space that it can fit into my airplane carry-on bag (diagonally without the head). It also extends high enough that I can take overhead shots easily. Overall a great product!

[Carbon Fiber] Whether I'm shooting real estate photos or traveling a short distance for an outdoor shoot, this tripod is amazing. If you are hiking a long distance, you might want to consider a lighter tripod but in truth its not that bad to carry.

[4] I used to purchase to upgrade my aluminum Mafrotto tripod. The difference in the comparison between my old tripods weight and the new one is very noticeable. The leg height adjustments are very easy to make. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
