Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this ring permit the use of 55mm threaded filters on a lens with a Series VII filter-thread? The Leica R 90mm f2 (old version, not the later version) is the lens I have in mind.

A: No, that adapter is for lenses that have a 54mm thread. Series 7 is not 54. If you have a retaining ring, most of those are 54 mm it might work. But the adapter alone will not work. This is a retaining ring, General Brand Series 7 Retaining Ring BH #GBRRS7 https://bhpho.to/3bJHVPU

Q: 2. Hi, do you know if this lens will fit a Lomo 16-opf-12-1 Zoom 10-100mm? The thread seems to be around 75mm but I'm not sure.

A: Unfortuantely, we are not sure. It appears the LOMO 16OPF 12-1 Cine zoom lens 10-100/2.5 16mm lens is an older Russian lens that has since been discontinued. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information listing the filter thread size for this lens.

Q: 3. Does this help with vignetting when using a smaller filter?

A: No

Q: 4. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 5. I need to step up from 48mm to 77mm. Can I use this ring in combination with a 58 to 77mm ring?

A: To mount 77mm filters on a lens with 48mm threads, you can use the Heliopan 48-58mm Step-Up Ring (#184) with any 58-77mm Step-Up Ring. Sensei PRO 58-77mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring, BH #SESURPA5877, is a good option.

Q: 6. Can it work with NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring for Standard Filter Threads 105, 95, and 82mm ?

A: This ring will allow for an adapter with a 105mm thread to fit a lens with a 95mm thread.

Q: 7. Will this step up ring work with a Leica Noctilux 50mm 0.95 lens?

A: The Heliopan 60-77mm Step-Up Ring (#644) (B&H# HESUR6077) will fit the 60mm filter thread of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Lens (Black) (B&H# LE50095NB). As such, you'll be able to add 77mm filters to that lens.

Q: 8. Hi ... What is the difference between the Heliopan #143 62/77mm Step-Up Ring, and the Heliopan #144 62/77mm Step-Up Ring??? The descriptions do not say ... other than price, of course. ...Robert G.

A: The Heliopan ring, # 700-144 is a special model that can accept both 77mm threaded filters, as well as Series 8.5 type filters. Our product link for this model on our website is slowly being changed to reflect the new information we received about it since receiving your inquiry.

Q: 9. Greetings! Is this the .5 fine thread or the standard .75 thread? I wish to use on a Polaroid 180 and don't want to trash the threads. Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 46-49mm Step-Up Ring uses standard threads, and are excellent quality step-up rings with brass construction.

Q: 10. Is this coarse or regular thread?

A: This ring has standard threads.

[45 mm to 54 mm] I tried three different step-up rings for my lx100 and the Heliopan was the only of three that didn't cause a lens error when the lens was retracted. If you're in the same boat, this is the one to go for!

[45 mm to 54 mm] Using for 58mm ND filters on smaller (micro four-thirds) Olympus lenses. Well constructed, works as it is supposed to, doesn't get stuck. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

[45 mm to 54 mm] Hefty, durable ring. Dense brass. Smooth threads. Optimal release properties. Works best with THIN ring filters. Old style, thick ring filters will have longer male threads, causing the filter end to hit bottom before filter shoulder makes contact with Step-Up ring rim. Regardless, it works.

[Brass] ... This step-down ring was a special order because of it's uncommon size and I had to wait a little while for it to come from the manufacturer but it was well worth the wait! It's built exceptionally well, it performs as it should and now I am able to mate my vintage spiratone curvatar to my 58mm canon eos lenses for an inexpensive but fun fisheye effect. It really is a simple item but if you need one it's good to know you can obtain one!
