There is a flip-up lever on the bottom of the plate so you do not need a screwdriver and it takes three 360 degree turns to fully attach the plate. If extreme speed is desired you could just buy more than one plate. This is not a tripod system that is going to hold a long heavy lens even if the lens has a tripod mount collar.
