The Ploytec PL2 Leukos USB Synthesizer for Musiciansis a compact duophonic mono analog synthesizer that is powered and controlled via USB. The device can generate a wide variety of sounds using two square wave oscillators that can be connected together to create saw, sine, and pulse waveforms.

The synthesizer can be controlled and sequenced using your favorite DAW or hardware sequencer. You can program and store up to 32 sounds in the device's built-in memory. The device utilizes subtractive synthesis whereby the generated waveforms are routed through low-, high-, and band-pass digital filters to edit the frequency spectrum and amplify resonance.

The unit includes LFO modulation, PWM, ADSR envelope, and various play modes such as mono on, dual on, dual/detune, dual/octave, note priority, aftertouch, breath control, sustain hold, key-off attack, portamento, portamento time, all sound off, and all notes off. You can sync the LFO and envelope speed to an external MIDI clock. Future synthesizer extensions and new features can be updated via firmware and MIDI system (SysEx) transmission.

Physically, the device features one MIDI out jack, one RCA audio jack, and one Micro-B USB jack (for power and MIDI).

[0.15 lb] This amazing little unit is too good to be true. In its price range it blows away any soft synth version of the 70s/80s string machines. To me it has a lot of Oberheim/Roland/Mellotron sensibilities. So much right at your fingertips, being able to single out different instruments (cello, electric piano, etc), or combine them and add rich built-in effects for incredibly unique sounds. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Streichfett the minute Waldorf announced it, and B&H made it happen well before any other online retailers began shipping them in the US. Danke schn, B&H!

[4.2 x 3 x 1.3"] The DSI Prophet 6 is probably the most compelling Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer on the market at the moment. Having learned synthesis on a Moog Modular in the 70's it is clear to me that this little beast is the real deal. A modern Analog Poly Synth wrapped in a very modern feature set. If you're looking for the classic Prophet 5 sound but did not want to deal with the unstable tuning headaches of the original then your ship just came in. The design and layout is superb, with every knob and control right there in front of you for instant changes in modulation with no menu diving. In fact, there are no menus, just like the Prophet 5, however I did not find that limiting once I got used to it. The included sound set is excellent and much better that the sound set that DSI shipped with the Prophet 8 IMHO. If you are lucky enough to find a store that actually has the Prophet 6 on display you can use the 'Play' function in the sequencer section to preview the sounds. For me, the warm analog sound of this machine is what made it stand out from the other DSI offerings, however it was the outstanding Arp/Sequencer and Digital Effects engine that convinced me that it was worth the heavenly price point. The ability to use the Poly-Chain feature to link two Prophet 6's together would create a 12 Voice, Analog tone monster to contend with. Add in a full size keyboard and integrated power supply and there not much to be desired here. The available third party software really helps to round out the potential for using this in the studio and integrating it into a DAW setup. The nicely weighted keyboard is both velocity sensitive and has after-touch but for some reason the P6 ships with a 49 note, four octave keyboard while its namesake and other DSI offerings like the P8 came with a 61 note keyboard. Not a show stopper for me but it is a curious omission on an otherwise brilliant, modern analog synthesizer. Highly Recommended.

[10 mA max] This synth is versatile as any I've worked with thus far. Tender little twinkles, robust booming bass, shimmering pads, leads that can tear a hole though space and time, and thick atmospheres. Make sure to train your ears beforehand because if you aren't careful it'll blast them off. The filters are so flexible that I sometimes let it go too far and it can squeal like a pig. I cannot wait to put this through some extra outboard filtering and processing and let it's mischievous timbre meander a bit.

[4.2 x 3 x 1.3"] If you love the Juno series, this has all of them and yes it sounds just like the old ones. Its buit tough, the action is great. Building your own sounds is very adictive, easy and once get used to the layout and menus its easy. I love all the customisable buttons and sliders on the left. The knobs and sliders are silky smooth and tough. The sounds are very lush and full, the effects are good, but not perfect, the reverb is basic, but its smooth. The delay is very nice and so is the drive. It was easy to update the firmware all you need is a thumb drive. If you want that Juno sound and dont want to risk getting an original, this will do nicely.

[1.3 oz (36 g)] Always been a big fan of those massive 80s string sounds that couldn't be any further from the real deal. This little box definitely delivers the goods. Also, since it's a module, stacking synth sounds has never been easier. Load up a huge bass sound, add the Waldorf, and your half way there to recreating those terribly awesome sounds found on almost every 80s movie ever made. Love it. Great Jon Waldorf team. Also, killer reverb and chorus on this unit.

[4.2 x 3 x 1.3"] A surprisingly nice sounding analog string emulation! Few controls but considerate ones. The effects sections reverb is nice and open sounding for strings. Sits nicely in mixes so far. Plus, unlike some vintage machines, this one's already in stereo!

[1.3 oz (36 g)] I have been using Roland synthesizer since the 1980s. I am a hard to convince consumer when it comes to analog modeling and this one is probably some of the best I've heard from Roland. The ability to stack all of your different synthesizer models on top of one another is amazing. it's very convincing and is just gorgeous sounding. The keyboard feels good and the flow is incredible with all of the polyphony it sounds huge!

[1.3 oz (36 g)] The Arturia Mini V3 is incredibly cool. There is truly sooo much you can do over a standard Model-D from an extra LFO that doesn’t eat up oscillator 3 to velocity as a modifier to varying actual pulse widths static or modulated to individual amounts of any modifier on each oscillator all made possible by the eight slot mod matrix. The major failing that I take no points off from this synth is that it does not have the natural drift of the original Model-D. I’m pretty sure I have heard & seen oscillator drift in soft software synths so I’m not sure why it’s omitted here but as long as you detune your oscillators to taste you get a rich sound that in context will surpass a Minimoog in terms of sheer flexibility & enhancements every time. The built in chorus & delay sound good but really aren’t necessary for most patches. I never found a use for the vocal filter as I would have preferred female articulations or the motion recorder as it always restarts with each note press & isn’t free running like say a Moog 1125 which would have been an ingenious touch. Maybe in a future update. For sheer flexibility from enhancements such as polyphony & velocity to being able to automate sequences & performances to never needing to service your instrument the Arturia Mini V3 delivers in spades. I literally sold my vintage Model-D because the Mini V3’s features made me feel the vintage instrument is more of a collectors piece & not forward thinking. I see myself using the Mini V3 for a long time to come.

[1.3 oz (36 g)] The Waldorf Blofeld is a fierce virtual analog/wavetable synth with a powerful multi mode for serious studio use and live performance. I bought this synth over 10 years ago for a tour I was asked to play on. What I love so much about the Blofeld for what I use it for is its multi mode which allows key ranges or even just one note to specify a particular patch while leaving certain notes blank. For instance I have one shot synth sounds with mod wheel control that I trigger by slamming my hand on a D or G#. All the keys trigger but because the range is set to one note, only the single key voice sounds and of course you can pitch the keys up and down so that you don't just play D or G#. Also the synth UI is very intuitive and programming sounds is a breeze. The sound engine gets VERY deep but, if you spend time with it, you get accustomed quickly. For that first tour I did, I programmed my sounds quickly recreating the sounds off the record even though I didn't yet KNOW the sound of the Blofeld. It reacts as it should with so many options given wavetables and the mod matrix. The built in effects are excellent as well. I have read about people slamming the reverb but I totally love it. The sample option is very cool as well for loading user sample content in the oscillators and I fully intend to tour again with this primarily as a sample playback machine with added synth shaping control. Waldorf has a reputation and, with the Blofeld, they once again deliver.

[0.15 lb] My expectations were met. My delivery was on time. Great for any age. I highly recommend as a gift. The price was very good. I have played with it everyday. It makes me want to write music with it. I love plugging it up into headphones or speaker system. Built in speaker is not best quality. The bass is insane. I also love playing along with songs. Thank you for your service!
