Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I use this step up ring to attach a 67 mm Cokin P series adapter ring on a 55 mm camera ?

A: Cokin P series has its own 55mm adapter ring. I will recommend using that option instead. The disadvantage of using step up ring with square filter holders is the probability of light leaking through the rings, besides this you can use the step up ring to connect Cokin P 67mm adapter ring.

Q: 2. Does this fit onto Leica Elmarit-R lens with series VII filter thread?

A: Apparently there are two versions of this lens. Series VII retaining ring should be 54mm so this step ring should get you to a 55mm filter size.

Q: 3. Greetings! Is this the .5 fine thread or the standard .75 thread? I wish to use on a Polaroid 180 and don't want to trash the threads. Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 46-49mm Step-Up Ring uses standard threads, and are excellent quality step-up rings with brass construction.

Q: 4. If I use a step up ring 67mm - 77mm , will this cause vignetting?

A: No, stepping up 10mm's will not cause vignetting.

Q: 5. Hi, do you know if this lens will fit a Lomo 16-opf-12-1 Zoom 10-100mm? The thread seems to be around 75mm but I'm not sure.

A: Unfortuantely, we are not sure. It appears the LOMO 16OPF 12-1 Cine zoom lens 10-100/2.5 16mm lens is an older Russian lens that has since been discontinued. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information listing the filter thread size for this lens.

Q: 6. What is the outside diameter of this ring? Is it 100mm so that I can use a push on lens cap?

A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

Q: 7. When using this adapter, with a 77mm nd filter on a 58mm cap size lens, will it have any downsides? Or is it gonna look perfect just like a 58mm filter?

A: When using the B+W 58-77mm Step-Up Ring, photos should look fine using the 58mm cap size, unless one is using a fisheye wide angle lens.

Q: 8. Can this be used with filters that aren't B+W brand? Such as Firecrest?

A: I've used these step up rings with various filter brands ... Hoya, Nikon, etc...

Q: 9. Can this cause vignetting on a Laowa 7.5mm lens?

A: The Heliopan 46-58mm Step-Up Ring will not cause vignetting if attached to the Laowa 7.5 lens, but the "lens hood" must be removed to allow for the connection of the 46-58 step up ring.

Q: 10. The description says it's aluminum, but the reviews say it's brass - which is it?

A: Aluminum, without a doubt. I have brass step up rings as well, they are substantially heavier than this ring.Let that not reflect poorly on the craftsmanship however; it is still a superbly machined piece of metal with precise fit and finish.

[46 mm to 67 mm] Perfectly fit for Leica E46 lens to step up to 49mm for Graduated ND filters. In my case, I bought also E39 to 49mm so that I can use the same set of filters.

[0.085 lb] I have a lot of 52mm Nikon filters, and I use these when I want to use them with my rangefinder lenses. A lot of my rangefinder lenses use a mix of 40.5mm and 46mm filters, so instead of buying all the filters I need in these different sizes, I use one of these. These thread very smoothly. They're also some of the heavier step-up rings because they're brass. I'd rather have the brass though because when I used to use my aluminum rings in this way, they would sometimes get stuck. These never get stuck which is great

[46 mm to 67 mm] It's made from good materials and well machined. I've used low end reducers before and ended up with them 'bonded' to the filters. This one is easy to mount and remove without tools, beating of colorful language. I got it to fit a 77mm polarizer to a smaller lens- it works perfectly. I should have ordered and extra 77mm lens cap for use while the polarizer is mounted.

[46 mm to 67 mm] Avoided reinvesting in new filter attachments when fitted the 7D with the 70-200 2.8L IS USM. The step-up ring brought the two lens together quite smoothly.

[0.085 lb] I use Heliopan step up rings to fit a lot of my more specialized filters on my lenses. They never bind, and they're easy to remove and move around when I need to take them off to store them. The fit on these rings is very good, and they thread on very smoothly.

[Brass] This step-up ring is more expensive than others, but since it is brass, it won't bind and get stuck on my lens or filter. I use a Vari ND filter, and don't want to buy 2, so this is perfect for me.

[46 mm to 67 mm] By using the 72-82 mm step-up ring, I can use my slim 82mm polarizer on my 24mm TS (tilt/shift) lens (72mm filter threads) and not get vignetting when the lens is shifter to its maximum. I've actually used shift and tilt together without image vignetting. This is a great set-up!

[0.085 lb] I have been using the Heliopan step up rings for a long time, and they're very solid. I've never had them jam on me, and they're always easy to remove and change. I use these for all my filters that I remove and change from lens to lens, and they don't disappoint. I've had a lot of other rings I've used, but these are some of the ones that have really lasted for me long term
