Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I use a step up ring 67mm - 77mm , will this cause vignetting?

A: No, stepping up 10mm's will not cause vignetting.

Q: 2. Can it work with NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring for Standard Filter Threads 105, 95, and 82mm ?

A: This ring will allow for an adapter with a 105mm thread to fit a lens with a 95mm thread.

Q: 3. What is the pitch of the 86-95 step up ring? Does it match the Otus 85mm?

A: Sorry but unable to help. Don't know the Otus and don't know the pitch. All I can say is, that it's a quality ring.

Q: 4. Does this fit onto Leica Elmarit-R lens with series VII filter thread?

A: Apparently there are two versions of this lens. Series VII retaining ring should be 54mm so this step ring should get you to a 55mm filter size.

Q: 5. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 6. Would this ring permit the use of 55mm threaded filters on a lens with a Series VII filter-thread? The Leica R 90mm f2 (old version, not the later version) is the lens I have in mind.

A: No, that adapter is for lenses that have a 54mm thread. Series 7 is not 54. If you have a retaining ring, most of those are 54 mm it might work. But the adapter alone will not work. This is a retaining ring, General Brand Series 7 Retaining Ring BH #GBRRS7 https://bhpho.to/3bJHVPU

Q: 7. Hi, do you know if this lens will fit a Lomo 16-opf-12-1 Zoom 10-100mm? The thread seems to be around 75mm but I'm not sure.

A: Unfortuantely, we are not sure. It appears the LOMO 16OPF 12-1 Cine zoom lens 10-100/2.5 16mm lens is an older Russian lens that has since been discontinued. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information listing the filter thread size for this lens.

Q: 8. What is the thread pitch of the 43mm threads?

A: The thread pitch is not listed for this adapter. However it will allow you to use 52mm Filters on a 43mm Lens.

Q: 9. I need to mount a 62mm filter on a 72mm lens, do I need a step up ring or a step down ring?

A: You would need a 62mm to 72mm step down ring.

Q: 10. I have a Nikon Z50 and wish to go from a Nikkor DX 16-50 3.5-6.3 to a Nikkor DX 50-250/4.5-6.3 would the Heliopan 700177 be compatable with the threads on the lens. In the future I'll be purchasing a better set of filters what is the thread type on this step up adapter?

A: You can use the Heliopan 46-62mm Step-Up Ring (#177) on the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens (Black). With that you will than be able to use the same filters as the ones on the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lens.

[Brass] extremely solid and well made. the only things I neglected to think about were: 1) you, obviously, need a new lens cap :) and 2) the shrouds that come with your lens will not easily fit over the new, wider, mouth. so, you need to buy both of these to fit a 77 mm mouth... again, obviously :)

[0.05 lb] I bought this step-up ring so that I could affix a 77mm neutral density filter with my 50mm f/1.4 lens (which has a 58mm thread). There are not that many rings with this range of thread sizes and so after reading all the reviews I decided to go for this one and I have no regrets. The quality of the ring is immediately noticeable when you unbox it, as it's of high-quality metal, that's tough and inflexible unlike plastic models. The ring attaches easily to my lens, although I had to take a couple tries in the very beginning to figure out how to affix it (it didn't seem to fit at first). Once it was first fixed though it has become child's play to attach it to my lens. It comes with it's own protective case which allows for easy storage in your bag or studio (unlike another step-up ring I purchased for my other lens). I highly recommend this product even though it may seem a bit pricey. You do get what you pay for with this ring.

[0.05 lb] I have several B+W step-up rings, and satisfied with them. But those good folks, at B+W, don't offer this size adapter. So it was this costly item, or one made to meet a price point. It is to mount to my Mamiya 65mm f4.0, for the Mamiya 7II camera. The filter is a Schneider U.S.A. white frost grade 1/2.

[0.05 lb] B&H Photo is one of the few places that you can readily get these specialty products. I am using the 82mm B+W (1A) pro filter on a Canon 24mm TSE II lens. Attached to the filter is the Heliopan 82-95 step-up ring (#112). There is NO vignetting at any aperture with this combo. The front lens cap, i.e., the Hasselblad 95mm, works perfectly. All of these items are of the highest quality and compliment the new TSE Canon lens, which is the sharpest Canon lens that I own.

[0.05 lb] There is a serious lack of heavy duty metal step rings in the 58-77mm size, most are plastic. This ring is Brass, painted black. It will probably outlast the lens that I attached it to. I've had no problems at all with it binding and frankly, that's worth the small amount of increased weight, to me. On the downside, it's startingly heavy, but that's the price you pay. The real downside is the price you pay, though. It's ridiculously expensive. On the other hand, I can't imagine a better step ring. If this is a product you're going to use for decades, you're going to be pleased and it's worth the money.

[0.05 lb] This step up ring is better constructed than most, the tolerance are spot on.

[0.05 lb] There are not many heavy duty 52-77mm step rings out there, most are plastic or aluminum. This is brass and is seriously sturdy. You could probably use is as an improvised gardening trowel and it would be none the worse for wear. On the downside, it's heavier than any other step ring you've ever seen. I use it on a Fuji 240mm view camera lens. But by the time you pack everything needed for a view camera, the additional weight is not notable and you have a step ring that is not going to bind to a filter, short of catastrophic destruction. The other downside is that it's so good that it's remarkably expensive, but if you plan on using it for decades, it's not really that expensive. I have no doubt that it will outlast me! I have heard that brass transmits shock instead of deforming like aluminum or plastic. At the risk of cursing myself, I will say that in nearly 40 years of photography I've never dropped a lens. :-) But if you're the kind of person who drops lenses, well, you may want a bit more of an airbag. Personally, I think this unit is worth the bucks and I'm more concerned about a filter binding than I am about dropping a lens and in that regard, the Heliopan is a winner.
