Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do the bulbs blow as easily as lowel pro light bulbs?

A: Do you touch the bulb when placing it in the fixture? One of the first things I was taught on my first job was never touch a bulb when inserting it into the fixture. The oils on your hand gets on the bulb and when turned on, the oils heat up and the bulb will blow. I've had both Arri's(currently this 150 and a 300) and Lowel lights over the years and never had bulbs go out prematurely in either brand. While I believe Arri makes a more durable light than Lowel, you shouldn't have bulb issues if A) Buy a quality bulb, B) Never touch the bulb and C) Handle your lights with more care than an ABC7 news crew.

Q: 2. where are the barn doors for the Fresnel 150?

A: Barn doors are an accessory, and need to be purchased separately. You may also want to purchase some scrims and a spare bulb.

Q: 3. Is this 650W enough to use as a main light for talking head videos?

A: Yes

Q: 4. What is the background noise of theses one like in shooting conditions? Do they require additional sound caution? Thanks.

A: These are passive cooled. no noise.

Q: 5. What's the difference between the 'Plus' and the Arri lights that are non-plus?

A: The Plus series on ARRI Fresnel are the latest redesigned lights. They are more compact than the standard models.

Q: 6. Can these be use for stage lights?

A: This fresnels could be used for lighting a stage if used in close proximity.

Q: 7. What's the tungsten wattage equivalent?

A: According to the manufacturer, this light is a 700 watt equivalent.

Q: 8. color temperature?

A: Tungsten colour temperature is 3200k

Q: 9. Can I plug this light directly to wall outlet?

A: Yes

Q: 10. That is what is included when I buy the ARRI 650? Barndoors?

[3" (Scrim)] This is my first excursion into the world of serious studio lighting. For my simple home studio for selling my glass art on ETSY, this was the perfect investment. The size and weight are suitable to a lightweight stand & arm. The small lens keeps glare to a minimum, working in a confined area. The focusing action by itself makes a noticeable difference - the barn door and snoot are well-made and indispensable for my needs. More power would have been nice, but with my setup, I do not think it would be worth the extra size, weight and heat with the 300 watt model - maybe for larger subjects and/or more general purpose applications, but that's not what I currently do. I am very impressed with the construction, glad I didn't skimp on some flimsy cheaper unit.

[12 to 42°] This is the perfect hairlight. Of course it works for lots of other things as well, but I got it specifially as a hairlight because it works so well. Also, it's incredibly well made.

[12 to 42°] This is a great kit for basic location video set-ups. I use it for everything from product shots to interviews. The lights, stands, and other components included are good quality and sturdy. The case is solid and there is room to add another light or other parts as you need. Very impressed.

[120 VAC, 60 Hz] Very versatile little light. Heats up but thats generally not a factor. Good for subtle background lighting or highlighting hair. Can use it for product shots too, a little more predictable than flash. Quality item, as always from Arri. No matter how enamored you are of your strobe equipment, you need at least one of these.

[150 W] Great addition for a lightweight travel interview lighting kit. I use this primarily as a hair light or to add interest to a background. You can't beat the light quality from a fresnel lens. You always need at LEAST one hard light in your interview kit. 150w isn't that bright but perfect for talking heads interviews. The ability to spot and flood the light as well as shape it with barn-doors is essential to having a hard light. If you can't afford the Dedolight 150 (which is brighter than this light but roughly the same size) this is the light for you.

[3200K] Im starting a production company and I needed perfessional lights that wont let me down. Well this light is perfect as a key with a gel on it or even as a hair light.

[3200K] In addition to use it for photos, this light brings sunshine to my living room in cold and cloudy days. Arri ESP 150w is Ushio ESP 150w (MFG Code 1000362) with an Arri label. Ushio ESP is about $10 on the internet. GE ESP 150w does NOT fit, the contact points are about 2mm longer than Ushio and cannot be used for this light.

[150 W] light works great. I would recommend getting a snoot for more control. Light is even. Solid construction.

[Yes] This light is great for backgrounds, hair light, or just a low watt Hollywood key. Always in my kits.
