Using an enhanced thermal print head and print engine system the DNP DS620A Professional Photo Printer Reviewfrom DNP DS620A Professional Photo Printer Reviewis designed for high quality prints with excellent speed and 300 dpi resolution. The printer will produce prints from 2 x 6" photo strips to 6 x 8" images and in high-speed mode will create a 4 x 6" photo in just 8.3 seconds. You can also create beautiful panoramic images up to 6 x 20" when using DNP's Hot Folder Print v2.2 software. The unit can make up to 400 pictures in an hour with the roll feed and the same media can be used for either glossy or matte finishes.

During operation the DS620A has both high-speed and high-quality modes, depending on your personal needs. Also, it offers a watermark on the back of the photos and has USB 2.0 connectivity to a computer. This connection works with a print driver to provide users with detailed information about current status and print jobs. The DS620A comes with a CD with Windows drivers, and Mac drivers are also available as a free download online.

Q: 1. how do i print matte? I dont see in my print settings on my windows computer such an option.

A: Please check you have the most recent update for the printer and you should have the option for Matte, Luster or Glossy. You can find updates on dnpphoto.com

Q: 2. As a sublimation printer, can it print pics to be transferred onto mugs or shirts if you use transfer paper instead of photo paper?

A: No, this can only use the ribbon and roll kits that are designed for this printer. They would not have any transfer paper options.

Q: 3. does the software setup for filmstrip template?

A: The printer has its own driver that supports the film strip printing. This is either configured in your photo booth software or, manually done in printer settings (very limited). DNP software didn't really do it for me.

Q: 4. It is being advertised that this printer (DS620A) can print 6*20 prints and I am guessing this would be accessible via software. Does the software come with the printer?

A: yes the feature is in the software that comes with the printer.

Q: 5. In not compatible with mac?

A: Currently, DNP has Mac compatible drivers for this DNP DS620A Professional Photo Printer.

Q: 6. Does it print 2x6, then rewinds, and print another 2x6, so i can print 2x6 on diferent ocasions?

A: Unfortunately no, the DNP printers do not have a rewind feature.

Q: 7. Will this printer print 2x2 photos for passports?

A: Hi Diane. No, the smallest print size is 4x6, then you would need to cut down manually to 2x2. Another option since you already have the DS620A printer is to purchase a Tmini. When combined with the DS620, it creates our SL620A Snap Lab product which does have a passport feature/software in the system. Check out our website for details around the SL620A.

A: The operating temperature of the DNP DS620A Professional Photo Printer is 41-95 degrees fahrenheit.

A: a 6x8 cannot be cut into two 4x6's... 6x8's are cut into 3x6's

[26 x 22 x 18"] I've used this at a few events so far and I LOVE IT. It was a replacement for a DS40 that quit working after nearly 10 years and while the timing wasn't great I'm super happy with the upgrade. I can't yet speak to durability, but for sure in every other way it is better than the DS40. 5

[26 x 22 x 18"] Coming from the Hiti P525L I must say this printer is a breath of fresh air! Much quicker prints for my Photo Booth guests. I did a lot of research before deciding to get this printer and I’m glad I made this choice. If you are on the fence about making this purchase (I sure was), you won’t be disappointed! 5

[Glossy, Matte] Immediately put in operation upon arrival and follow You tube instruction on how to set up the printer. Set up is very easy and smooth. I ordered the 5x7 photo paper set and upon installing the printer and the set ink, it spit out 3 line up sheet then the green light came on. In just 10 minutes, I was able to put the printer in it's test and the first print came out real nice. The next day, I took the printer to a birthday celebration and left the paper, dye sub ink in tact. I turn on the printer and immediately the green light came on ready to print. Nice and very fast printer and I recommend it for on site printing. 5

[CMY, Overcoat] The DS620A is amazing. I've used it at two events so far with the 5x7 media. The print quality is outstanding and it's incredibly fast. Faster than my assistant could send prints to it. But the number one reason to buy this printer is how easy it is to use. DNP has done a stellar job with the print drivers. The driver installer has worked flawlessly on 3 Windows computers and I was printing within minutes each time. If you've ever spent hours trying to get Shinko printer drivers to work like I have, you'll now just how awesome this is. I'm a DNP convert! I bought the Nanuk 945 hard case for the printer. It doesn't have wheels, but it's the perfect size as it holds the printer, 2 rolls of paper and ink, the cables and the tray. Loaded up it's a pretty heavy affair, but highly protective. 5
