The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 4-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO4 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How tall is this tripod with the center column moved all the way down? I prefer not to extend it for stability purposes.

A: The height of the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod with the Center Column all the way down is 55" / 139.7 cm.

Q: 2. After the leg spread angle is set, if I push on a leg towards the center will it move? Are the legs truly locked in place?

A: You can push the legs inward on the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod even with them being 'locked' in place.

Q: 3. is the center column reversible?

A: The column on the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod is not designed to come out. It is designed to be positioned horizontally.

Q: 4. Will the Manfrotto Nitrotech N8 video head work on this tripod?

A: Im currenting using that head on these legs, works great!

Q: 5. Can you transform it to monopad?

A: Any tripod can be used as a monopod by simply shortening two of the three legs.

Q: 6. Will the RRS BH-55 work on this tripod, given that the diameter of the ball-head is larger than the diameter of the tripod plate?

A: Yes, this ballhead will work though it has a larger diameter.

Q: 7. What is the exact width of this tripod? I'm guessing about 5 across but I want to be sure so I select the correct sized bag. I'm looking at the Oben TB-20 padded bag (B&H # OBTB20) as a decent choice.

A: It is a little over 5 . I don't know if this tripod will fit in the Oben bag. I purchased the Manfrotto bag.

Q: 8. I need a good stable, travel tripod for wild life photog. I currently have a Nikon D800e with Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens and Manfrotto/Bogen 3421 gimbal. I am also 5'7 and cannot bend forward for any length of time so tripod needs to be tall enough with very little center column extension. I typically shoot beyond 500mm on my lens. Will this tripod excel for me or is there another model? Thank you.

A: I purchased this tripod at the end of February and have been totally happy with the decision. It is a very stable tripod. I have used it with my Canon 70-200L lens and it has worked very well. I am not familiar with the gimble support you mentioned but I think the tripod would work well for you. When spreading the legs out it takes a little practice to get the hang of it. I have found that you need to back off the legs slightly to get the leg latches to release in order to spread the legs to the next position. If you purchase the four section leg model you should have more than enough height without extending the center column. The tripod is very light and easy to carry in the field. With your big lenses I might suggest that you hang your camera bag from the built in hanger for additional stability although I have not found this to be a problem. The tripod is very stable by itself. As I also own one of Manfrotto's professional studio tripods (which is quite heavy) I have found this to be an exceptional tripod for the field and carrying to various sites. You will not be disappointed with this tripod. Construction is rugged and will hold up well in the field. I hope this helps you.Jim

Q: 9. Greetings! I have a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead, which would pair up very nicely with this tripod, except for one thing: the BH-55 has a 2.9 base diameter, which would appear to cover the bubble level on the Manfrotto's plate. What is the diameter of the circular top plate on the MTO55CXPRO4, and if smaller that 2.9 , is it possible to have a larger-diameter plate? Thanks! Alain

A: The diameter is approximately 2 inches. The plate cannot be switched out for another.

Q: 10. is it possible to remove the center column but still have a tripod head?Im hoping there is some sort of attachment i can add, in order to do this.

A: It is easy to remove but you need the column to hold your head. The only time the column needs to be moved is if you widen the stance, then I pull the column and replace it perpendicular instead of horizontally. I have nearly 20 years of rough usage of mine. This allows an extremely low macro stance. The versatility of this tripods allows your camera a solid footing in the most difficult terrain.

[4] I am very happy with my Manfrotto tripod, extremely stable, excellent ball head with quick release connector plate, bubble levels for the tripod as well as for the camera are critical for good landscape sunset sunrise photos, very well made, the carbon fiber keeps the weight down on this beefy tripod, the horizontal capability of the center post allows me to get the camera into tough position for shooting macro from many points of view, excellent price and value. Very pleased with this purchase.

[Flip Lock] Very well built equipment. The head is a serious thing- there is weight to it, but sturdy. Not something you want to take hiking, but for Real Estate photography, it is perfect. The tripod is awesome, but watch out for those snaps... they will pinch you good. I'm very impressed with the total quality.
