A: Aluminum, without a doubt. I have brass step up rings as well, they are substantially heavier than this ring.Let that not reflect poorly on the craftsmanship however; it is still a superbly machined piece of metal with precise fit and finish.

Q: 2. What is the pitch of the 86-95 step up ring? Does it match the Otus 85mm?

A: Sorry but unable to help. Don't know the Otus and don't know the pitch. All I can say is, that it's a quality ring.

Q: 3. Does this fit onto Leica Elmarit-R lens with series VII filter thread?

A: Apparently there are two versions of this lens. Series VII retaining ring should be 54mm so this step ring should get you to a 55mm filter size.

Q: 4. Can this cause vignetting on a Laowa 7.5mm lens?

A: The Heliopan 46-58mm Step-Up Ring will not cause vignetting if attached to the Laowa 7.5 lens, but the "lens hood" must be removed to allow for the connection of the 46-58 step up ring.

Q: 5. Greetings! Is this the .5 fine thread or the standard .75 thread? I wish to use on a Polaroid 180 and don't want to trash the threads.Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 46-49mm Step-Up Ring uses standard threads, and are excellent quality step-up rings with brass construction.

Q: 6. Will the 54mm end fit a lens with series VII (Series 7) threads? I believe they are 54.3mm (2 1/8 inches).

A: unfortunately this will not.

Q: 7. Can it work with NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring for Standard Filter Threads 105, 95, and 82mm ?

A: This ring will allow for an adapter with a 105mm thread to fit a lens with a 95mm thread.

Q: 9. What is the outside diameter of this ring? Is it 100mm so that I can use a push on lens cap?

A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

Q: 10. When using this adapter, with a 77mm nd filter on a 58mm cap size lens, will it have any downsides? Or is it gonna look perfect just like a 58mm filter?

A: When using the B+W 58-77mm Step-Up Ring, photos should look fine using the 58mm cap size, unless one is using a fisheye wide angle lens.

[46 mm to 72 mm] Perfectly fit for Leica E46 lens to step up to 49mm for Graduated ND filters. In my case, I bought also E39 to 49mm so that I can use the same set of filters. 5

[0.09 lb] This is my first experience using a Heliopan product. All of my lens filters are B+W but they didn't make a step-down ring in the size I needed. I could have purchased a much less expensive ring but the Heliopan was the only one I saw with the same quality of the B+W. It is made of brass and very well constructed. I would recommend it to others. 5

[0.09 lb] I have older version of Leica R 35/2 lens. It takes 48mm filters or I can use step-up rings for 52mm or any larger size filters. Well, the problem is that 48mm filters can be hardly found. If I did find them, they are very expensive. So I purchased 48-52mm step up ring by Heliopan that is what I review now. Heliopan step up rings are fantastic, because they are brass rings, not aluminum ones. They will not bind nor cross thread either. I have all sort of step up rings by B+W, but they are anodized aluminum. I don't trust their rigidity. Also they sometimes are stuck with filter rims, so binding is a real problem with any brand name step-up, -down rings as long as they are made from aluminum. Heliopan 48-52 mm ring is a bit heavy, but I like its solid feel and it gives me a worry free confidence from binding or cross thread. It will last than any filters or myself for that matter! 5

[0.09 lb] Hefty, durable ring. Dense brass. Smooth threads. Optimal release properties. Works best with THIN ring filters. Old style, thick ring filters will have longer male threads, causing the filter end to hit bottom before filter shoulder makes contact with Step-Up ring rim. Regardless, it works. 5
